they just seem the same to me (side note i have only ever had one pet rabbit and i was very young and she was my moms rabbit so im not very versed in rabbit things but I'm trying to learn )

Trying not to handle them much. Only checking to see if they're warm and fed.

This is a complete shock. I have 2 holland lops. Both were supposed to be girls, but that was obviously not the case. I thought one of the lops was having a phantom pregnancy. Not even 6 hours later this is what I found.

I didn't pick them up till a day later. I'm so scared of disturbing them.

I adopted my rabbit 3.5 weeks ago. He is a 4 year old neutered mini rex. He is a free roam rabbit but has his enclosure home base too.

The previous owner said he stopped eating hay over a year ago (she said he barely ate it, if any) so mainly only ate pellets and greens. When I first got him, he had diarrhoea 1-3 times a day and his poos were often shrunk and small. The vet said pellets are high calories and greens are watery and to reduce them.

So I’ve been adjusting his diet: - I’ve reduced greens and pellets. - I give a handful of mixed greens in the morning (I’ve given wild rocket, romaine lettuce, little gem lettuce, basil, parsley, coriander, mint). - I give a little treat (apple slice, banana, carrot) a few times a week. He loves bananas and his bum wiggles when he eats it. - I pretty much only use pellets as treats and in enrichment toys (snuffle mat, interactive dispenser treats ball).

There is always hay provided but he doesn’t seem interested. - I offer meadow hay and timothy hay. - I got a hay cube but he mostly only chews the cardboard cube box. - He loves chewing cardboard toilet rolls and apple wood sticks. - I put dried herbs mixed in with hay in his rack, and he goes crazy digging in picking out the dried herbs, but I think or hope he is at least chewing on some hay when he does this. - He loves treats, once I put a treats bar hanging in his enclosure and he basically only ate that so I removed it worried it would be too much sugar. - The hay rack is also on top of his litter tray. I often add a top layer with fresh hay. At first I put hay everywhere (in the rack, a hanging hay bag, and a large round straw basket) but it just went stale and felt like a waste.

Because I cut down greens and pellets, he has been slowly gradually eating more hay, especially in the middle of the night when there is nothing else on offer. Nevertheless, he still doesn’t love hay or eat much of it. He barely eats hay in the daytime. So overall this means he is eating less calories in general.

He has been consistently pooping fine now and has no diarrhoea anymore. His poos are also much larger / rounder and healthier looking now. He is acting normal, still hopping, splooting, playing with his toys etc.

My main concern now is he is losing weight: - 26th September - 1.725kg - 9th October - 1.64kg - 16th October - 1.55kg

He has been to the vet twice in the past 3.5 weeks (26th Sep and 9th Oct) and they said his weight was at a good place. Both times they did a general check up (dental check, tummy etc) and they said everything was fine. They said that it should just take a bit of time for him to adjust to the new diet, but at this rate isn’t he just going to continue losing weight? When I got him I also got critical care just in case for emergencies, but have never used it.

Now I am planning to do the following: - Offer some more pellets daily. - Add a second hay rack somewhere. - Create a foraging box (hay, herbs, dried herbs, pellets) and put that in the middle of the room.

Is there anything else I can do? To prevent him from losing weight but also get him to eat hay? I know hay should be 80/90% of his diet, but at this point it’s more like 33:33:33 (hay, greens, pellets) for him. - Do I need to use the critical care? - Should I get alfalfa hay? But I heard it’s most suitable for child rabbits and is high in calcium. I also doubt he’ll eat that either.

Sorry for the long post, but any help would be greatly appreciated! I love him so much and want him to live long and healthy.

Our bunny developed a lump on its face over the last few days. Hasn’t grown or shrunk since we discovered it. Any ideas of what it could be?

Mrs.Petunia was just told by the vet yesterday she is a bit underweight, though she does not look it her spine is a bit bony and so are her hips. She is about year old and I bought her from a person who kept all the buns in a little wire cage outdoors and they didn’t really get exercise, now that she is with me and fully free roam the vet said she is probably being overly active and not eating enough. I fill her hay bin with timothy hay atleast 2x a day and she gets 1/4 cup oxbow adult rabbit pellets, she also gets dark greens occasionally as well as other treats like fruits and veg. Vet recommended feeding her alfalfa hay in the morning and timothy at night, I looked this up and I just don’t see this recommended for adult rabbits, should I follow the vets advice or does anyone else have any advice to help my girl gain some weight back?

