Advice/Help Nightreign Onebro Community Co-op

Upvotes

Hi fellow Onebros. With Nightreign launch looming large, it seems like a good time to start organising some team members from the community. My own experience after the playing the beta is that a trio of players who actually know what they’re doing, work cooperatively and don’t just grab all the loot whether they need it or not, makes for a much better experience and higher chances of success. Particularly more so now since the games has been toughen up since the beta.

I suggest that the password just be: onebro

So if you’re keen, add your details below.

Console/PC: Gamertag/PSN etc: Region:

Mods- can we please have this as a sticky for a while?

Announcement New Rule #10 - Self Promotion

Upvotes

Edit: Reposting this and pinning

This previously was part of rule #9, but the circumstances were such that we needed to call it out as its own individual rule.

We are a community that shares our accomplishments, failures, and lessons. We love the kills shared. As we have grown, people have started to abuse this, disengaged from the community, and simply tried to direct users to their content.

Share your content! We love it. However, you should also be viewing and commenting on others as well.

As a general guide, Reddit Self- promotion guidelines say that no more than 10% of your post and comments should refer to your social media or content.

We are not going to retroactively punish people on this. What is done is done. Moving forward, we welcome everyone who wishes to participate in the community.

We are also not going to scroll through and do the math. Just engage with everyone. We all win this way.

with the help of this subreddit, and a LOT of trial and error (mostly error), i have officially become a level 1 elden lord, with 12/15 remembrances from the base game currently taken down. placi, malenia, and rykard stand in my way now to complete all remembrances from the base game, then its onto the 11 from the DLC. im a lil scared, but very excited, and i'll be sure to keep posted <3 and with that, the run that completed it all (edit: spacing for things)

+0 Trolls Golden Sword btw

My first No HUD run did teach me good stamina management and patience in punishing, but this particular build/fight even more so.

Advice/Help FINALLY learning Maliketh

I've always found phase 1 of this fight completely inscrutable, and frankly I think I still do—I'm just letting my hands do the work here and not thinking about what I'm seeing or not seeing. In regular playthroughs he gets nuked and for my uncapped weapon level RL1 playthrough I cheesed him with Ice Spear after struggling for hours and hours, but I think there's no way out but through for RL1+0 with only sorcery.

I'm on PS5 so there's no practice mode for me; I just got as tanky as possible and tried to survive as long as possible for a few hours and it seems to have paid off. Still, it sucks that there's no way for me to practice only phase 2 now that I'm getting the hang of phase 1! (Sort of. This is my first time clearing it just now.) Currently it's the pillars in phase 1 that often mess me up; I wish FS would just make a Normal Fucking Arena without some stupid shit in it for once.

Open to any tips if anybody has them!

Discussion Rl1+0(with aux) Malenia down, now i can skip godskin duo

Post image
Upvotes

Apologies for no video 😪 after this run I’m gonna get into the habit of turning on obs before bosses. Done Rl1 once before and this is my first rl1+0. When I beat Fire Giant, i found myself instantly dreading the godskin duo, until I had a diabolical thought. I remembered seeing a video where someone skipped godskin duo with malenias remembrance weapon. I planned to make my way to malenia in this run one way or another, so decided I’d much rather spend a few weeks practicing malenia than spending even a fraction of that time dealing with the duo. Anyone else had a ‘fuck it we ball’ moment like this in their runs?

it's actually crazy how much damage you get from scadu alone (this is sb14). I figured I'd go heavy on the blessings since it's my first +0 run and I need all the help I can get for most of the dlc bosses since I suck at them, but I didn't expect the damage to be this good. could've probably been a little better but not a bad kill overall I think. if I missed any punishes or there's some cool tech for this boss that I don't know about, please share. also just learned that he's not actually weak to pierce, the more you know.

Boss Kill Putrescent Knight SB0, Great Stars, 107 deaths. Thoughts on him below

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Didn't like this guy in my normal playthrough, don't like him now. Not even the fight with the most deaths by a long shot, but his runback is more annoying than the others in the dlc, he runs away like a bitch, he's got that roar attack, his combos are annoyingly delayed, and stone cross fissure has the worst running section for rl1 (not even about the boss but fuck it im blaming the knight for that too) good riddance mate and off you pop.

only positive is his spinning guillotine attack is pretty cool and the arena is a very pretty shade of purple other than that he can go fuck himself

Bayle, Metyr, or Midra next!

