UAE leader warned Netanyahu of Hamas attack days before October 7, says report

Not only days in advance, Netanyahu had warnings of this attack more than a year in advance, as reported by the NYT. They made no attempt to warn anyone, cancel the event, or even provide extra security.

The point for Bibi was to use that as an excuse to kill civilians in Gaza. Everyone involved were pawns in the setup.
•
u/WisdomCow 3h ago
point was to remain in power, likely underestimating the attack, but certain it would justify war that would keep him out of prison.
•

The point for him, is to stay out of prison. He currently charged with fraud, corruption and something else i can't be bothered to Google now. So yeah... he knew and like his American buddy, he does not care about anyone but himself. Piece of shit is what he is.

Underestimating the attack? They fully exacerbated the attack. How many of the dead were killed by Israeli munitions? They said it themselves that they implemented the Hannibal Directive that day. All of those cars lined up completely burnt to a crisp that mysteriously got buried after probably didn’t explode from small arms fire and RPGs.

For the younglings that aren't old enough, before Project 2025, there was the Project For A New American Century which if I remember correctly, insinuated that a "Pearl Harbor like" attack on American soil would allow a lot of the policies to be enacted to achieve their agenda. 10 out of 25 of its signers went on to serve in the Bush Admin.

Hell, they specifically had less people on the border at that time. Israeli soldiers have literally testified to the Knesset that they were told to have less patrols that morning. Guards were also moved from the border to other places in Israel to handle the massive protests that were happening in Israel against Netanyahu's attempts to sideline the courts.
•
u/Parking-Interview351 3h ago
The soldiers were mostly moved to the West Bank to facilitate settler expansion but yeah
•
u/CustomerSuportPlease 2h ago
My bad. I got it mixed up with the fact that recruitment was down and some IDF reservists were refusing to return because of the attempt to control the court.

u/Ayries604 2h ago
This was because it was on a Jewish holiday(Simchat Torah), and they had less soldiers than normal due to a large amount of them had taken the weekend for leave.
The police were at the protests, which further lightened the security load, as sometimes the police patrol the kibbutzs near the border.
Also, not you, the comment below, but the festival was not moved to be beside the border. It was always planned to be there, as being near Gaza was part of the point as the festival was rallying for peace.

Border observers were warning command for ages about increasing movements and training going on in Gaza, they watched them 24/7 and knew all of Hamas' movements and behaviour yet the reports were ignored...

The festival was in fact extended by one day and was originally supposed to end on Oct. 6th. The IDF and local police gave permission for it to extend through Oct. 7th even though the IDF knew of the risk.
•
u/JesusSavesForHalf 3h ago
Attacks happen about every 5th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War. Being less ready than on the average weekend was shady as hell on its own.

They also moved the music festival from where it was originally being held to the outskirts of a concentration camp, between 2 occupation bases.

No idea how many times they get it wrong.
But I know it gets ignored a hell of a lot when the warnings are correct, going back as far as Pearl Harbour (and probably before).
I stopped attributing it to incompetence after they blamed the Oklahoma bombing on "severe beurocratic miscommunication".
Then 9/11 happened.

Whats the point of having them there if you will not believe them
"“A month and a half before the war, we saw that in one of the Hamas training camps they had built an exact, scaled model of an observer’s position, like the one we operate. They started training there with drones to hit the [machine gun] shooter,” Ilana said."
"Ilana said that when the attack started, terrorists used drones to hit their positions using the same methods as they had been observed training."

Nuance police here: the important thing here isn’t that UAE sent a warning and it was ignored because that actually happens a lot. Warnings get filtered based on lots of fake/unreliable warnings that middlemen (probs a better name for that) need to sort through it and only report what they think is important. Even 9/11 was warned about 5 weeks before it happened.
The problem here is that specifically Netanyahu knew about it and never told Shin Bet, Mossad or the chief of staff it existed. The main intelligence of Israel.
If I were to let my confirmation bias do its thing, I’d say it’s because Bibi wanted this to keep himself out of jail with a war as a distraction.

This. Israel wants us to believe that one of the best intelligence agencies in the world didn't know about the upcoming attack. Okay. They wanted to use the Hamas attack to justify the complete takeover of Gaza and expulsion of all it's residents.
•
u/JoshAllan02 3h ago
No different from the Corcus Hall concert attack in Moscow or the Kerman bombings in Iran. Both had prior warnings given by the US and its intelligence services.
I will never understand why countries don’t prepare and heed the warning, to minimize the devastation as much as possible.
It does paint it in a light where Netanyahu potentially overlooked the warning for political gain considering the internal unrest in Israel in 2023.
•
u/Rhamni 2h ago
I will never understand why countries don’t prepare and heed the warning
For terrorist attacks in general, there are a lot more warnings than actual attacks. You can know that some group is hostile and armed and wants to get you, but if you get 20 different warnings over the course of six months, all for different times and targets, the amount of effort you put into investigating each claim goes down pretty rapidly. It's quite hard to catch well organized terrorists before they strike. Plus, if you take the information and amplify it to warn the public, the terrorists have succeeded in damaging your economy and scaring your civilians without using up their weapons and fighters. It sucks, but it's a common problem. The US were warned about 9/11, but they were warned about plenty of attacks that didn't happen too, and the Twin Towers as a target were so much speculated about that the Lone Gunmen X-files spinoff used it as a prominent conspiracy theory earlier in 2001.
For Nethanyahu specifically, we don't know how likely he thought it was to be real, but even if he knew for certain, like you said he wanted to use it politically.
•
u/Fanfics 3h ago
Why would Bibi stop the attack? If it weren't for Oct 7 he'd be out of office and in prison by now. I don't think he (or Hamas leadership frankly) thought it would go that far, but an attack was the absolute best possible thing that could happen to Bibi's administration
→ More replies (1)•
u/Excellent_Reason7796 2h ago
I guess context would really help here. How many of these warnings do they get vs how many are actually actionable or reliable information. It’s always easy to point to the one warning but this reeks of “FDR knew Japan was attacking so we would go to war” conspiracy bullshit vs negligence or complacency

