General Advice Got this tattoo on impulse and I regret it a lot.

Post image

Got this tattoo during a trip with my friends were I was hyped up. Just to realize in the same day it just isn't my style at all, on top of looking ugly (or so I've been told), I just now realize as well how weird the "e" looks. I'm very stressed and I need advice on how to manage it better or if there's a way to accelerate the removal process.

General Advice Would you cover this up or get it removed?

Would it be easy enough to cover up? It's on my forearm. I've always wanted a dream catcher tattoo and thinking this may be the opportunity to get one, but not sure if that sort of design would work to cover up this tattoo.

Design is this a poor quality tattoo?

i got this tattoo about a month ago and i thought it was pretty good when I first got it. i had a few small gripes and the process seemed to happen a lot faster than i expected, and i didn’t have much time to communicate my preferences. after seeing some of my friends tattoos, they seem much cleaner and more defined. did i get a flash tattoo or something by mistake?

Edit: the whole thing took a little over and hour and cost $180 for the design. are these spec worth the quality? and if so, how much would something like this usually look like?

Design Does it flow?

This is my first tattoo, so I'm giving myself some time to sit with the design and get used to it, but I've been feeling so much regret (it was a REALLY huge investment, so part of the regret could be guilt about how much I spent). I also invested a ton of meaning into the design-- I lost both of my parents recently and I wanted to memorialize them in subtle ways. I felt the artist didn't really care much about the meaning/how emotional it was for me, so perhaps that's another reason I feel a bit of regret.

I love the art up close and it is obviously incredibly high quality work, but I'm worried it doesn't flow well/isn't legible. I was really torn between this artist's style and a more "traditional" fine line floral (which also would have been less). Am I overreacting? Does the design flow well and does it look okay? I realize I'm the only person who should care what it looks like, but some reassurance would be amazing.

tattoo newcomer advice Was my tattoo well executed?

I got this tattoo about a year ago as my first ever. The white paw on the left cat and the pointier tail on the right cat are on purpose since those were particularities of my late beloved cats. When it was fresh i noticed some blown out and inconsistency in the line art but i tought it would go away in the healing process. It didn’t. The "mistakes" that really bugs me are the paws and the head of the left cat, as well as the inconsistency of the ears (one rounded and one pointy) on both cats. Overall i do like my tattoo and im mainly looking for advice on what to look out for, for my futur tattoos.

Am i imagining things? Was my tattoo artist not as experience has i thought they were? Did they rushed the execution, as it was done within 1h30?

I need second opinions

General Advice Does this tattoo need something more?

I recently got this palm tree tattoo, and although I like the tattoo itself, something about the way it looks on my body just isn’t sitting quite right with me. It’s still healing, and it’s my second tattoo in a more visible area. (I also have a small script on my wrist and a larger tattoo on the side of my torso.)
I can’t tell if it needs something added to make it feel more cohesive, if it looks a little out of place, or if my brain simply needs time to adjust seeing it there. I included a selfie to show how it looks on me overall. I’d really appreciate some honest opinions, thanks!

Design Lemon branch tattoo advice

I got this lemon branch tattoo a day before, and have been contemplating (lowkey fixating) that the uncut ones don't look quite like lemons. I am considering going for a touch up, and maybe asking to add a bit more shade. I would really appreciate any advice on how to improve the look.

General Advice I think I hate my trip tattoo

Post image
Upvotes

I think I hate my tattoo I got from my norway trip. The line weights are all wonky and some places aren't even connected. The lines are also so thick. I researched the place and the artists but my artist got injured when we went and so I just used the same artist as my brother. This guy does amazing work and I was super excited about the design but now I have a dark mess on my chest that will probably heal terribly. I have three other tattoos and this is the only one I feel dread looking at. I can't even get it touched up because he's 13 hours away from me. I don't know what to do.

The worst part is he was so nice and my brother's tattoo looks incredible. I'm just super bummed bc this was my thing. I planned it and communicated but I am the only one of five of us who came out with a bad tattoo. I'm just. Upset.

I’ve been getting these bruises after my slightly larger pieces that i’ve never gotten before, is this a reason to be concerned ?

Edit - First picture is my current tattoo that started blue and turned red, not hot at all. Second picture is an old tattoo that did the same thing when i got it but healed fine. Not infection, not hot or tender.

General Advice matching tattoos (pic for reference)

Post image
Upvotes

Me (34F) and my boyfriend (28M) went to our close friends’ wedding yesterday. My boyfriend and I live together and have been together for a year. There was a tattoo artist at the wedding doing cute lovey flash tattoos. My boyfriend and I thought it would be sweet to get matching tats. It was a heart with a barbed wire link across it that we got on the back of our arms. I was really stoked about it and thought it was such a fun thing to do, especially at such an incredible celebration of love for our friends.

