Applying to jobs in Chicago and a few remote opportunities as my current company is circling the drain due to mismanagement. I went through the interview process with JPM a few months ago but haven't landed even a recruiter call since then. What is it about my resume that says un-hirable?

first line is the ops outcome, not global operations manager if chicago or remote is the target, say that before the strategy essay

HR here with lots of resume writing experience. The format looks good, but I have a few suggestions.

Is the Core Competency section created with tabs or a table? Tables are not ATS-friendly and will scramble up the rest of your resume. If it's tabs, you're okay.

By reading this resume, it's AI-generated. Hiring managers do not like these resumes, as they make everyone sound the same. They don't make you stand out. So, many hiring managers will just pitch an AI-generated resume. You need to rewrite this in your own words and make yourself stand out. One way to do that is to have a Selected Accomplishments section upfront after your Core Competency section. Here are several bullets you could add there:

Managed an $11M CapEx budget.

Reduced average market launch timelines by 1-3 months.

Gained $1.3M in annual savings through an outsourcing strategy.

Yielded cost savings of $720K annually by negotiating contracts.

Generated $3.5M in first-year revenue with global teams.

These are just a few of the accomplishments/metrics I saw while reviewing your resume. You can provide more info in the bullets under the appropriate job.

Your Professional Summary is weak. You should include the job title that you're applying for in this section; otherwise, hiring managers don't know what you're applying for. They are receiving hundreds of resumes per open job on their desk, so you need the job title there, or it will be trashed. This is not a normal job market.

Let's say you're applying for a Senior Operational Manager. Here's how your summary could look: Senior Operations Manager with sound experience in global markets and leading cross-functional teams. Manages $11M CapEx budget and generates annual cost savings of $1.3M. Leads productive teams to generate revenue, reduce costs, and meet timelines. Then you can add the last sentence in your summary after this.

Your technical skills should be listed after your core competencies, as they're also skills.

Under Education, your degree should be condensed:

Bachelor of Arts, Economics, Minor: Business Administration, Public Health, (name of college, city/state) Don't add your graduation date.

This is very helpful thank you for the insights. I did use AI to reword some of the bullet points and vary the language but you’re right I’m likely better off reverting to my own version.

You have such great experience and accomplishments; you just need to showcase them better. Make sure you look at the job ads and use their keywords to list your skills and highlight any accomplishments with those skills. For instance, if they want a global manager to deal with global teams, emphasize that experience. Make it one of your first bullets for each job experience it applies to. You do have to reword and target your resume for each role you apply to.
