Depends on how understaffed you are. But... do everything is often the "job description". Everything. They only put people on the schedule for when business starts picking up. You'll open the store alone, start proofing dough, or not at all with their "new improved" dough. You'll do prep, you'll do the pre-sauce and cheesing HT. Ect. You're your own cook and cut table. Basically, just you and a driver until about 2pm.

And that's the day if you're an opening shift lead. Things are about the same if you're the closer.

Hi, ex manager here, run down of responsibilities.
-till/cash drawer (if your employee is short, document it and let your RGM know the steps you took if it was still short)
-cash drops (if it’s short it could be on you)
-shift management (if a cook calls in you step on the make line)
-inventory (if you’re short on an item, double count, if you still are, let your RGM know)
-cleanliness
-dishes (if not all dishes are done by drivers or anyone else, good luck)
-closing till/cashdrawer
-cashing out drivers

That’s the shortest way I can put it. If you’re just starting your RGM will train you how she wants it done.

Never work off the clock, I did like an idiot cause if dishes weren’t done I’d hear about it. I was disregarded, disrespected, and used/abused, sent a text that I quit and walked out during a rush after July 4th.

Hell on earth … period lmao

Paid for baby sitting teenagers/grown adults basically. With cash handling responsibilities. Hellish. And getting yelled at and cussed out by customers

You make sure everything gets done right. That's the description. You'll probably end up doing half of it though

Glorified babysitter. That’s what I say at least. I’m a shift manager and I just make sure everyone is doing good and what they need to have done gets done. You do like a few things of paperwork but it’s easy

Do everything and hope your staff shows up on time.

Yes, all of it.

I've only been put on stations. No lead training.

Essentially you're signing up as a sacrifice when the douchebag higher ups in your franchise decide that cutting staffing is a great way to save money.

You exist so that they can fire you, oat themselves on the back, and get right back to fucking the company into oblivion.

Do shift leads get breaks?

u/Joey566578 5d ago

My breaks were whenever it was slow 😂

u/LookTheresMe 5d ago

Breaks don't happen in food depending on State laws. Under 5 hours you're not entitled to any break or anything. We also get away by it by your touching your phone or not doing work while no orders.

u/AcidicBattery 5d ago

Depends what you consider a break because I’d usually take a vantage of any slow moment during the day to my laziest extent because it’d be a long time before I got off my feet again

u/ErraticProfessional 5d ago

I make sure my team actually sits to eat and will cover them.

As a shift manager for over 7 years with pizza hut, managing a store is as simple as maintaining quality standards, ensuring job aids are being followed, the store organized and cleaned, ensuring there is enough prep, dough, and staff for each shift. The managers should have a close and reasonable agreement between themselves and the RGM of the store. Communication is key.

Shift Managers are otherwise responsible for cash, customer complaints, and overseeing their shift routines and tasks. Customers are going to feed off of what you provide them, so if they had a bad experience, you can either make it better or worse by how the situation is handled.
