Can’t watch YouTube without seeing Abbot
The first thing that I see when I play a video is an ad from Abbot. So sick of him. At this point I would rather watch an ad for GLP1’s or chair tai chi.
•
u/RiccoT 14h ago
And it’s literally the oldest boomer take there ever was…democrats are tryyn ta raze yer taxxus! 🙄

u/Devo3290 7h ago
I got a text from Paxton asking to chip in $5 and keep Texas red. They have no plan other than to keep pointing fingers
•
•
u/Automatic_Actuator_0 11h ago
They brag about cutting property taxes which is literally just squeezing school districts and forcing every district to issue bonds to afford essentials, making investment bankers the big winners as always.
•
u/mrmoneyinthebanks 8h ago
They conveniently forget to mention that they will be raising sales tax to make up for the lack of property tax income
•
u/ExistingTheDream 8h ago
Everything in Texas is bad or gonna be bad. - guy and his party has been in power forever in Texas. Nothing was ever their fault. And people are still voting for these asshats.

where tf do republicans think we get money for social services like 911, emergency responders, roads, schools? God they're such fkn IDIOTS
•
u/goldcrow616 14h ago
Report all as scams . Does not work but its makes me feel better .
•
u/Saint909 14h ago
I’m totally doing this.
•
u/milesamsterdam 11h ago
Down load the Brave app. YouTube with no commercials on that mobile browser.
•
u/tuxedo_jack Central Texas 10h ago
Sod that. Firefox Mobile allows you to use uBlock Origin and extensions that force old.reddit.
Manifest V3 Chromium-based bullshit can get bent.
It also allows background media play on YouTube AND you can force it to use desktop view
•
u/rechlin 7h ago
I use Firefox on Android and there's no need for an extension to force old.reddit. Just set it in your reddit preferences, and you'll never see new reddit again.
Also on Android you can use Morphe which gives you a super upgraded YouTube with ad blocking and sponsor blocking and other nice features.
•
u/ProudNativeTexan 10h ago
That's the only way I will watch Youtube. It's great! I use Brave on both my cell and my desktop.
•
u/Ikon-for-U 9h ago
You can also pause and block the ad
•
u/TheRiverNiles 0m ago
Doesn't always work. Often times the ad will still play or it'll be a slightly differently-named ad but it'll run the exact same as the one you blocked. That's how stupid ass TPUSA kept showing up on my screen.
•
u/adieande 14h ago
This is what I do on fb with every single white house post. They're just trolls and I refuse to feed them.
•
•
•
u/ShadyOperation 9h ago
No, watch them and drain his ad spend. Click his call to action button to donate, do everything possible to engage but not donate. This is how you fuck the republicans, engage in their shit.
•
u/GarikLoranFace 5h ago
It also did let us finally choose to stop seeing it. I think it worked and lowkey hope they told him that I said “fuck yeah we are [taking over texas], you asshole”
•
u/FunnieNameGoesHere 14h ago
The one about in income tax is one of the worst lies I’ve ever heard from any campaign. It’s Democrats who passed the income tax ban. The legislation was passed in the 1990s, when both chambers of the legislature were majority D.
•
u/Thespis1962 13h ago
They also never mention that a constitutional amendment was passed in 2019 banning an individual income tax. It would take 2/3 of both houses and a popular vote to undo it.
•
u/FunnieNameGoesHere 10h ago edited 10h ago
And even that was performative bullshit. A state income tax was already unconstitutional by then. The legislation in the 90s required a constitutional amendment, and the legislation to put it on the ballot was carried by a D in the senate (I know this because I am old enough to remember).
•
u/Neat-Dream1919 14h ago
“I SAID NO TO BOYS IN GIRL SPORTS!”
Thanks Abbot, glad to see your working on pressing matters. Meanwhile my electric and grocery prices increase considerably every year.
•
u/disgracedkitty 14h ago
Talking about the same ol shit too. Theres like 3 people clapping in that ad......shit cracks me up
•
•
u/Talibumm 11h ago
They only clap over the non issue too. “I made a law keeping boys out of girls sports” or something and then you get that lame cheer lol
It just shows what is most important to them
•
u/gattovatto 10h ago
Notice how they have nothing positive to run on and they just have to make up lies about democratic candidates.
“James Talarico helped our economy and that’s shitty bc Chinese businesses were involved… also don’t look how other GOP states have done the same”
Republicans basically are running on the fact that they’ve been in control for 3 decades but they still need a little more time to get things right.
•
u/raven_of_azarath 1h ago
“James Talarico: HIGHER TAXES! Ken Paxton: LOWER TAXES!”
I’ve been getting this ad a lot recently too
•
•
u/Fishingfordookie 14h ago
Abbott: Democrat's are trying to ruin this state, look at the shitty state(pun) its in!
Also Abbott: Yea i been running this shit to the ground for the last 10 years
•
u/Hovallejr 14h ago
He's all over hulu too. Made me go ad free.
•
u/superzoot__ Central Texas 13h ago
this right here! i got a vpn just to switch to a different state
•
u/Free-Finding9047 14h ago
I've gone ad free by using smarttube. All the youtube content, none of the youtube ads.
•
•
u/komododave17 14h ago
It’s either him or Talarico smear ads in front of damn near every gaming video my son watches. Not anywhere near his voting demographic. Or voting age.
•
u/motherofscorpions 12h ago
I keep getting his ads on the most liberal videos and channels. I even got one during a video by a trans creator talking about JK Rowling's bigotry. I really think he just put "Texas" as the demographic with zero regard to age range or political affiliation.
•
u/worldspawn00 10h ago
A lot of wasted money on the wrong demos, somebody isn't doing a good job with their targeting, lol
•
u/motherofscorpions 9h ago
Either it was some overworked intern who's getting fired or he's scared enough he might not win this one that he's casting the widest net possible. I'm hoping for the later even if it's just because it makes this hellscape a bit easier to face.
•
u/lyn73 14h ago
Yeah .. I wish the Dems would counter with a troll ad marking all of Abbott's "achievements" (cough)...
•
•
•
u/UpstairsBumble 10h ago
Who’s even running against Abbott? It’s sad that I don’t even know. But I’ve seen 1 million Abbot ads
•
•
u/29187765432569864 14h ago
Abbott has had YEARS to improve school safety, the state has a $28 Billion surplus, and yet he has done nothing. He will be responsible for the next school shooting
•
•
u/hernondo 11h ago
Democrats are trying to raise your property taxes!!
Bro, you’ve been in office for a long time. My property taxes have gone up 3x since you’ve been in office..
•

