Sorry if this is dumb, I’m a new diver. My mom gave me this along with a pair of fins and I’m not exactly sure what it’s for. Can anyone help me?

I am interested in peoples’ opinions on 2 people diving together with nobody else- no divemaster or guide or other divers along. How much experience is considered to be enough?

My daughter and her dive buddy just told me they went diving today, just the 2 of them. Shore diving in an area with not great visibility. I am very nervous about it and asked them not to do that again.

My husband and I are divers, about 150 dives each. We’ve done shore diving together, just the 2 of us, but not until we had about 60 dives in, and in an area with great visibility. My daughter is a new diver- I am guessing 15 dives max. Her buddy has a few more.

My friend is going to Madeira in October and I would like to gift him a trial dive to see if he likes it. I know Madeira is not the most insane place to dive in the world, but I think that does not matter in his case. Do you have tips what place I could send him to?

Has anyone gone diving in Cabo (the corridor and marine park)?

I have my AOW with about 25 dives. However, all but one of my dives was in a quarry (the other was a deep dive at a lake). This will be my first saltwater dive, and I'm a little nervous!

How are the diving conditions? Any recommendations for saltwater diving?

In B (BCD) you test if you can fill your BCD with air, but you then do A (Air) after to check if you even have air?

Hey guys! I’ve been a lurker or dropped a comment or two for a while here, but recently we did a cool dive in Maria Concordia in Poland, and wanted to share a quick video I did from the first level. Enjoy!

I have 77 dives, and 60 of which were from west end, Roatan. I'm planning on working remotely out of Indonesia next summer, probably on Bali as I heard it's a good base for remote work. I would want to get quick daily dives in on the weekdays, and can go further out on the weekends. I will probably spend 6-8 weeks in Indonesia, but will probably take 2-3 weeks of PTO so I can do some liveaboards, so I won't be working the whole time

This was easy to do on Roatan because the dive sites are accessible by boat within a few min, so I can usually get 2 dives (or even 3 on some days) and still manage to work full time.

I heard Amed is mostly shore diving, and was wondering how the dives compare to what I experienced on Roatan.

I understand that SEA is generally considered better in terms of healthier reefs and more vibrant life compared to the Caribbean, but is this true for Amed as well, or only the top destinations like Komodo and RA?

Hi scuba friends, I'm going to Puerto Rico this weekend but I'll only have one full day on the island as it's a work related trip. I'll have a full Saturday to myself and will fly back 3pm Sunday, so trying to be done diving by 3pm Saturday. The other consideration for me is that I'm going with a friend/co-worker and it would be cool if we could go out on the same boat and they could snorkel while I dive (I've been on several boats that charter both at the same time, but my priority is getting into the water for a nice dive while I have the opportunity).

If anyone has any advice or experiences to share like good shops, good sites, especially if it's beyond just what Google will recommend, companies, etc. I'd like to hear it. If what I'm looking for isn't feasible that's also okay, but may as well see if it's possible while I have the opportunity and while the plane ticket is on the company dime.

Hey all, I've never scuba dived before and have a trip to the Cayman Islands coming up. Wondering if this is the right time to dip my toes in and get my open water cert.

Looking at our itinerary, if we went to Cayman Brac to dive we would only have about 2.5 days of dive time (we'd need to stop diving 24 hours before our flight home, so we'd just go hiking on the last half day). If I do a referral course I'd need to do 4 dives over 2 days to get my cert, would that be worth it? Are the dives you do in the referral course interesting or do you just stay in the shallows? Is it typical to do some extra dives on the second day after you cert?

My partner is already OW certified but would do a refresher course, would a dive shop take both of us and let them tag along for the rest of my class dives?

We could also just stay on Grand Cayman the entire time and get 4 days of diving, but it seems like the diving on Grand Cayman is much worse than Brac. Or we could skip Grand Cayman entirely and get 4 days of diving on Brac (but we also want to do some beachy/non diving activities as well). Or, we skip diving entirely and just snorkel/hike/beach instead. Curious on people's thoughts!

Edit: to clarify, I'd do the classroom portion and confined dives near me before the trip, and just do the open water referral dives on the trip.

Been doing some research and this one seems to be great for the price. Seeing prices for it between $100-120 AUD and considering that I've seen ones for $200-300 or even higher, this seems like great value. It's got that wide glass with no middle border so vision would be excellent, as good as it gets.

