Why tf are these fanmade rosters always adding nobodies to the rosters. They’re gonna be adding RELEVANT CHARACTERS TO PROMOTE THEIR GAMES not abandonware sony exclusives from 2003.

My fave part about Smash is when they bring back weirdos no one knows and makes em relevant again. Like ice climbers, pit, mr game and watch, little mac. Etc.

It also opens the door to new games like with kid icarus :)

In a weird way having new characters to promote new games kinda ages badly like warhawk dude or heavenly blade girl for PASBR.

Not to mention that sometimes the older series can bring more creative movesets and/or rivalry ideas

The original game did it. Because there was definitely a PaRappa game to promote for the PS3 and Vita, right? It's not like his last game came out in 2001

Yes cause Everyone knew who was Ness, the Ice climbers, Marth and Roy, Captain Falcon and mr game and watch. When mêlee released. Even more some of the assist trophy for brawl.

The entire roster is made out of Abandonware Sony exclusives.

I there's only like... 5 characters who still have an active game franchise.

Back when the game released every character had atleast one game on the PS3.

Not PaRappa the Rapper or Jak and Daxter unless you count the remasters or PS Move Heroes

Because it's fun, and we all have those games that meant something to us even if they weren't"t super popular

If characters were added exclusively because they're relevant to modern-day Sony, the roster would seemingly consist of Kratos, Ratchet & Clank, Joel and/or Ellie, Nathan Drake, Astro Bot, and Aloy. A big part of the appeal of crossover games is seeing the developers dig deep into a company's history and pick characters who haven't had a game in a while, whether they're fan favourites who have been ignored by the company or lesser-known characters who could use another chance. (there are cases where picking a lesser-known character can turn out weird and backfire, but the same thing can go for promotional or seemingly relevant characters - Heavenly Sword and Starhawk feel like they've been forgotten nowadays, and that's not even getting into some of the third party picks from the original PSASBR)

Most of the actual cast was "abandonware".

because we're fans of a franchise thats aware their existing content..? like what do you want? a Finnis and ferb with a fortnite? collab in PASBR 2

Not always, games like PSASBR and Smash have characters in them that haven't had a game in DECADES so they're not promoting anything, like F-ZERO with Captain Falcon.

I do agree that a lot of fanmade rosters tend to get oversaturated with characters that next to no one remembers, like, not even in a "cult classic" way like MediEvil.

Their current games are boring.
