I bought all these new in the ‘90s I am guessing. Wore out Pretty Hate Machine.

I recently rewatched Broken. All I have to say is that majority of the movie was pretty tame. Mostly a lot of kinky, freaky deaky stuff mixed with violent scenes of the victim and the serial killer. Granted, I watched a lot more extreme movies, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. The sections of "Happiness in Slavery" and especially "Gave up" are where I understand why it got banned. The rest would make the average person uncomfortable. I loved how they showed the title in the very beginning but the static choice during the torture scenes gave me headaches.

I am interested in analyzing the symbolism. Like I said, a lot of freaky deaky kinky stuff mixed with violence. There is clearly a theme of lose over one's autonomy, corruption, male sexuality, bondage, desecration, instability, filth, even isolation. What most stands out to me is after "Wish", where the murderer rewinds Trent singing, "fist fuck". How that line gave him an idea on how to further abuse his captive. What I took as a lesson from the film is that some people should die. Lol. I mean the movie starts with the killer getting ready for his hanging. But this is only the surface. What do you guys think? Just a snuff film or a film with a point?

A hilarious response from Trent for the finished product, "makes Happiness in Slavery look like a Disney movie". Even funnier that years later he worked on a Disney Flic. Sorry, can't get over that.

The bassline from The Becoming has always haunted me. Originally done on a borrowed "OberMoog" prototype, the original synth underwent massive engineering changes, management, and versioning until it finally became the OB-Mx, which was a "better" synth, but didn't quite sound the same. I know this, because I owned an OB-Mx. Anyways, my new Ober-Moog VST gets pretty close, and goes beyond the original. Plus, it's got 500+ presets, an EZ button for randomization, and Hand Of God for impossible automated modulation. I figured this subreddit would be the perfect place to show this and ask the ultimate question: how close does this get? Video evidence

Thanks to friends over at ETS for help tracking the specific date down. I can confidently say that this raw soundboard recording of The Beginning of the End is from Christchurch 2014. For those who don't know, Trent's first collaboration with Queens Of The Stone Age was Era Vulgaris, the title track, and the said track has a remix done by Rich File of UNKLE, a lot of fans say that remix is better than the original, even though it has removed so much from the song, so I decided to take the original song and stick in the best parts of the remix, the intro and outro, here it is, enjoy!

If you cross your eyes and merge the 4 shapes into 2 shapes you will also get 2 other shapes on both sides of the main one and with them looking like 9s that could be representing 999,999 kinda showing that the album is looping in on itself in an Echoplex.

Still is such a complex and beautifully done piece of work, and honestly I would love to own it on vinyl. How much it's never been pressed again as a stand-alone?

I am this tempted to just buy the original 2-CD pressings of And All That Could Have Been just to finally have Still.

It’s a very different song from the original release version (duh) but does feel like it belongs on With Teeth as it is. I love it and have done since buying the Japanese version waaaay after the original but I’d love to know someone else’s take on it.

The year was 1990, NIN was playing a tiny club in Orlando. HLAH was just getting radio and club play. I was 19, broke. My bestie and I went to the club to score some $10 tickets. Ended up on their bus, at a table across from Chris, Richard and Trent. Some cheap beer and good conversation was had

The show was amazing. Heard PHM all of it, for the first time live in my face. Afterwards bought Trent chicken nuggets from BK across the parking lot. Turned down the after party because we partied too hard with Skinny Puppy the night before (Orlando is wild)

ANYWAY...what stood out to me that night was their walkout song was "I Am Woman" and I thought that was incredibly cool

I just want to preface that I know Marilyn Manson has allegations and I’m not discrediting them.

I just want to say Nine Inch Nails has meant so much to me and I have loved their music since I was in high school same goes for Marilyn Manson.

I love watching their concerts from the 90s from The Hate tour, Dead to The World, and the Dissonance tour. So many great shows and moments. I wish I was alive to have experienced it all.

Tldr: I just think it’s awesome if you wanted too you could’ve started with early NIN live saw the progression of their live shows along with the birth of Manson all the way up to when Trent Disappeared after his overdose.

One of my favorite shows is NIN live in Toronto 1994 such a mean show.

Someone posted the other Peter Murphy videos yesterday and it reminded me of the time they got together with one of my other favorite bands. There’s at least 2 other videos from this show out there too but I feel like there used to be more? Wish I could have been there.
