The last scene between Kara and Lena was the biggest queerbait since Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

u/Simba122504 Nov 10 '21

TPTB told y'all Lena and Kara were nothing more than friends. This is not like they lied to y'all. They clearly told y'all that. There was never any romance between those two women.

I bet if Lena or Kara was a guy, we'd see SuperCorp was canon. That's all I gotta say on that

Not necessarily. I mean kara and lena are basically bellamy and clarke from the 100 which also never ended up happening despite huge fan following, chemistry and a lot of romantically ambiguous scenes. That's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

and for what its worth it's not like kara and mon-el ended up together either.

I never saw the final season of the 100 so maybe I'm wrong but from what I recall Bellamy and Clarke never got together because of Clarke and Lexa. Even after Lexa's death there were so many shippers of those two that putting her together with Bellamy would have drive those viewers away.

The show really just made a mistake not nailing Alycia Debnam-Carey down as a series regular before she joined Fear the Walking Dead.

u/LMkingly Nov 10 '21

dunno about that. it felt like clexa shippers pretty much mass exited from the fandom back in S3 when she died. By the time the final season was coming bellamy and clarke fans were the most dominant in the fandom. and driving viewers away is something that show never cared about lol. as someone who watched the mess that was S7 trust me.

So you're telling me I shouldn't catch up and finish it out?

u/omnisephiroth Nov 10 '21

Yeah. Except in the:

Shot composition, acting choices, dialogue, editing, sound… there’s a longer list, someone could make it for me.

So, outside of everything that makes a TV show, I agree. They definitely said that.

u/Simba122504 Nov 10 '21

That was all in y'all heads. Unpopular opinion but actual reality.

When you watch TV, do you process what you’re seeing somewhere other than in your head?

u/Simba122504 Nov 10 '21

I process facts. TPTB has never once shown these two characters being into each other. Putting them together after seasons of them being nothing more than friends would have been terrible writing even for this show. I'm not even arguing about this anymore. The series is over.

u/Cygnus_Harvey Nov 10 '21

Do you know what queerbaiting is? You don't have to tell that two characters are into each other, you just need to show it. That's why music, angles, tropes, certain word choices, directions for the actors to act certain way, etc are for.

You don't want to argue cause you refuse to acknowledge it, since it's now canon that they're not together? Be my guest, but don't diminish and treat people like they're crazy when they tell that they've been queerbaited HARD, because it was one of the prime examples of queerbaiting alongside Merlin, Supernatural and early Teen Wolf.

u/electric_azur Kara Danvers (“Yes!” Alt.) Nov 10 '21

I’m really asking what body part you use to process these facts

u/JohnnyTightlips27 Nov 10 '21

Hundreds of thousands of people beg to differ. Whatever the case, TPTB don't own these characters anymore. We do. And we'll interpret these characters, their motivations, and their stories however we damn well please. Have a good night.

u/Simba122504 Nov 10 '21

Yet, none of y'all work for this show. Never wrote any episode on this show. Y'all fan fiction is not canon. What TPTB wrote is canon. Hard facts not opinions. Two women can be nothing more than friends even in 2021. Have fun because I cannot relate. All of my ships actually happens and is canon.

u/JohnnyTightlips27 Nov 10 '21

It’s been pointed out to you already all the ways this show has baited their romance with CANON choices. As omnisephiroth said, that includes writing, directing, editing, shot composition, etc.

Anyway, like it or not, Supercorp is going to be the show’s lasting legacy and will continue to inspire fans to create brilliant art and fanfiction throughout the years. That’s the beauty of art—you can take what you want from it and make it your own.

u/electric_azur Kara Danvers (“Yes!” Alt.) Nov 11 '21

I’m still trying to figure out what body part you use to process information if it’s NOT in your head

u/omnisephiroth Nov 10 '21

Yo, at least have conviction. Don’t be a coward and say it’s an opinion and then that it’s reality.

Either mean it, like an adult, or stuff it.

u/RavenclawConspiracy Nov 10 '21

TPTB told y'all Lena and Kara were nothing more than friends.

You don't know what the word 'told' means, do you? Or maybe what 'TPTB' means?

You understand a large part of the criticism is that TPTB refused to actually say there wasn't going to be a romance, right? Aka, queerbaited, when the show's production refuse to confirm or deny a queer relation, and yet continues to provide subtextual clues.

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '21

Ya they crafted a good friendship for them in the end, this is the best outcome they could have done after all the times Lena harmed Kara/Supergirl and how Kara didn’t tell Lena her secret after all their circle knew.

K/L have different moral standings, you just cannot pretend that can be resolved and make a working romantic relationship.

u/RavenclawConspiracy Nov 10 '21

LOL.

I'd love to see that 'different moral standing' explained. This season had Kara decide to use non-consensual mind control to make people angrier and more violent for the Greater Good.

Which I guess is indeed technically different than Lena's Non Nocere.
