Fauna A Baby Ember Tetra Appeared
I've been having problems with hair algae after removing my dying ground cover in the wake of some explosive growth from my Cryptocoryne. I was taking some algae out today when this little guy came darting out of some dense plants. This was the best photo I could get before it disappeared back into the plants, yes I need to clean the glass I know.
Will it be able to survive in my tank without a lot of micro organisms? I had some upon setting everything up over a year ago, but a combo of the aforementioned Embers, Kuhli Loaches, and some hungry shrimp (RIP) wiped those out. I occasionally spot detritus worms, but not much else. I want to start hatching brine shrimp, but I got laid off in June before I could get into that.

Congrats on the baby! Mine also bred in my tank!
It looks like he is already a good size and not underweight so I would say he is finding plenty of food.
When feeding try crushing up pellets or flakes extra fine. Eventually he will join the school.
I did eventually get into baby brine but it was after they were already grown.
My roommate got a really good pick of one of my fry.

Crazy. I was always under the assumption that my tank wouldn't support breeding. I was thinking about getting more Embers when my plants fill back in, but I may just leave some hair algae if it's what's allowing their breeding. Hopefully I see a few more as I tend to the tank this week.

I didn't think mine would breed either when I first got them, in my college dorm no less! I was still very new to the hobby and was genuinely concerned about getting fish that would breed to much and overcrowd my tank.
They had a few that made it to adulthood. Then I moved back home and I think the water parameters changed so they have stopped.
