Family of 14-year-old found dead in singer D4vd’s Tesla seeks the death penalty

Thank you for sharing. It really highlights just how young she was when she died and how early the grooming started. Also to honor her life with her birthday. Her poor family.

I don’t think anyone will disagree with the family, he’s a sick individual!
•
u/PSiggS 8h ago edited 8h ago
The fucker threatened to kill that little girl beforehand and then stuffed her body in a trunk. I don’t know if malice even sums it up. If he doesn’t get the death penalty, the other inmates will certainly try to hand it to him anyways and then wear that justice as a badge of honor. They hate people who take advantage of the weak.
Edit: apparently it was even worse than that. If you want to know keep reading but it’s fucking depressing.
•
u/Bowman_van_Oort 8h ago
It would've been better if he'd just stuffed her body in the trunk.
As it is, he ordered kiddie pools and chainsaws off Amazon and disassembled her before putting the pieces in the trunk.
Yeah im okay with the euthanasia on this one
•
u/PSiggS 8h ago

u/bostonlilypad 7h ago
From CNN: “Small blue plastic fragments were embedded in the victim’s remains, and an expert with Los Angeles police made “a physical fit match from the blue fragments to the blue inflatable pool” in which Celeste was dismembered, the document says.”

"Inflatable" pool? Shipped directly to his home from Amazon? Not only evil, but braindead as well. This individual has nothing more to offer society.

u/TesticleMeElmo 5h ago
I mean, the case all started with him leaving the body in a car registered in his name parked on a public street. And then immediately going on tour where he has no clue if the cops are after him and they can just google his nightly location
•
u/CalmBeneathCastles 5h ago
Jeeez. I was a little late to the story, and came in after it was already in impound. I suppose it's great that criminals are so bad at it. I hope if I'm ever murdered, there's a trail of evidence leading directly back to their door.
•
u/TwoBionicknees 4h ago
it's genuinely insane that he did it and he didn't just decide fuck it i'm out and cancel tour dates, throw up a tour in some non extradition country and peace out.
Like the guy is bat shit crazy to do that, he's evil but he also seemingly thought the problem would just go away and if they found her body in the car someone else would magically take the blame.
It both comes as wholly unsurprising that most assholes who will do something psychotic are this stupid, but also a little surprising assholes like this don't ask chatgpt what the best method a murderer has used to get away with a crime was or some shit. Well maybe grok as it's more likely to tell you and not report you.

I hate to be that guy, but you DO realise that a LOT of the people in prison are there specifically because they took advantage of people that they perceived as weaker than them? We are talking fraudsters, murderers, rapists, people who beat the shit out of their partners, gang bangers and the list goes on.
•
u/blueskies8484 7h ago
People aggressively overestimate how often prison justice happens, even for child killers. Does it happen? Sure occasionally, but usually they’re housed with other child killers and violence in prisons is generally not related to the actual crime someone is sentenced for.
•
u/Mazterhandz 6h ago
Yeah from someone who’s done time, I’ve seen it but also a lot of people in prison obviously just wanna do their time. Especially if those people mind their business and be in the background.
Now in county jail I’ve seen some get handled lol. But eventually when they learn, they’re just kinda there. They definitely get treated like shittier than most but they usually ignore the bullying.
•
u/TesticleMeElmo 5h ago
Really it comes down to what prison system/prison he ends up in, but most likely nobody is going to go out of their way to pick up a murder charge killing him out of principal no matter where he ends up.
But being a celebrity with bad charges he most likely is going to be pressed to pay rent/get extorted his entire time there because nobody is going to allow him to be around or protect him unless they’re getting paid.
And D4vd isn’t a fighter he’s a nerd who got famous streaming Fortnite and singing emo songs, he’s gonna be victimized in some way for sure
•
u/ShouldersofGiants100 5h ago

Even when it is, it's not some sense of justice. It's "I'm already going to die in here and if I murder that guy, I'll look like a tough guy but no one will come after me."

Most criminals still have a moral code, even if it doesn't 100% align with the rest of society's.
•
u/banana_pencil 7h ago
My uncle was in prison a few times and said that while a lot of people were “bad people,” there ALWAYS had to be a “pecking order,” and the child molesters and child killers would be the lowest.
Though they would also often be in a different wing for protection. There was an interview with a corrections officer and she said the inmates in “child molester wing” were always so nice, polite, genteel. Then she realized that was how they lured their victims and avoided suspicion.