I'm a beginner diver, been snorkeling for years and I've never used a mask that doesn't have a frame so I'm a bit concerned about the sturdiness of it and how it holds up underwater. Especially as you go deeper in the water and pressure presses it against your face (I'm aware you can relieve this by exhaling through your nose). Due to its frameless nature, it can be folded completely flat which makes it super convenient for travelling but again, bit concerned with durability and reliability.

It's a super popular choice amongst divers so it must be a great option. When I get the chance, I'll definitely go to my local dive shop and try it on. If anyone has tried this mask or has it, would love to hear a review :) Thanks!

Just wanted to ask if anyone's done the Ocean Divers four dive weekend in Killary/Leterfrak?

There's one in about two weeks time, but worrying that it's getting towards the end of September. There's going to be cold water off the hills and the air temperature may not be great. I'm sure the temperature down deep will be fine, bearing in mind that I'll be doing it in a semi-dry suit if I do it. What's people's opinion? Have you done it? Did you get good crack out of it? I'm just going to test myself for the Irish environment to see if I want to keep diving in Ireland, generally having done all my diving in warm climates.

Hello, getting OW license rn and found 2 Red Sea liveaboards with no dive prerequisites (Amelie and New Sambo)

1) What area is better suited for a very inexperienced beginner (tryna get practice in this way. I live in a landlocked place sadly)

2) how is the reef quality between Hurghada vs Fury Shoals areas?

Amelie: (Hurghada, wrecks, Shaab El Erg, reefs etc)

New Sambo: (Fury Shoals, Sataya, Lahami, Wadi El Gemal, etc)

Not my biggest haul, but this is part of what I found while leading a boat of divers up to South Carolina for the weekend.

From what I've heard, PADI is more well-known/prestigious and therefore commands a higher price? I did my open water certification with PADI but my local dive shop also has SDI? I also know there's SSI and the prices for their advanced open water course and other course seem to vary.

Obviously, at first glance it makes sense to just go with whoever is cheaper but, is that fine? Do I get anything more out of paying a premium price for PADI courses over SDI, for instance?

Since I've done the PADI open water, do I need to stick with them? Do I need to do the SDI open water course before the advanced open water?

We're travelling to Grand Turk for a week of diving in February. We have a tight(ish) connection landing at 3:05PM and the flight to Grand Turk leaves at 5:00PM. We have purchased the concierge service which supposedly shaves significant time off our customs processing. For those of you that have done this transfer, how tight is this? I realize that if the incoming flight is late we're kind of screwed but it's a direct flight so hopefully the shenanigans should be minimized.

Also, for scuba content, what are the dives sites that must be done while we're there?

Buenas noches, al final me compré la Cressi Goa. La compré de segunda mano en Amazon y hay dos cosas que me llaman la atención:

1. Pone LOG 2, pero no soy capaz de acceder al menú, se queda igual, ¿sabéis qué puede ser?

2. En INFO pone que el tiempo en horas es 0 y la profundidad máxima 41m, pero pone que la pila se ha cambiado 4 veces. ¿A qué se debe?

It obviously makes sense for the first few hundred dives, but I feel like at a certain point, especially for pros, it becomes a somewhat redundant exercise when you’re diving places you’ve dove countless times and saw nothing noteworthy nor had any new equipment. I realize many dive computers can auto-log, but I find the information logged is often incomplete compared logging manually.

When do you stop logging your run-of-the mill dives? 500? 1000? 5000? Never?

I messed up. I didn't realize I connected my EVX200 directly to the bottle, and I didn't notice the O-ring was missing. Now I see this stain and I don't know if it's corrosion. Any thoughts?

Viz was poor, water was warm though. Max depth 30ft. Dove at sept 6, 8:30am.

Wreck diving at HTMS Kut, Pattaya, Thailand
Some footage from my dive at HTMS Kut in Pattaya. Thought I’d share a bit of background for anyone unfamiliar with this wreck.

She was originally a WWII-era US landing ship, later served in the Thai Navy, and was deliberately sunk in 2006 to create an artificial reef. Around 56m long, with the seabed at roughly 30m and much of the deck around 22–25m.

I live in Bangkok, so having wreck diving close enough for a weekend trip is something I really appreciate. You don’t always have the time to fly south or take several days off just to get underwater.

Visibility can vary quite a bit, so keep expectations realistic. But I think Pattaya is worth considering if you enjoy wrecks and are spending some time around Bangkok.

Anyone else here dived Kut? How were the conditions when you went?