Hoping for some help.. Daisy (pictured) is a 2.5 year old spayed Lionhead/English Spot mix. (She is not our first rabbit.) Our previous rabbit was only interested in pellets, so Daisy also primarily has pellets.

But over the last year, she's been deeming her pellets unacceptable, no matter what brand. We've been through 3 different Oxbow options. I would love for her to eat the Oxbow adult (or even young) rabbit food but recently she was only ok with the Kaytee Forti-Diet. She has an abundance of new (and floor) hay. She loves cardboard. She has a daily Oxbow vitamin and digestive.

And now she has given up on the Forti-Diet. We're currently trying to get her to eat more hay while we search for yet another acceptable pellet brand. She's moving around just fine, chewing on things, and pooping fine.

What is going on with her and her choice of pellets?

She does this quite often while sleeping or lying down, grinding her teeth a little. I don't know if I should be worried or not. Sometimes we can heard that she does it when sh’es is lying.

my rabbit has 6 week old babies right now. and she started doing this not to long ago. she did this when she was about to have her trouble puffs. what do I do? I'm shaking a bit.

I feel better knowing she hasnt been exposed to a male at all. Last exposure was with the male we thought was a girl. that was 31 days before the trouble puffs were born. is she just stressed?

the male is behind a wall from her. plus she was up at the house for a good while. theres no way she was exposed

This is my boy Cody, I got him today, ive been struggling to keep him cool 😭 my room gets realy hot.. it was at 85 f today... ive got ceramic tiles in his cage, a frozen watter bottle with a sock over it, a fan blowing at half his enclosure, and cool water for him yet he still breathing really fast and a bit sluggish.. hes been eating hay (not rlly interested in his pellets (hes on new pellets so I think thats why but I think he will warm up soon) every now and then he gets up and runs around his enclosure and plays, hes been pooping and peeing normally I think (hes my first bunny)) but I cant have an ac :( it trips my breaker, I do have a fan in the window that can be flipped and stuff.. is there anything you guys would recommend me getting for him?

Hi guys I thank everyone for their responses, fortunately she did give birth 5 days later than usual I didn’t suspect she had been pregnant because she was way past the typical due date 33-35 days (she gave birth on the 40th day this is a first for me..)

This is her first litter and I’m hoping she will calm down for a bit, she’s not majorly protective of her litter just yet (she isn’t lunging and she’s letting me handle the babies etc she’s mostly ignoring them and she didn’t make a nest but I put the babies in a nest box with hay) she had them on June 13th so I’m gonna wait a week to be sure that her calmed down behavior has truly calmed down and let her settle in as a new mother of 4 cute lil babies!

We have this one rabbit a continental giant girl she’s absolutely gorgeous color wise and I wanted to breed her she has a pedigree and everything but everytime we reach into the pen she lunges at us and she scratches us but she hasn’t bitten us tho she tried but we were too fast. We got her last month, at first we had her in a dog crate and thought maybe she was just cage aggressive but in the pen she has destroyed everything, throws her litter box everywhere, destroys the lil carpet we put down for her pen, etc.. she’s driving me up the wall.. and she thumps at us too. All our other rabbits are affectionate and cuddly even our most skiddish doe lets me pick her up and interact with us (an English spot mix).

This Conti girl we are thinking of making the hard decision to euthanize but I rlly wanna breed her before that.. issue? She keeps mauling any male that’s even remotely near her pen or tries to sniff her through the gates etc.. she’s an absolute nightmare rabbit. We genuinely don’t understand what we can do and we still want to get kits from her because she’s genuinely rare, harlequin, white ear, possibly Vienna marked, and she has split colored eyes (gray/blue and brown.)

I need advice, someone to tell me what we can do to try and breed her, what we can do to try and calm her down is there anything meds wise we can put her on to make her mellow out at least enough so I can freaking go into her pen to clean etc? This is a disaster.