Not even just that. I believe his artistry and music is a manifesto to her killing. Between his lyrics, music videos, interviews and tour paraphernalia, and especially his unreleased album, I believe his aim was to be an artistic sadistic killer with notoriety. Death penalty and putting it all to rest would be best. Terrible person. Terrible terrible outcome.
•
u/blueskies8484 7h ago
California nominally has the death penalty, but no one has been executed in decades. It’s a complete misuse of limited state funds to pursue the DP there - it costs millions of dollars in trial and appellate costs, housing on death row is more expensive, and it will never be carried out.
I’m anti DP for a variety of reasons, but in CA at least, DP is charged for political reasons, knowing the costs AB are enormous and end result is still life without parole.

u/70ms 5h ago
It’s also because Newsom put a moratorium on executions while he’s in office. I remember because it’s one of the ways he started to win me over from apathetic to positive.
Governor Gavin Newsom Orders a Halt to the Death Penalty in California
SACRAMENTO –- Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order today placing a moratorium on the death penalty in California. The executive order also calls for withdrawing California’s lethal injection protocols and immediately closing the execution chamber at San Quentin State Prison. The order does not provide for the release of any individual from prison or otherwise alter any current conviction or sentence.
“The intentional killing of another person is wrong and as Governor, I will not oversee the execution of any individual,” said Governor Newsom. “Our death penalty system has been, by all measures, a failure. It has discriminated against defendants who are mentally ill, black and brown, or can’t afford expensive legal representation. It has provided no public safety benefit or value as a deterrent. It has wasted billions of taxpayer dollars. Most of all, the death penalty is absolute. It’s irreversible and irreparable in the event of human error.”
(More at that link.)
•
u/blueskies8484 4h ago
That’s true and I appreciate his position on it but I always point out it’s been decades - since 2006 - since any CA prisoner was executed to drive home the idea that it’s not just one governor’s moratorium- it’s now a two decade long practice, so it’s not like prosecutors pursue it thinking the moratorium will end with a new governor - they do it for political and publicity reasons and cost the state a ton of money for headlines, not because they actually think it will happen or feel morally or professionally compelled to do it.

the severe trauma it causes to those who have to carry it out
A RadioLab episode had a sheriff(?) on who said they have an insanely long waiting list for people who volunteered to join a firing squad. The people carrying these out are itching to have an excuse to end someone's life.

Firing squad shooters yeah.
But did you know they have to rehearse executions? And some corrections officer plays the role of the condemned?
Those are the people I’m talking about. They almost never volunteer, it’s just a part of their job duties, and if they are given access to counselling, most aren’t told.

I live in the town next to where she is from and I'm hoping to make it to the vigil.

u/systemhost 5h ago
I haven't seen any of that but there's certainly a reason she ran away and a reason her family did practically fuck all to get her back.
I know she was in communication with friends and family, she'd even come home from time to time but then she left again and never made it back home.
There was a missing poster made for her but it seriously felt like her family didn't try at all to protect her. Law enforcement failed too but I'm not sure how much they were given to go on back then.

While I agree with seeking the death penalty, this family absolutely CANNOT wash their hands of their part in this whole tragedy. They were FULLY aware of this relationship. They were inviting this man to come to Church, family gatherings, theme parks etc. They were signing notarized consent forms permitting him to act as her “guardian” whenever they traveled together. Her mother was driving her to get the fucking abortion(s) whenever he got her pregnant. “They tried their best.” I don’t believe it.
The worst fucking part is that the last time she left their family home, she was killed. She died in April and yet NOBODY in her family was looking for her beyond some of her extended family that disapproved of the whole relationship. She disappeared for 4 months and they didn’t go searching for her. It wasn’t until her body was randomly found in his trunk did they worried for her.
This whole girls entire life was marred with neglect and tragedy from beginning to end and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. I hope she can rest in peace now that nobody can ever hurt her again.
•
u/_FoldInTheCheese_ 5h ago
I didn’t know this background info. That’s crazy!
•
u/move_machine 2h ago
None of that information has been proven in court, it's what David's former legal team was trying to smear her grieving parents with to make him look less guilty in the eyes of the public and taint the jury pool
•
u/AccordingPears158 3h ago
Immediately what I thought seeing this headline. I’m not pro-death penalty, though I won’t feel bad if he gets it. He deserves it, certainly.
But talk about lack of responsibility. They were entirely fine with their young teen daughter sleeping with this guy as long as they felt he was rich and would elevate them. How can you pimp out your kid like that, and be so angry at him, and not in any way acknowledge that you had a massive hand in her fate? It boils my blood.
Celeste was only with him in the way she was because of that family. They didn’t just enable it, they endorsed it. If they feel he deserves the death penalty, they should at minimum feel they also deserve prison. Which morally, they do.
•
u/move_machine 2h ago edited 2h ago
They were FULLY aware of this relationship.
Prove it, because even David's former legal team didn't make any such claim in court. If this were true, they would have said so instead of reaching at length in court.
They were inviting this man to come to Church,
No, they didn't. His legal team asked if he went to church with "family", not her parents. If it was her parents, the defense would have jumped on that. It's well known that the victim's older sister knew of a David, but didn't tell her parents. It could have been them. Hell, David could have followed them to church without them knowing and the questioning and response would still be truthful.
They were signing notarized consent forms permitting him to act as her “guardian” whenever they traveled together.
David's mom was literally the notary public that notarized the document lmao. Her parents don't speak a word of English, and it's never been established in court that the document was legitimate.
→ More replies (1)•
u/Ding-Dong-Dutch 2h ago
It's not as clear cut as you make it look like.
It's hard to control a run away child. Yes, they could have gone to the police but would it have been helpful? She's already running away any moment she can. At least they knew where she was and that she wasn't sleeping and working on the streets. Nobody would be expecting him to murder her.
The notarized forms? It's not even clear if they are authentic. They were notarized by davids mom or a family friend.
The church? He attended a service that some family member of Celeste attended too (aunt or grandma) and there's nothing saying the family invited him
•
u/Ralphie5231 2h ago
13 year old are smart enough to break rules but not developed enough to always understand why thats wrong. Add to that a very rich and famous person with an entire team of people willing to help do illegal shit and it would be a hard fight for even the best parents. Especially poor ones that dont even speak English. They took her phone away and this man bribed her classmate to bring her another one.