u/christhewelder75 3h ago
"I will never understand why countries don’t prepare and heed the warning,"
Because the government leaders see the opportunities these events present. An angry, scared populace is easily manipulated. And sympathy by other countries is easily taken advantage of.

I am clearly no expert. But from what I have read ,one problem is that they were always getting such ( somewhat vague) warnings, Hamas were always looking like they were training for such attacks until a point where the Israelis just ignored it as background noise and thought the Palestinians would never do it. Definately a terrible cock up amd failure of the intelligence services that people should be held responsible for.
•
u/0D7553U5 2h ago
Yeah news stories like this always make the rounds for conspiracy theorists to gawk at before moving onto the next headline. There were warnings about 9/11 before 9/11, the FBI knew Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a potential threat before the Boston Bombings, MI5 investigated 2 of the 4 bombers prior to the 2005 bombings etc etc. OFC intelligence agencies are going to be notified and are aware of these threats and potentialities well before they usually happen, that's their fucking job. The problem is that we never hear about the billions of other things they are also 'warned' about that never happen or are foiled before they do happen.

See, my issue is the thought terminating cliche "Israel has a right to defend itself." Ignoring any warnings doesn't register to me as "defending itself". I don't see any reasonable excuse for the lack of defense Israel had on Oct 7 especially given the number of advance warnings they got from multiple sources. I just do not understand how people can square this narrative of Israel constantly being under threat with the reality of not only the weak defense on Oct 7, but the lack of any invasion training that was reported afterwards??? Like, if I was in Israel's position, countering invaders would be the number 1 thing I'd train my soldiers for if I wanted to "defend myself".

One of, if not thee, most sophisticated intelligence networks on planet Earth who scan Gaza 24hrs per day every day, seem to have missed a large build up of pick up trucks and motorbikes by Hamas and Hamas hang glider training posted on social media.
Ignored all that and multiple source multi national alarm warnings it was coming.
As a Hamas terrorist scum bag said on that horrific day " as we approached the boundary fence, we were shocked that sentry posts were unmanned and we were given almost free unopposed entry ".
We all know that behind the Israeli leadership ignoring the loud warnings is the fact that the IDF were cleared from the area of attack intent and took hours to respond when the attack took place.
The ingredients:
Sociopathic far right extremist zionist cult monsters with a vision. Desperate reckless terrorists. A youth concert sacrificial lamb headline to be. Multi billion dollar US arms sitting idle waiting to be used. And most of all, the main ingredient...raw hate.
All of it a calculated initiated chess move by blood thirsty hate filled lunatics with a trillion dollar PR campaign fallback.

"Haaretz newspaper, in a report excerpted from a forthcoming book by its reporters, said UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke to Netanyahu a week and a half before the attack and told him that Hamas was planning a major operation."
Seems like a similar situation to Pearl Harbor. The Americans knew the Japanese were up to something but the idea that they would be able to pull off an attack on Pearl Harbor was inconceivable.
•
u/4g-identity 3h ago
For Japan, "up to something" could have meant like 100 things on multiple continents. For Hamas, it would either be something kind of 9/11 attack (hard to predict without intelligence), or an attack on Israel from Gaza. So it seems really weird to not just not fortify, but to radically reduce readiness on that front at that time.
•
u/ariehkovler 2h ago
The news report in Haaretz says that Netanyahu told Mohamed bin Zayed that the intel probably related to an attack from the West Bank, not Gaza. Tunnel vision.

u/DepthOk166 2h ago
We would have to know how often they get reports of possible attacks. Also the attack happened on a holiday. Were more people would be off. It also appears that HAMAS worked very hard to fool Isreal.

A holiday ... exactly 50 years (and a day) since a previous surprise attack war. Weirder still they wouldn't be on guard for the 50 year anniversary of the Yom Kippur War.

The spectacular success of this attack was a catastrophic Netanyahu failure and the fact that he is still in office is as incomprehensible as the fact that our orange stain is. His murderously disproportionate response to advance the genocide he desires should have him in prison outside The Hague ICC. Love to see his former advisors and opponents calling him out, finally.
"Netanyahu received dozens of warnings for October 7 and ignored them all. He is unfit," [electorol opponent & former military commander Gadi] Eisenkot wrote on X.

The whole thing was a deliberate false-flag operation involving Netanyahu turning a blind eye in order to stay in power. After imposing security cameras, a blockade, an air blockade, and other restrictions on Gaza for years, it is impossible that they simply did not see it coming.
Netanyahu needed this golden opportunity to stay in power and satisfy his far-right coalition partners, and he got it. He turned a blind eye to this because he was looking for an excuse served to him on a silver platter to attack Lebanon, Iran, and various other countries. That is why he deliberately ignored the warnings and left the situation unchecked. Netanyahu is a bloodthirsty war criminal.
