NUTTY SOUND: Madness & The 2 Tone Generation — from Kingston to Camden
open.spotify.comI built this playlist around Madness, but I wanted it to be more than a list of ska hits.
The idea was to trace the genealogy of the Nutty Sound: Jamaican ska and rocksteady → 2 Tone → the distinctly British mutation that became Madness.
It moves through The Specials, The Selecter, The Beat, Bad Manners, The Bodysnatchers, Fun Boy Three and General Public, then digs back into Prince Buster, The Skatalites, Toots & The Maytals, Desmond Dekker, The Ethiopians, Dandy Livingstone and the Jamaican roots behind the whole thing.
62 tracks, sequenced deliberately. No whole albums dumped in, no random shuffle logic, no ska-punk detour.
I’m especially interested in what people here think is missing, misplaced or historically questionable.

Listening to Artist discographies - Part 4: Outkast
Notes for format: I get these artists from people I ask online, and most of the time they're binged in one sitting, with impressions being based around the time I binge them, so if I listen to an artist alot, or it's my first time, it'll only be judged at the time I rate the music.
I do pay attention to lyrics but these are mainly judged sonically, it's like a 66:33 ratio of how Sound of Music:Lyrics. This is also just not a serious journey
It's ordered by placement on the album (and for the singles, date of release) and NOT from worst->best or best->worst, so read the color graph before anything else
I got the average through a point system I implemented by making the Middling tier 0 points, with the tiers above being worth 1-9 points and the tiers below being worth (-1)-(-9) points,
if you have any gripes, dont be afraid to say, as this is really just an opportunity for me to listen to more music and make sheets💛

André 3000 Joins Scooby-Doo: Origins Netflix Series Cast
Three Stacks has officially joined the cast of Netflix's upcoming live-action 'Scooby-Doo: Origins series,' which is set to arrive globally in 2027.
And there's a fun connection here: Outkast contributed "Land of a Million Drums" to the original 2002 Scooby-Doo soundtrack, alongside Dungeon Family collaborators Sleepy Brown and Killer Mike.

Goodie Mob “Dirty South” DAT tape
galleryGoodie Mob's third single "Dirty South" from their debut studio album, Soul Food (1995). Released in August 1996 by LaFace Records.
Dirty South is a song by Goodie Mob featuring fellow Dungeon Family members Big Boi and Cool Breeze. It includes the first use of the term 'dirty south' (originated by Cool Breeze). The song popularised the titular phrase, which has since been used to refer to Southern hip-hop.
Soul Food is the debut album from Goodie Mob, released in November 1995 by LaFace Records. All tracks were produced by Organized Noize alone except "Fighting", which was co-produced by Mixzo. Mr. DJ co-produced "Goodie Bag", although he was uncredited.
The lyrics and imagery capture everyday Southern upbringing, survival skills, family structures, and local pride. The "dirty" aspect acknowledges the region's heavy racial baggage, systemic corruption, and the lingering presence of symbols like the confederate flag in places like Atlanta. Rather than promoting superficial wealth, the track confronts deep-seated issues like poverty, crime, and the realities of Black life in the American South.
"Dirty South" gave the region a unified banner, pride, and an undeniable identity that eventually grew to dominate global hip-hop.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Tribute
It’s been a thing for me to create 3D pop culture pieces of OutKast when it’s possible I’m going to roll through Atlanta at some point. I know a few have seen the other pieces I’ve created, but I get tired of making them over and over because people love it. I decided to put my own spin on this and do my own tribute. I took everything I liked about the past works and created a fusion. I even finally started to use my $400 worth of scrap paper from a print subscription as a papier-mâché textured background. It turned out really nice. I love how I got lucky/blessed that the beer caps were the perfect size for 3000’s jacket👌🏾✨💛.
