Tutor Help

Upvotes

Hey all! I live in Oxford but am getting my MBA online though another university. I’m currently in a business analytics class that requires a lot of Excel understanding that I don’t have. Are there any students locally that can tutor for grad level business analytics? Particularly excel functions to merge and transform data?
Thanks!

Will I get in

Upvotes

I am current senior with around a 2.7 GPA and a 20 on the ACT, I have 4 years of varsity sports and multiple other club seasons, taking 2 AP courses currently, was in NAHS for a year, 50+ volunteer hours, and in a few other extracurriculars. I have been pretty worried about not getting in due to my GPA and ACT score. What are my chances and is there anything I can do before I apply to make my resume look any better?

Predicting the 2026 Season

Upvotes

WILL WIN: Charlotte, Wofford
SHOULD WIN: Vanderbilt, Auburn, MS State, Louisville
TOSS UP: Missouri, Florida, LSU
SHOULD LOSE: Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma
WILL LOSE:

Record: 8-4

NOTES:
(1) Yes, we made it to the semi-finals last year, but I think the team was more lucky than good. Kentucky, Arkansas, LSU, Washington State, were won by one score and neither team those teams were any good. I don't mind a close game here or there but if you are barely beating bad teams, you are not a great team. Not to mention South Carolina and Florida was close too.
(2) Biggest loss will be Charlie Weis JR, Lane was just a figure head. Charlie Weis is what made Ole Miss great. He's a bit young, but we wanted to make him a head coach here but Lane would not go to LSU unless Charlie joined him. If Charlie does as good at LSU, I think he will easily get the top coaching job any where (Bama, Dallas Cowboys, etc.)
(3) Biggest question mark is the O-line. Chambliss and Lacy are great, but the two losses were because of the o-line. They couldn't get the running game going in the in-season game against Georgia and couldn't block the Miami D-line.
(4) Game by Game:
(a) Louisville: Beat Miami in Miami, but had four losses, although 3 of them by one score. I think Louisville is a good team just like Tulane was last year, but Tulane couldn't complete with the size, strength or speed of us. Easily a 2+ score win.
(b) Auburn/MS State: Both should be bottom dwellers in the SEC, but for some reason both will be a close game.
(c) Missouri / Florida: Missouri has always been a good team but doesn't get any recognizance. Florida is a SEC team and we never do good in the state of Florida for whatever reason.
(d) LSU: I was tempted to put this into should lose after last night. I think the biggest problem is LSU knows our entire team. I put it in a toss up because I am biased but it's more appropriate into should lose.
(e) Texas / Georgia / Oklahoma : All top 10 teams. Only Georgia is at home.

Most likely 8-4 reason, small chance 9-3 and everyone will consider that to be a great season. Unless something surprisingly happens or LSU, Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma end up being trash, I see 9-3 as the ceiling and being ranked top 20 but missing the playoffs.

Dance in Oxford?

Upvotes

I'm a new grad student and I would love to get back into dance, but all the studios in the area seem to be for kids. Is there anywhere to dance recreationally (classes, clubs, etc.) in the area? I'm open to anything (not a professional but I've tried a lot of different styles).

Chemistry at Ole Miss — What’s It Like?

Upvotes

Hi! I’m an international student planning to study Chemistry at Ole Miss, and I’d love to hear from current or former Chemistry students. maybe alumni as well?

How has your experience with the Chemistry program been? How are the professors, classes, labs, research opportunities, and overall workload?

I’m particularly interested in cosmetic chemistry as a career, and I’m also considering pursuing medicine afterward, potentially specializing in dermatology. So I’d also love to know if you think the Chemistry program provides a good foundation for either path.
And where are you now—are you still at Ole Miss, or have you graduated and moved on to work or grad/medical school?

Any advice or experiences you could share would mean a lot! 😊

Starting a weekly home Hold ’em cash game — looking for regulars in Oxford

Upvotes

Tired of games that fall apart after a few weeks because half the group flakes. Trying to get something consistent going instead, same night(s) every week with actual regulars instead of randoms who show up once.

Looking for 6-8 people for a low stakes cash game (50 min buy / 300 max buy), probably 1-3 nights a week. Got some ground rules to keep it running smoothly long term, nothing crazy, just stuff like showing up on time, cash only, don’t be a dick when you lose etc.

DM me if you’re interested and can actually commit most weeks, I’ll send the details. Not trying to fill seats with people who bail after one game.

Is Ole Miss very conservative, and will I get judged or excluded for being non-Christian, and is there a lot of racism towards POC like me?

Upvotes

Please be honest, and I'm not asking in bad faith, it's genuinely a concern of mine, especially with the reputation of Mississippi and the rest of the Bible Belt and Deep South, and if I sound ignorant, don't take it to heart, this is just from what I've heard and seen online, and I'm just a clueless Northerner who is considering attending Ole Miss because I got a good scholarship.

Does English proficiency need to be submitted before admission or scholarships?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I applied to Ole Miss for Fall 2027 as an international student.

My application status currently says “Waiting Decision,” but I haven’t submitted my English proficiency test yet.

Does anyone know if Ole Miss can make an admission decision while the English proficiency requirement is still pending, or will they wait until I submit the test?

Also, does the English proficiency requirement affect scholarship consideration, including the SAT-based scholarship? Could I receive an admission decision first and then submit the English proficiency score afterward while still being considered for scholarships?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this with Ole Miss, especially international students.