I'm giving her space. I dont want to force any bond on her. I'm pretty concerned about her not eating much. I watched her nibble some hay so thats very good.

I’ve been seeing this rabbit on my property for a couple of months and today it ran in front of my path, stopped and splooted. Is it sick/in need of help or did I just make a new friend?

I went on a trip back home and on the way back to where I currently live me and my boyfriend adopted a bunny from somebody that had him for I think about a year. Ever since we got him, he has not wanted to eat any veggies no matter what kind I give them or what time of day I give it to him, but he is consistent in eating treats, chew toys, hay, and pellets. I’m not sure why he doesn’t eat the veggies and if anybody has any answers on that, if you can, please let me know. He also is a free room and I have him in a c&c grid cage that I leave open 24/7 and the first few days I kind of just let him settle in and I didn’t really do much touching or petting or anything just so he can get adjusted to the new environment because the previous owner did say that he was very shy and likes to keep to himself but now I’ve had him for almost a month and he still does not really like to be pet and he runs away very quickly, even if I’m being slow, in his line of sight or if I’m doing hand feeding he still likes to try and take the food away and go eat in the corner and I’m not sure why he does it. He is a solo male and that’s how we got him, but I’m not sure if he also needs a friend or anything because we do have other animals like guinea pigs and cats that I thought maybe he could try and bond with a little bit, but he doesn’t even like to leave his cage and wander around our bedroom. He’ll just sit in his cage all day, but he will dig at the floor and not even sleep on his bedding, but sleep directly on the floor that I have in there for him. I’m not sure what’s wrong with him and if this is just his personality or if I’m doing something wrong, but I’m worried about him and I’m not sure if he needs a friend or if I’m doing something wrong and I need to make some changes if anybody could please let me know. also a couple sidenote is the girl that we did get him from. He was severely matted so I had to try and de-matt him the best that I could, which meant that I did have to cut off a lot of hair, he wasn’t able to see anything at all, and I had to cut all the hair around his face, and his nails were overgrown. He has a bunch of pee and poop around his bottom that I had to clean off (including staining), so I’m not sure if he just has trauma from his previous household also but I have been trying to slowly do a lot of maintenance on him because he isn’t fully comfortable with me yet so I’ve been trying to take it slow

Hello everyone, I am in need of some help bonding my two female buns. My resident bun is a lion head she’s a free roam bun over our whole home and she has her room as her main space. We recently rescued a bun from the shelter she’s spayed as of 3 weeks ago and she’s 6 months old. We are on day two.

We put the new bun in our living room in a play pen and have been allowing them to take turns free roaming. Day one we put a barrier around the play pen. They were very interested and happy hopping when one got close, so today we decided to remove the barrier.

This is their behavior and I need help trying to find out if they are fighting or if it’s going bad… they both give each other space and while giving space they happy hop in between videos so I am unsure

We did separate after this and have only allowed about 10 minutes of being in the same space since yesterday and today…

Please help, open to any Advice !!!

This rabbit keeps showing up in our yard and we can't decide if it's a wild rabbit or a domesticated one. I was hoping for some expert opinions

I got a rescue bunny about a week ago.
No clue on breed, I was told he has some dark patches and gets darker in winter if that helps?
I convinced an old coworker to give him to me, along with my parents, because his living conditions were absolutely horrid. He does have a hutch but it’s open 24/7, at first it was to free roam my room, but until he’s neutered (9 days til he’s going to the vet) I put him in the hutch attached to a pen for roaming. And I really just wanna ask for a general checkup. He seems to prefer his hutch even if it’s constantly open but he’s used to being in basically a box. I was told he was 1, maybe 2 and unknown gender but they think he’s a boy. I don’t want to put him in his back to see though, I know it can stress them. I’m unable to get another bunny, at least for the summer and probably the whole year. Seeming as how he isn’t neutered, isn’t potty trained, never has been around anything other than a cat and was just in a box in a closet for most of his life I’m not too worried about it. It’s definitely out of the picture as of now, but worst case scenario until I move out (I’m 17).

But I do worry that I’m not doing everything right. I’ve given him some veggies, but I don’t see him eat hay often. I don’t want to make him ‘not like’ me or be scared of me when I pick him up or let him either. However, I like taking my animals outside. To avoid this I bought him a stroller that I can put ice packs in, despite how dumb it may sound.

