General Discussion Trump just dropped the Greenland tariff bomb : Markets may tank Monday night… but here’s how we can flip it for Gains.
Fellow traders!
Trump dropped his latest tariff bomb on Saturday: 10% tariffs on goods from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, UK, Netherlands, and Finland starting Feb 1, jumping to 25% on June 1. The condition? A “complete and total purchase” of Greenland. No deal, no lift. This is classic playbook stuff big weekend announcement when markets are closed, maximum pressure built up, threats tied to a geopolitical ask that’s a much heavier lift than past China episodes.
Quick recap of what this means for us based on the pattern we’ve tracked:
• Monday evening (futures reopen at 6 PM ET after the holiday): Expect an emotional dip in S&P futures right at open. Could be -1% to -2.5% or more if weekend doubling-down happens or EU responses escalate. Digest time over the long weekend might cap the worst of it compared to mid-week shocks.
• Early week (Mon-Tue): More pressure from Trump posts, but tariffs aren’t live yet (still 2 weeks out). Initial panic often gives way to not today realization.

I feel like the market is slowly desensitizing itself from the Trump tweets. There is definitely still some reaction but seems to be stabilizing as we realize he's mostly hot air with an opportunity to buy the dip.
But maybe sell the rip just in case this turns into real actionable tarrifs/trade war. Personally im not invested in stocks likely to be impacted by this (Autos, Luxury, European Industrials). Could see some volatility for a few days if a "freak the fuck out and sell everything" event happens but I'm just going to continue to invest for the longterm.

trade decisions should be yours based on your analysis, I always recommend ppl to stay away from Reddit gurus ( telling you what to by ) … ..here is what I know … after initial panic, smart money often enters beaten down EU exposed stocks (autos, luxury) or broad indices if futures overshoot. Wait for support confirmation, don’t chase the open. Good luck.

Eh, dont be discouraged. I got a lot of the same responses last week when i made my first stock purchases.
Redditors, for the most part, were less than helpful. The only real useful thing someone said is that a lot of the posts you see here are bots made to draw attention to drive price up so they can sell and leave you stuck with plummeting stocks
I ended up with like a 25% increase between last monday and friday. i just chose twenty penny stocks at random and went thru em one by one to check out the graphs, and the news. I tossed a few bucks into 4 different companies to see what happenz (and now im sad that i sold sls at 3.78, but i got it at like 3.20, and even though its gotten higher since, i took my win and walked away
Im nervous about buying it again now, at more than i sold for, but its said that it may hit 5-7 bucks/share this week

Very true, markets could ignore it by Tuesday if it fizzles… but judging by Tacos playbook , he often keeps the pressure cooker on Sundays with follow ups to maximize the weekend build up. Will be checking for any Truth Social blasts tomorrow ..could set the tone for Monday futures dip. Anything can happen, but the pattern loves episodic noise :)

Sigh... when will folks realize that EU trades as a block. One can't just pick and choose which EU nations to apply tariffs to. It would be a logistical nightmare, as well as ilegal (minor concern in the current context). US may go after individual companies or possibly industries, but that implies sustained attention to detail.

I am saying this as someone from one of the country mentioned.
So the tariff works is that the impact is that the importer pays the tariff in the hope that they will buy Usa supply instead . And guess who pays the extra cost due to higher import cost ? Its the end of line customers
So if u know u import from this region , prepare for even higher costs for u.
Also fyi if dk (Denmark) stops exporting their glp1's and Sweden medicine there is already a calculation that around 10.7% of us people will die in the next coming years.
And Europe stock market is open , so we will most likely dont care or even pump it due to our influence from Trump has barely any influx , and that would mean we pump and earn money , and then short before after market if we see that is the case , so win win

I don’t see how this would affect the minerals market at all. Greenland only has a few small mines there. And development of new mines are few and far in between, due to the lack of material support there.

My thought is it would only be a news hype bump caused by the potential for acquisition and control of those mines. I would imagine expanding the availability and ease of access would be a small run up at least.

European container shippers can be expected to go higher as they refocus. Maritime fuel brokers/ suppliers can grow on the back of this, especially with the reduction in availability resulting from the ongoing Venezuela situation. Manufacturing of arctic grade vehicles should see an increase in demand to backfill the large volume being sent now to Greenland by the Nordics & other non US NATO countries to support the 35,000 force they're sending for the " Arctic Endurance"war games exercise.

Trump has no authority to issue such tariffs without a bill passed by congress. We’ll find out if any of Trumps appointees support him on this next week My opinion is that Clarence Thomas will vote against Trump and may need one other to flip. This is one of the most assume things Trump has done. Under NATO US was already obligated to help defend Greenland if it was invaded.

Well I think IREN - I know its gone up but the target price is around 75. Its gonna go through upheavel they want to get more stock so only the big boys will end up holding, the best way to clear the small fry is through volatily.
Ps my previous calls : bigbear Ai, Open Tech, Bloom Energy called at 80,an oil play do not remember the name. ( but search through my feeds & it should be there ) all have gone by more than 50% from where I called it.
Ya this will be only a 25% return
