Because the companies want to control what you can play and when. An always online game has an off switch at will of the company. Like what happened with The Crew.

Obviously. How are they going to nudge you to buy MTX, monitor your gameplay, and also the anti-cheat they've added to the game to be sure you're not modding the MTX into the game for your single player game needs an online connection.

Theres got to be a way to take it away from u. U know the whole “own nothing” part.

It's how they check if you have a legit copy of the game.

Yeah, but is always-online really the best way to handle that?

No it's not. It's why I pirate when they have that.

which is funny because as soon as I buy a single player game and it asks me to log in, i return it and pirate it instead.

Because 1st they want to incorporate a shop at all times, 2nd they check constantly if your copy is legit or not and 3rd just like in multiplayer games that way they can ban you if you say something online they don't like or sum shit
