Looking for new things to listen to, most of my current favorites are beginning to be sell outs and are starting to feed misinformation and propaganda.

I love Pod Mortem’s style. I learn so many interesting things about how horror movies were made and the way all the directors and actors and special effects teams are connected. I love cheesy action movies almost as much as I love horror movies. I was thinking today about Split Second with Rutger Hauer and wondering how that movie came to exist, and thought a deep dive podcast on movies with that kinda vibe would be so much fun! Also it would be cool to use as a “to-watch” list. I often watch horror movies I’ve never seen because I want to watch before I listen to a Pod Mortem or Ruined episode about it, and they’re almost always good times! Either so bad they’re good or actually good lmao.

I’ve been through too many harrowing podcasts recently. I’m feeling a bit over all of the true crime and sorrows.

Looking for a genuinely good business advice podcast. Any recommendations?

I’m in the early stages of starting my own small business, with the goal of growing and scaling it over time, so I’m looking for something that’s useful at that level.

I’d love something high quality, practical, and really to the point. I want actual useful information and advice rather than a lot of random conversation or hosts chatting for ages before getting to the topic.

Ideally:
* well-produced and pleasant to listen to

* focused on actionable business advice

* knowledgeable hosts/guests

* minimal rambling, banter, or filler

* useful for someone starting a small business and wanting to grow it

I’m especially interested in marketing, getting clients, pricing, branding, growth, and the practical side of running a business, but I’m open to broader business podcasts too. Basically, I want to finish an episode feeling like I actually learned something useful and can apply it.

Burden of guilt is such a great podcast. I’ve only listened to Season 3 so far but Nancy Glass is amazing. Her voice is well modulated and not annoying and the recordings are well done and when you can’t hear something she tells you what you missed. Check it out!!! I guess you could call it true crime.

I've enjoyed the Trashy Divorces pod for a long time. I'm currently listening to the Sunny & Claus von Bulow episodes and it is clearly an AI episode. The 'Alicia' voice cadence is robotic, no Stacie, the mispronunciations, the lack of chatty deviation. What a shame.

If you can't accommodate the episode in your schedule, don't do it. Don't phone it in with a shitty AI version.

So im brand new to the subject of history, and my mega ADHD brain needs help! I compiled a list of history podcasts that I've seen recommended on reddit previously.

I don't have a specific region I want to start with, but I want to go in chronological order. I am american so naturally I have a big interest in American history, but I also feel that I'd like to know about pre-American history first. I have a really hard time starting new things like this, because I obsess over how to even start and end up spending hours just "trying to figure out where to start". Lol.

It's crazy and scary. On one hand i think: how can you give so much power to a therapist, on the other hand: when you are vulnerable and you dont have yet any experience with speaking to therapista, it is understandable. I just finished episode 1. I get a very uncomfortable feeling - is that theralist malicious?

Been listening to Knifepoint Horror for a while now and I've gotten through every episode. A bunch of them I've relistened to more than once. There's just something about the way Soren Narnia writes these. One guy talking, no music, no sound effects, and somehow it's creepier than podcasts with a full cast and sound design.

Anyway I'm kind of out of episodes and looking for something new. Doesn't have to be horror, I just want writing that's on that level. Any genre is fine as long as the storytelling is good.

What should I check out?

In a world where everyone and their brother has a podcast where they sit down in a room and shoot the shit with very little editing... or, even worse in my opinion, just slavishly interview another celebrity log-rolling whatever project they're promoting that day... i wanted to give a little love to the podcasts that are real works of creative genius. to me these are usually scripted and have an interesting central idea.

here's a few of my favorites. if you have any favorites, please share!!

1. Dead Eyes -- an actor doesn't get a role in the HBO show band of brothers. he's told it's because he has "dead eyes". years later he tries to learn more.

2. Ghost Story -- a journalist who doesn't believe in ghosts revisits the strange things that happened in his childhood bedroom....

3. Blood Relatives (from In the Dark) -- a really fascinating look at a gruesome murder in an English manor house

4. Day X -- a journalist uncovers neo-nazis in the German military and police.

I read an article shared on r/longreads by the Atlantic: "The dark side of mindfulness" which talks about people experiencing psychosis that is believed to be brought on by meditation. Lots of discourse around it and obviously a thread discussing it on the sub. In this thread I was recommended a podcast on the topic! Super exited bc I love when something I'd love to hear more about is in podcast form.

I’ve started paying more attention to what actually makes me stick with a podcast. For me, it’s usually the chemistry between the hosts and whether the conversations feel natural rather than overly scripted.
I’ve also been exploring AI tools like Podcastify,io. lately, which got me thinking more about how good the AI is becoming to generate this kind of natural feeling in a conversation.

[Help] Trying to find an early-2010s comedy/ghost podcast — guest told a 9/11 Ground Zero story
I’ve been trying to find this podcast/episode for YEARS, and I’m hoping someone remembers it.
I originally asked about this here in 2024, but my post was archived before anyone could solve it. Since then I’ve remembered several more details.
The podcast:
I listened to it sometime around 2009–2014, I think.
It was hosted by two American men, probably comedians, who sounded like they were in their 30s.
They interviewed people about their personal ghost/paranormal experiences.
I distinctly remember the podcast artwork being two cute cartoon white-sheet ghosts standing side-by-side. They were very simple/cute rather than scary.
I think the hosts were comedians themselves, rather than paranormal investigators.
The episode/story:
One of the guests was an actor or comedian who told a story involving 9/11 and the World Trade Center.
As I remember it, he had been on a train in New York, fell asleep, missed his stop, and ended up at/near Ground Zero. He described the area as having an extremely intense spiritual atmosphere, with what he perceived as a huge amount of angry/confused energy or angry spirits from the people who had died there.
That’s the part I’m most certain about. I remember being fascinated by the story and thinking about it for years afterward.
I’ve searched for this repeatedly and cannot find it.
Does ANYONE recognize this podcast, the guest, or the episode?
Even if you don’t know the podcast, if the 9/11 story sounds familiar and you know what comedian/actor told it, that would probably solve the mystery.
I’m particularly interested in anyone who remembers a podcast with two cute sheet-ghosts as its logo.
