My 90P 🌿

Got a bit bored with how the tank was looking, so I decided to rearrange and change things up to give it more of a jungle vibe.

Replaced the Monte Carlo carpet with Lilaeopsis brasiliensis

Removed the moss from the driftwood and glued Monte Carlo onto the wood — hoping for a nice cascading effect once it grows out

Added a Red Tiger Lotus on the right side for some extra colour and contrast

The tank is about 3.5 months old now. I’ve got photos of the before and after — now it’s just a matter of waiting for everything to grow in! 😍

What do you guys reckon?

Personally, I’m really looking forward to seeing how this one develops over the next few months.

I think I need to adjust the lighting for my tank. Using chihiros WRGB2 light.
Having hair algae in some of buce leaves and some leaves of bucephalandra —veins of leaves seen. I think the light is strong.
Current using the default setting for Buce.
Red 81 green 65 blue 100
The light run 9am-11am then 2pm-8pm ( total 8hr/day)
C02 start 1 hr earlier ( 8am-10am) and (1pm-7pm)

Filter - oase biomaster 850, oase internal filter bioplus 50
Fertilizer- apt3 3ml daily, seachem excel 1 ml daily
Seachem flourite substrate with ADA gravel stone

Temperature set at 23 celcius

Do I need to reduce the light or its imbalance of nutrients… need advice. Thank you

Hi, so this is a Walstad Tank, and my question is about my house plants/top plants roots, and they're amazingly extremely getting so long, I am worried about them reaching the substrate, do I have to trim the roots? top plants are: Pothos, Philodendron Burle Marx, Peace Lily, Monstera Adansonii, and Lucky Bamboo.

This tank has been 6+ months in the making. I built a custom 5 gallon sump tank for my 30 gallon aquarium with a HOB overflow and spent the first half of the year watching underwater plants grow. I finally got fish about 6 weeks ago and they’re THRIVING! I have swordtails and mollies, and so far there are 7 + 6 babies + 1 pleco!!
I’ve been adding leaves and branches slowly over time, and recently added water lillies that finally grew long enough to be placed in the tank!

My only complaint is that even with my pleco, there’s still some buildup on the glass. It looks like algae. Any ideas on natural ways of removing this? Should I get another pleco? The one I have currently has a voracious appetite and has grown a ton already!!

All of the plants are real! There’s a bunch of java ferns too that are taking over. I love the jungle look!!

Are there any cons of having this many plants and branches? Am I doing anything wrong? All feedback is welcome!

The fish seem happy and my water parameters are perfect (typically ~75ppm GH, ~120ppm TAL, ~80 KH, and pH of ~7.4, no nitrates, nitrites, or ammonia).

Maintenance day! I have not been trimming my Monte Carlo aggressively enough and today I've decided to dislodge it from the substrate completely for the nth time.

The upside is that there is no plant debris to clean up post the trim, the downside is the bald patch. Anyway, took a couple of dozen cuttings and plopped those back in and it will probably grow back in 3-4 weeks.

Heavily planted. With lots of fish. I'm going for an Amazon inspired vibe cause I fell in love with the Amazon tanks at the Baltimore aquarium.

I setup this tank a month ago and it coming along pretty well.

Tank size is 30*18*18 Inches.

I am using a Sunsun's HOB filter.

I'm dosing Masterline AIO Gold 4ml everyday.

Photoperiod 9:30AM-5:30PM with 1 hour of Sunset and Sunrise.

I feel like it’s visually “boring” but not sure why. Maybe too much buce? Not enough reds??? Fill the shadow area a bit more?

Need some help to improve visuals

I've been having problems with hair algae after removing my dying ground cover in the wake of some explosive growth from my Cryptocoryne. I was taking some algae out today when this little guy came darting out of some dense plants. This was the best photo I could get before it disappeared back into the plants, yes I need to clean the glass I know.

Will it be able to survive in my tank without a lot of micro organisms? I had some upon setting everything up over a year ago, but a combo of the aforementioned Embers, Kuhli Loaches, and some hungry shrimp (RIP) wiped those out. I occasionally spot detritus worms, but not much else. I want to start hatching brine shrimp, but I got laid off in June before I could get into that.

Which is why i keep ripping these out of the ground every time I grab something from in there.

What are these rooted plants?

Hello, I collect red houseplants and recently was gifted a 13 gallon tank. I’m hoping to get it set up and make a nice little planted tank, but for me red plants is a must, seeing green on them irks me.

As far as I’m aware, there don’t seem to be any aquarium plants that stay red without specific care including strong lights and CO2 introduction. I’m a little uncertain as to how it all works since this is my first tank but does anyone know of any that are relatively easy to keep red? I’m also not opposed to dark purples or browns, just anything but green. From what I can see, it looks like tiger lotus seem to more often than not be red?

If anyone has suggestions on specific plants please let me know, or perhaps some advice on how I would keep plants looking red if there aren’t any that stay that way in all conditions.

stocking is 5 male endlers, 12 endler fry, 2 oto, cherry shrimp and one dwarf gold gramai. plants are Rotala, water sprit, dwarf sag, moss, dwarf water lettuce, sylvan Min and a green crypt

Decided to do a complete reset of my tank. I had a 6month old tank with top soil and gravel. Wasn't happy with how it looked, and I heard fluval stratum was easier to clean up. I emptied my 30 gal that had fish and shrimp then added 17lbs of fluval stratum. 3 days later, everything is shedding. Is this normal? O have no CO2 and turned off the bubbler. I leave light on for 6hrs max. Help please! Im seriously regretting it.
