Bravetart Worms & dirt cake for husband's birthday!
The base recipe is Stella Park's very easy devil's food cake + chocolate swiss meringue buttercream.

Then I added instant pudding mix, crushed Oreos, gummy worms, a pocky fence, and learned how to make edible moss! A lot of parts but relaticely easy and rewarding for a chance to capture being a kid again!

It’s beautiful and I wish I had a piece!!!!
When I worked a corporate job, we had daily catered lunch. I’ve never seen so many adults with advanced degrees filled with childlike joy like I did the day the caterers brought in dirt cake for dessert.

Yes! I divided a mug cake recipe and colored it different shades of green, then tore it into "moss" clumps.

There are many different ways to do it! I did one once where you make a basic cake in a small dish in the microwave. (Edible, but not super delicious.) If you cook it a tiny bit too much, you get some great variation in color.
You can also take most any cake or sugar cookie recipe, dye it green, and crumble it up.

This looks so good! It's also scratching at this itch I've been having lately which is "why is worms and dirt/dirt cake not a thing anymore"? I would think restaurants or even bakeries could make the core ingredients in-house and make it a little elevated. Yours looks like exactly what I'm talking about!

I haven't had dirt cake since I was a kid! we used to make it in a little plastic toy wheel barrel, but I really love the pocky and edible moss touch!