However, when my boyfriend went to hang with friends last night, one of his friends was like “that’s dumb,” even though he has a matching tattoo with his wife (he said it was fine because they’re married). Then another one of his friends replied to a story we posted about it on instagram with “damn man, that’s commitment.” My boyfriend called me after this and asked me if I thought getting matching tattoos was “too much” and maybe not the best idea. I told him I thought it was mean of his friends to say things like that and that I thought it was so cool that we had matching tattoos. However, my feelings are hurt because something that initially felt positive and sweet now feels sullied by him letting those negative comments get to him.

So was this something weird and extreme to do together? This post is probably dumb but I feel insecure now.

Healing Does this look like I should take it off?

This is my first tattoo so apologies if the answer seems obvious
As of time of post the second skin has been on 18 hours and looks like it might be peeling off. But due to the multiple pieces of the stuff overlapping it’s hard to tell if it’s actually become exposed to the air yet?
Artist told me to keep it on for 24-48 hours. So should I wait or just take it off and wash it?
Pictures not the greatest I do apologise

General Advice Using urea cream for KP, do I need to dodge my tattoos?

Upvotes

I wanna try urea cream for my KPd upper arms. I wanna get tattoos there and I want to treat my skin first. I already have a couple in my forearms. Do I need to avoid putting the cream on those or is it safe? They're both healed

Healing Tattoo aftercare

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone, I got a back tatt on Sunday it was my first ever tattoo so I'm new to this. My tattoo artist didn't put second skin on it only a stretch and I took it off as soon as I got home and she told me to wash it 3x a day with antibacterial or mild soap for three days and to start putting the cream on it after those 3 days. I have been doing that of course but I am basically on day 2 with a tattoo and I wonder if I could start the cream already. My tattoo is kinda fineline so I feel like it is processing a lot quicker and it is itchy like a mf. I can feel that it is now crusty to touch. Do you think I can start putting the cream on? I don't wanna mess anything up, make the ink fall out or f up somehow.

For anyone wanting to say that I should consult this with my artist I DID ask my artist this question but she is not replying at the moment and I wanted a bit more quicker answer☺
(The photo is taken rn, I just washed it so it's shiny)

General Advice Advice on how to improve/rework this flower tattoo?

Post image
Upvotes

Hi guys.

A friend asked me to retouch and improve this tattoo.

The lines are quite uneven and I’m worried that simply going over them will make them too thick.

How would you approach fixing it? Would you clean up the existing lines, add some shading, or slightly rework the design?

Edit: I didn’t make this tattoo

General Advice Advice for sleeping with a new neck piece

Post image
Upvotes

EDIT: I appreciate all the insight!! Y’all are the best, thank you for quick responses. I’m hopping off my phone for a bit but will reply to comments in due time 🩵

2nd EDIT: Y’all please, I know that tattoos are not copy and paste. I am not expecting to see this exact piece on my body, and that’s also not even the question I’m asking in this post. 🙏🏼

Hi long time hater first time caller(I posted in here on a new account a couple months ago but didn’t have karma so it got taken down, but we’re so back)

I’m getting a neck/chest piece done next month and I’m worried about sleeping with this new piece. I sleep on my stomach with my head turned to the side and like… that doesn’t seem like it’s gonna work lol.

I’m aware that the piece is going to need touch ups regardless of how I sleep, so my main question is am I just going to have to suck it up and sleep in a different position and probably not well for a couple days?

As I’m typing this I hate the way it sounds bc yeah obviously lmfao

I have a great artist, at least I think so and a “dead end” sign has personal ties to me and my wife (in a good way). I thought maybe a dead end sign without the letters just the shape. And I also like tattoos to touch even if barely. Thoughts?

General Advice Removed/replaced derm sheild after 24 hrs. Should I do it for next time when there's this much plasma? NSFW

Hey! I never had this much build up in a tattoo before so I removed the initial derm sheild (1st photo) after 24 hrs and replaced it (2nd photo). I plan on getting a 3rd small tattoo near it. I was wondering if I should let the initial derm sheild sit longer even when the plasma looks this dramatic in case it happens again. Thanks!

Design Design/ placement advice

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m currently planning my first tattoo and have been chatting with a tattoo artist who is new to my town.

I’m a very beachy girl and love everything about it, so I’ve been thinking of something around that.

I sent her my inspo pic, and the attached image is what she came up with and wondering if this is good?

I’m wanting it in fine line and I definitely want it to be visible/noticeable, but I’m struggling with placement.

I’m leaning pretty strongly towards somewhere on my lower stomach/hip, but I’m also considering my arm.

I’d especially love opinions on:

Does this design suit the hip/side area?

Would you choose the hip or arm?

If you have fine-line tattoos in either area, how have they held up?

Is there anything I should consider about fine line on the hip/stomach?

I’m pretty set on the hip placement but definitely open to being talked out of it 😂

This is my first tattoo, so I’d really appreciate any advice or things you wish you’d considered before getting yours!