I’m really not sure what I can do better, or how to bond with him. I’m studying to be an exotic vet but I honestly didn’t know much about bunnies beyond stuff like the meat industry, which I don’t support, and farming. I did a lot of quick research so I’m scared I could’ve gotten something wrong.

I found this YouTube channel through YouTube shorts, and saw a few of their videos grabbing a bunny/hare by their ears and sometimes this person would grab a bunny by their back on purpose. I'm not a bunny expert, but i'm pretty sure the way this person hold these bunnies is wrong and it hurts the animal. Please help report any videos of them purposely holding the bunny/hare wrongly. There's this person down the road from me, they have three white rabbits which I asked about and they are new zealand's, they got them to breed for meat but they keep them in a four square foot cage all together all the time, with a singular small water bottle and the flooring is just solid wood, they clean it once a week they said....

All three rabbits are kind of yellow because of how dirty they are, one of them has clearly a bad ear Mite infestation, and you can tell by the looks of the rabbits they have been fighting....

Just want to know if I can call animal control and anything actually be done? Or is this not actually considered a legal welfare issue?

I'm not mad about them raising the rabbits for me, I raise news even crosses for meat, but each rabbit also gets eight square feet minimum, and their cages are kept clean

My doe sudden started laying down and not being able to stand, eyes and nose clear. Not eating but she is pooping. I don’t know what to do. She’s weak and not walking or standing up. help!

Lots of growth and progress. I suspect in the next 4 days they should be opening their eyes.

Any tips on desensitizing them? The father bun that was supposed to be a girl was very skittish when I brought him home. I deeply want to avoid them being skittish like that.

For context, I am fostering two rabbits, Basil and Thyme. I don't think the lady who had them before me knew as much as I do and socialized Thyme with her brothers. And with Basil. And now Basil had babies.

Family tree currently: Basil x her brother = Thyme, Oregano, other boys. Thyme x Oregano = Chai, Chili and Dill. Chai, Chili and Dill were an accidental litter because no one told me when I started fostering Basil and Thyme that they were both pregnant.

I think Basil x Oregano also happened, because Basil gave birth anywhere from 5-10 days ago. She escaped the enclosure with Thyme, Chai, Chili and Dill and gave birth next to our water heater. Obviously dangerous so I put gloves on and scooped everything into a box and put her separated from her child/grandchildren. There were only two babies, a Dutch looking one and a dark colored one.

Chai, Chili and Dill are around 4-5 weeks old. I WILL be separating them at 8 weeks because Dill is a boy. I have two of my own ladies who are 6-7 years old and fixed and probably won't mind him.

ANYWAYS: these are very, VERY inbred babies. The Dutch one was much bigger than its sibling. Basil threw them both out of the box yesterday after moving them and then this morning had thrown the smaller one out. It was cold so I tried reviving it with microwaved rice in a sock. It was fat so she had fed it. When I checked on it this afternoon, it was gone. Cold. Basil licked her baby when I gave it back to her this morning so I'm wondering if she knew something was wrong. It was pooping and eating.

Anyways. The other baby is now alone. I am concerned it won't stay warm either or that she might reject it, too. I have kitten formula to supplement, because I don't think Thyme is still lactating and even if she is, she probably won't feed her technically sibling.

What can I do to try and keep this other baby alive? It's bigger than the one that died. I have another rabbit who is molting and I could probably take that fur off of her and line the nest a little more. I tried to keep as much of the original fur as possible but otherwise Basil used plastic bags for her nest... I didn't put those in the box. The rescue isn't really concerned, which is also bothering me. They mostly do dogs so I don't think they understand rabbits well.

Any tips are appreciated.

TLDR: foster rabbit gave birth next to my water heater, I had to move the nest and she rejected the smaller baby and I think it died from either being super inbred or hypothermia. Now I need tips for keeping the other baby alive, especially if she rejects it.

Could I:

\- Use my rabbits fur to line the box?

\- Use a blanket to line the box?

\- Use my other potentially lactating mom (who has 4-5 week old kits)?

\- Use kitten formula and a curved syringe if she stops feeding it?
