I recently bought a PlayStation 2 slim, just to find out it has been a roaches nesting ground. I sealed it in a trash bag and it’s been sitting in my garage for about a week just incase there are any still alive.

It does power on, but when I tried to get it to read a disk it wouldn’t work. I’m assuming that from the amount of roach shit… is this salvageable or just a waste of time? I would really like to try and restore it and get it working again. If anyone has my tips advice I would really appreciate it! ☺️

EDIT: Wow, this got a lot more attention than I expected. Just to clarify, this was not opened inside my home or even close for that matter. It is currently inside my garage, sealed inside a garbage bag until I get around to buying some roach killer tablets to add into the bag to hopefully kill off any live ones. Also, I will not be cleaning this inside my house I will be taking it far away from my home and cleaning it outdoors to avoid roaches in my own home.

Also a special thank you to those who read my post and gave me some helpful advice and/or tips with how to clean this console. I would like to say that I do have a bit of experience cleaning and restoring consoles over the past couple years so this isn’t a new hobby of mine I just have been very lucky to not run into anything like this.

With all of that in mind… I have decided I will be taking on the horrible task of restoring and cleaning this console and giving it a second shot at life! I will post updates as I can but for now you will need to be patient. I plan on adding roach killing tablets into the bag and doubling up the bag and securing it better while the tablets do their job of killing these fowl creatures. Expect there to be atleast a 2-3 week period with no updates while I let them rot in a closed container full of poison. Thank you! ☺️

Recently, I got this Final Fantasy X cover to replace mine (was a bundle one and I don't like the NOT TO BE SOLD SEPARATELY text). The cover itself looks good, I wouldn't look twice if I hadn't seen it side by side with mine. I feel like there's some difference in colors, but I don't think if this can be attributed to a reprint (mine was black case and the one I got is blue case, so they are a few years apart). What do you guys think about it? Mine is the top one in the first pic, the third pic and the left one in the fourth pic.

This game won't load past a certain point, it will play just fine until I get to this point, then it just won't load, any tips? It's only this game that does it, I've already googled this and tried to find answers other ways, but it's genuinely just not giving me anything helpful, please if you know what's wrong please help, the disc is in really good condition if that helps.

I was to hear some real feed back here. I know this has been talked about here before, Retrotink and others have also come out with new products. I currently have a 4k and the picture quality for my ps2 obviously sucks. I tried one of those cheap converters and it basically does nothing. I’ll post 3 comments. I’m not looking to spend 300-500$. And I don’t want to emulate. I really hope to hear from some people. If you recommend a tv, I’d love to hear the brand model that you had the best luck with!

hi, i know how to run hd pack for ps2 emulation on pcsx2 for my pc, and even run hd pack on my phone using nethersx2... my question is, i have a ps2 slim spch 70009 thats 20+ years old, whats my best bet of running hd pack on it? ethernet cable or micro sd card or is it even possible?

I am using this adapter to connect my ps2 to the monitor but it doesn't have a speaker so i try to connect cheap earphones but no audio so what's the fix? Will a regular old speaker with usb and earphone jack work? Or is something wrong with my adapter?

Been playing on PCSX2 again for a while, revisiting old childhood classics that I loved and played (not so well back then lol). Got into because of RetroAchievements as well, been fun so far.

I still have to add Jade Coocon 2, the Spider-man games, I already played Jak 2 and Jak & Daxter on the PS5 so I won't be replaying those any time soon.

Any suggestions are welcome really, I just don't like strictly sports games (fifa and the likes of it).

I tried to google this but had no clue what to look up. A week ago my disc was fine but now when I put the game in and start it up the intro skips like a broken record. I fear the game may be damaged in some way. Does anybody know what’s wrong and how I could fix it? Thanks guys.

Looking for long-term experiences with PS2 → HDMI adapters (₹2,000 budget)

I'm looking for a PS2-to-HDMI solution for a 4K monitor. I know a cheap adapter isn't going to magically make PS2 games look like modern 4K games. I'm mainly looking for something reliable enough for long gaming sessions with a decent picture.

I'm particularly interested in people's actual experiences after using these adapters for a while, rather than just specifications or first impressions.

For example:

• Has your adapter ever overheated?
• Does it get unusually hot after a few hours?
• Has one ever failed or lost video after heating up?
• Any flickering, black screens, audio issues, or noticeable input lag?
• Does it handle 480i/480p properly on modern TVs/monitors?
• Have you used one for months/years without problems?
• If you replaced a bad adapter, what did you replace it with?
• Are there any specific models/brands you'd avoid based on personal experience?

My total budget is around ₹2,000, because I'm also planning to get an original DualShock 2 and a couple of PS2 games, so I can't spend the whole budget on the HDMI solution.

I'm also open to a basic upscaling solution if something reasonable exists within that budget, but reliability is more important to me than getting the absolute best image quality.

I'd especially appreciate replies from people who have actually owned and used the adapter they're recommending.

I just have this question because I been seeing videos of people playing it's last minutes of their ps2 cause their gpus are dying.