u/DHiL 14h ago
He's getting right on all those changes Texans are looking for to improve our state after *checks notes* having free run of the fucking place for over a decade.

To be honest the political BS going on in America is just annoying and takes a toll on your mental health. Everyday you see stupid stuff Trump is doing. The event that ticked me off most was when Abbot began gerrymandering Texas which lead to the Gerrymandering of the entire Bible Belt. He started the event that lead to the loss of black African American political representation in the US.
If you wanna live happy and not annoyed you have to be ignorant of politics. But don’t fall in that mindset. Keep on fighting.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but isn't that VPN for anonymously, what's with the ad blocker?

Just meant why I use Firefox. OP uses apple products. I have 0 experience with them as I. A pc android guy.

You know I have to hand to most MAGA Texans. I would have guessed they would like real men, but that trifecta of Abbott, Paxton, and Cruz…. kind of pathetic
•
u/rilmarie 13h ago
That’s Trumps 10$ million dollar ad campaign. VOTE FOR GINA HINOJOSA. That was free, because she is actually good for Texas.
•
u/Unlikely_Speech_106 13h ago
There is an upside to this. Every time you see such commercials, you burn up some of their campaign money.
•
u/Correct_Roll_3005 11h ago
Transformative polices! More like transphobic regressive politics catering to the worst of us. Death pangs of the olde republic.

Gina Hinojosa needs donations to reach more voters. Please donate to her campaign, any amount helps! 💙

Just let the ad play. If you’re confidently not voting for Ayatollah Abbot of the Yall’Qaeda, then it consumes ad funds that would otherwise potentially serve ads to swing or undecided voters who just vote for what they heard the most.
Depending on the Ad Buy type, You’re either forcing dead ad spend by consuming a number of impressions or spots if it was guaranteed CPM/CPE and knowing you’re never gonna vote for him or you’re directly eating up funds if it’s programmatically filled through Google ads or anything else also knowing you’re never gonna vote for him.
I let the ad play every time all the way through, just muted, to cover Any ad buy type to make sure it’s wasted money.
Some buy types charge the advertiser less for skipped ads so I don’t skip. Some register impressions only after the five/ten second skip timer. Etc
•
u/Saint909 10h ago
Smart. I’ve been muting the ads but it’s almost every time I watch a video. I use Apple TV to watch YouTube and there’s no ad blockers.
•
u/Am_Very_Stupid East Texas 11h ago
See I'm in the opposite situation, all I get is Talarico's adds, like chill out bro im already gonna vote for you, you dont save to convince me more. That and adds calling talarico a communist or whatever anything that starts with "communism china" registers as white noise to me, its just a list of buzzwords that doesn't actually say anything important...
•
•
•
u/TheProle Born and Bred 12h ago
He pays for every one you watch so really its a lose/lose situation for everyone involved
•
u/Trousers_MacDougal 12h ago
Is it the one where he espouses transformative policies in front of a dozen sleepy people at a honky tonk? Transformative policies needed after decades of GOP control.
You know, trans policies?
That one?
•
u/Ithurtsprecious 12h ago
At least you’re burning his ad spend. They think you’re an undecided voter.
•
u/vintagegarrison 11h ago
For real, and they aren’t even skip-able ads. Forcing me to listen to his bullshit
•
•
u/Thespis1962 14h ago
YouTube premium FTW! Does Abbott really think his demographic is watching YouTube?
•
u/justherefor23andme Expat 14h ago
Yes. Tons of people get sucked into rw politics in YouTube. The algorithm feeds it.
•

