Question Froggie likes to dig deep holes - a lack of humidity or normal behaviour?
Once he hit adulthood, my frog started burying himself quite deep into the substrate (10 to 15cm depth / 4 to 6 inches). I provide a substrate depth of 20cm total (7.8 inches). He stays buried for five to six days before he comes up or I occasionally dig him up for a health check.
Is he doing this because he wants more moisture? I hydrate the soil every other day with a small watering can so it’s always damp (but never dripping wet). The soil seems to be alright at retaining moisture; there’s regular mushroom growth in the enclosure as well (bioactive).
Air humidity is between 70 and 80% during daytime, 80 to 90% at night.
What do you think? Thanks!

There can be 100 reasons why a Pacman would burry.
The first one is that this is their nature.
Your substrate looks wet.
No reason to worry if your frog eats while she is at the surface.
She also looks very healthy.

😅 I think he would dig through the bottom of the enclosure if he could haha
Thank you!

burrowing deep is completely normal and totally fine, that's kind of just what they do lolol. as long as your substrate clumps when squeezed but doesn't drip, and you keep the humidity at 60–80%, he'll be fine!

Oh I forgot to add: The substrate is a mix of organic soil (80%) and coco fibre (20%). There’s a drainage layer underneath.
(The soil may look dry/sandy in the photo, but it has just been watered when I took this. It has a bit of a sandy consistency)

This may sound crazy but she pushed those leaves over there, then created the depression in the ground like a hovel, for next build imma take that into account, she's size of double cheeseburger

This is literally the most normal pac man frog behavior. I'd only be concerned about a frog who wasn't frequently buried

Mine picks and chooses when he wants to burrow. Last week after feeding he buried and we couldn’t find him anywhere. This week he’s been at the surface the whole time.
Depends on what they wanna do I guess 😅