Advice/Help Rellana glintblade phalanx frametraps

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Just beat Rellana but I still don't know how to consistently deal with her phase 2 glintblade phalanx. I usually create some distance, strafe run and pray, but she can spam long dashes to get close range, do the gap closer double uppercut or the phase switch magic arcs and I'm dead.

I'm looking for a more consistent method, specifically for mid roll. Didn't want to look up any strategy prior to beating her.

Upvotes

Finally! This guy made me take a break from the game, the length of the fight combined with the variation in responses was testing my patience. I found some cool strafes and jumps but ultimately simplified it in order to get it done.

Also, the bug where he can just start moving immediately after phase transition and hit you with something before the explosion even dissipates is soooooo infuriating 😭Other than that, he's a top tier boss, 9.5/10

Advice/Help Soul of Cinder help

Upvotes

I have done every other boss in this game, except Friede because I hate that fight, sl1, all that's left is this guy.

In idk how many attempts I got to Gwyn phase once... got 1 shot by an attack I didn't see coming because ofc, and since that 1 attempt, Soul of Cinder has been the single biggest prick I've seen in any game, the homing soul mass is somehow consistently perfectly able to screw me over out of magic phase (went back to GS then a soul mass caught a dodge which led to me being hit by the follow up which comboed into another soul mass and killed me.... soul mass has been my bane this entire playthrough) half the time I survive past the soul masses, he instantly goes to lance and does a charge that kills me from full, and hitting without trading on curved sword is inconsistent at best.

I have used many different weapons this run, still have 3 more slabs as well as the infinite use bone for another and I could beat Friede, basically I can get another weapon if there is something better than DSA, but what I am mainly trying against him is minimum weight armor (to not get no armor penalty and keep fast roll), DSA, Grass Crest Shield, Prisoner's Chain, the 2 rings I need to use DSA, and Lloyds sword ring, I'd ember and swap to shield ring if I ever git to Gwyn phase again.

Any help is appreciated. I just want to be done with this fight

Boss Kill Placidusax (RL1+0, Hitless, No Aux, Shard Spiral 👹) + Tips/Guide

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Of course, shard spiral kinda makes aux unnecessary and getting hit less likely. This seems like one of the easier ways to do this RL1+0; here are my tips if anybody wants to replicate:

* Don't bother with the runback. Go to the Lie Down place, turn off Start Online in the settings, save and quit, make a backup (on PS you can just turn off auto backup and upload your save manually to the cloud), then just download it again every time you die. Starting offline, this turns a 1:15 runback (+ the death screen and reload) into a 45-second reload. Even if you only take 10 tries, that's 5 full minutes saved at least.
* Turn off Auto-Target. You want your Shard Spiral to travel where you aim it, which should be: "in a line that passes through the boss for the longest time possible".
* Learn when Placi will do fire breath—he'll always do it after the lightning strikes he opens with, though if you're unlucky he'll jump first like he did here. He'll also do it after his claw swipe from neutral. Run to the tip of his tail and make sure you're behind it, then feel free to fire away.
* For the phase 2 teleport opener, just find him, lock on, and light roll into him. Stay locked on and just run backwards for the two teleport attacks afterward, then respond.
* When he teleports again—this time circling around—run hard to the left and dodge with the same timing as for the phase transition move, but double roll twice to the left. You want light roll here.

This should be EXTREMELY reproducible if you're struggling with this fight at RL1+0. Physick has INT and magic-shrouding; talismans are Beloved Stardust, Marika's Soreseal, Stargazer, Magic Scorpion. If you can spare a great rune, use it so that you have enough INT to cast Spiral even if the fight goes long enough for your physick to run out—it doesn't have to, but it often will since there's so much stalling.

Run Completion RL1 Made Me Love Elden Ring

Thumbnail

Upvotes

The end of my SL1 run in DS3 was so exciting, I wanted more of that experience learning the deeper bosses in Ringed City. I decided to start on Elden Ring RL1, ready to quit whenever since I found the game pretty frustrating. I'm not big on open worlds, riding torrent around was boring to me, and the long delays/few opportunities to hit the bosses were frustrating. But at level 1 I learned to like the open world for how it lets you route runs, I appreciated riding torrent around more bc of the beauty of the game (unrelated to RL1 but still), and I learned SO much about fighting the bosses that gave me a different perspective. By the end I was sad it was over. How I felt about the boss grinds on the second slide.

Edit: To clarify the rankings are how I enjoyed the grind, not the overall quality of the boss. For example I appreciated Maliketh more once I had figured out where to get in damage, but Clergyman avoiding so many attacks by lunching or retreating was frustrating me for a while.