•
u/KamehaDragoon 11h ago
Desperation because hes been in office for 30 yrs with almost nothing to show for it
•
u/Haunting-Garbage-976 10h ago
Youtube Premium was the best subscription i ever made. No ads, listen to my podcasts on there and as of this year have begun migrating my music habits onto there as well. Much more useful for me than netflix hulu etc. Id think of it if i were you. Election season ads are only getting started
•
u/rnotyalc 14h ago
Every time it plays I just talk over him and say "go fuck yourself you lying sack of shit" and "fix the fucking power grid asshole" over and over. Makes me feel a little better.
•
u/ithinkitsahairball 14h ago
Get a good VPN like Proton VPN, problem solved. I do not know what hulus policy is for connecting thru a VPN. There is always a clear channel available.
•
•
u/ShopEmpress 14h ago
My favorite part of his shitty ads are that he managed to miss his marks on the stage, literally. In one shot, it's overhead and you can see very clearly that his chair is not in the tape lines set out for him.
•
u/tjeepdrv2 14h ago
I bought a new phone earlier this year and it came with a free trial of YouTube Premium. After it expired, I immediately subscribed. There's no going back. Not only do you not get any ads, you can skip the ad placement that's a part of the video.
•
•
•
u/DenialOfExistance 14h ago
Lol. Turned on You Tube earlier and there was Abbott! Not sure what demographics he's going after but rich white middle age or older people don't watch You Tube!
•
•
u/Spirited-Radio-1399 14h ago
I mute that ad every time I see t come on. He's a big liar. This state is going backwards as long as the Republicans rule here.
•
u/wstsidhome 14h ago
And he ends it with the biggest part of his campaign “I made it against the law for boys to play in girls’ sports”

YouTube blessed me with free premium for 2 months, I wonder if that was by design…if so, brilliant move.

South Dallas. I've even received that stupid text message offering free tickets to the RNC. 😭

I keep seeing a ton of content about reducing/removing property taxes. Another money grab for the well off. Renters get the shaft.
•
u/davidg4781 11h ago
I’ve reported some of those ads. Forgot what the reasoning was.
Now it’s some dude talking about cutting things off an 8 year old and we shouldn’t be doing that. Stupidest ad ever.
•
u/vivekpatel62 11h ago
I wish they would just do elections in the summer so I don’t have to ever see any ads.

I will never understand why people don't block ads everywhere they can. Between ad blockers and sailing the high seas I haven't seen a regular advertisement in years in my house. It's when I use my work computer where we're not allowed to put ad blockers on that blows me away. Its so strange looking at any website and seeing the ads that pop up all over the place that I never see at home.

Gosh, me too. I’m certain I’m not in that demographic, so if it’s algorithm based I’m lost. Did I watch an errant video or something? I try not to search political stuff if I can help it.
•
u/ATrueLady 8h ago
If he wins he better not pause the moratorium on data centers or we need to run him out of town.
•
u/tonyblue2000 8h ago
You guys are still using raw YouTube? There are plenty of apps out there to watch ut without ads. I'd also report the ad with any reason. I do reporting all the time and I see it less or nothing at all (on my mobile I use raw YouTube because I don't listen it much from there, I'm mainly in firestick).

I’ve been watching Critical Role campaign videos (which are 3-6 hours long), and I swear I get this one every 10-15 minutes. I could probably quote it at this point. So tired of it.

Ad blocking OP, ad blocking.
•
u/Saint909 14h ago
There’s an Adblock for YouTube on TV
•
u/kon--- 14h ago
Several. But it does entail sideloading an adblocking app to the TV and/or using installing a browser that has adblocking. That though requires being paired with $15 bluetooth keyboard.
Either option is fairly straight forward with the sideload of an adblocking app involving a few more steps.

•

I have no idea, thats part of Abbotts commercial. See it 100x a day. He is a room full of old white folks telling them that dems are scared of his strong policies, lol.

I’m sick of seeing Talarico begging for money. Maybe he should call more California donors.
