I went over this bridge as a child when it opened and seeing all the pipes, pumps, and various other machinery while being over a vast, deep pool of water scared the shit out of me. Ironically I wasn't even scared of the sharks swimming below me, I distinctly remember thinking that part was cool. There is also a much thinner mesh safety net underneath the bridge and I freaked myself out by imaginging that I had to cross solely over that.

This is where the water is pulled into and then pumped to cool down the reactor. But I am sorry, I know this is out of the water but makes you think what an awful way to go. Just look how big it is to the dude standing below it. The slats are not even small enough to stop a human getting sucked into it.

I was on vacation in Bulgaria for 3 days and it was night time at the beach.
Sorry for the shitty photos it's not easy taking pictures at night plus I couldn't get good pictures of the safety bouy markers they look like glowing dots and I did try to use night vision too.

This goes about 100ft deep, and so the light gets very dim. I've also had a visit from some of the locals at 16:23. These are three rather large bull sharks. I was told they wanted a fellow diver's spear fishing catch, but he did fight them off. I did not get any of that action. Enjoy.

While I was finding a spot to study on campus, I got a pretty clear view of this art installation that seems to move with the water. I’m not sure if the video I took does justice to showing the size of the statues.

The size and the fact that these things are unmanned scares me so much. Like these things ain’t stopping for you in the water. Imagine seeing a huge dark silhouette pass by you in the ocean.

This yacht in Monacco had two massive propellers underwater and it had me feeling some type of way.
Something about it’s cold metal surface and dirtyness in the dark water with the unknown below…

After watching a documentary about it, I realised that the Thames barrier is ground zero for my submechanophobia.
I got taken there on a school trip when I was a kid and remember getting panicky when our boat passed in between the piers. It still gives me goosebumps to watch it in action.

I've had a strange fear of pool lights for as long as I can remember. I also find drains creepy, but there's something about pool lights that used to terrify me. Which is strange because I've always been interested in (non-submerged) lights. The fear was never about being electrocuted; I just thought they looked scary. I was also afraid of being in a pool when the lights came on. The pool I used to go to as a kid had lights in the deep end that were near the very bottom, which made them even creepier, and I think that may have made the fear worse.
It wasn't until I was ten years old that I could look at a pool light underwater, and I was 14 before I ever looked at one turned on underwater. Even now as an adult, I sometimes shudder just thinking about pool lights, or if I'm in a pool and I get near one. I'm wondering if I may have had a traumatic experience with one when I was very young that left me with some kind of PTSD-esque scar. Or maybe it's just because they look unnatural and make the brain imagine hidden underwater hazards?

Not the greatest pics but best I could get. This was one of the exhibits at Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg. Think this was either in the Seal or Polar Bear pools.

The sunken B-29 in Lake Mead.
At 12:30, July 21, 1948, a Boeing B-29 Superfortress descended onto the surface of Lake Mead, the huge (but shrinking) reservoir behind Hoover Dam in Nevada. Making a gentle descent at just above its 220-mph cruise speed, the Superfortress skipped on the surface for about 200 yards, hit the water hard and then ripped off three of its four engines before beginning a slow descent to the lake bottom. The B-29's 5-man crew clambered into two life rafts and were rescued, with the only injury being a crewman's broken arm. The Air Force insisted the was caused by an improperly set altimeter, but since the misidentification happened in broad daylight over a lake surrounded by desert bluffs, there has been much speculation that the pilot was just another airman trying to set the absolute record for the lowest flight ever. Given Lake Mead's current rate of shrinkage, we may be seeing the B-29 soon.