Why did the family send their daughter to live with him?
•
u/tangyturquoise 8h ago
Exactly. They knew she was with him, knew his age, and immediately knew that it was her in the trunk. The mom literally called the LAPD and said she thought the girl in the trunk might be her daughter, and she was correct. The parents fucking suck too.
•
u/SilverAgedSentiel 7h ago
They didn't send her, she ran away. Several times.
→ More replies (2)•
u/tangyturquoise 7h ago
Yes. They did. He went to church with her and her parents. They signed permission slips for her to fly with him. The first missing person report was legit, but after she came home, they found out about her relationship with David and let it continue. The second missing person report was just to cover their asses. They did know.
I have been researching this case since day one. I haven’t really looked into it in the past few months because it was becoming too much mentally, but there is so much proof that they knew about the relationship if you just look for it. They even sent her cousin with her to “supervise” her at his concerts. They knew.

u/kungfoojesus 7h ago
Yea, it’s a bit odd how upset they are tbh when they sent their 13yo off with a pedophile. Don’t disagree with the death penalty in this case but the family certainly seems, mmmm, dysfunctional? At best
•
u/tasha2701 3h ago
Dysfunctional is putting it nicely. They were happy to essentially pump out their own daughter when they found out just how much money it could earn them. He sent Celeste $9k over Apple Pay as a “present” for getting her abortion. Minors need adults on their accounts for Apple Pay to monitor their finances so they were fully aware of just how much money was coming into her accounts and were seeing the expensive gifts that he was buying for her. She was their cash cow and they were happy to sign onto their daughter’s abuse if it meant that he would take care of their expenses.
And her parent’s egregious conduct is maddening. Her mother was the one who drove her to the clinics to get her abortions (she had two), not out of genuine concern for her daughter, but because her mother wanted her to wait until she was 16 and they could get married to have babies. They were ready to let this relationship evolve to MARRIAGE.
•
u/baconcheeseburgarian 6h ago
As her legal guardians you'd think they would have some culpability in the circumstances leading to her death.
•
u/domesticatedprimate 5h ago
So, according to the other comments below, the family were OK with ignoring the obvious sexual relationship, or pretending to believe that there wasn't one. That's messed up and took some serious drinking of the Flavor Aid.
They just didn't expect him to kill her.
I say the mother and father should, in a truly just world, also share at least a little bit of the blame, for example something like endangering a minor under their care.
•
u/XGhoul 4h ago
They (parents) would go for the Jesus defense, "the lord works its ways, we don't know how, but the holy spirit is looking" type of bs.

I agree with them, but let's not pretend like they were unaware of the situation. They knew she was with him, knew how old he was, and still let the relationship continue because he was rich. They deserve some type of punishment too, in my opinion.
Edit to add: I'm aware that, at some point, they did try to force her to end the relationship and took away her phone so she could not speak to him anymore. This is when he bought her a new phone and paid a boy from her school to deliver it to her. However! It has not been revealed what led them to make that decision, and they were initially okay with the relationship in the beginning, even allowing him to attend church with their family and signing papers for her to travel to other countries with him via airplane. I’m fairly certain they signed the flight permission slip when she was 13, but it could have been 14.

The entire story has been insane from the beginning and MSM did what it does and made it intentionally opaque to prolong the intrigue and get more clicks.
All disgusting stuff.

The family is no victim. They are scum. It’s the little girl that was groomed and murdered that is the victim. Her family is detestable

They should be held partially responsible as well. Why were they allowing this child to go anywhere with a grown man?

not trying to make light of this at all, but am i the only one who read this as the family of her was found dead and Tesla is seeking the death penalty?

I don’t believe in the death penalty, but I’m not going to tell the family they can’t want it. After what he did, if it was my kid I’d say the same thing.

Last month, Burke abruptly parted ways with his legal team and asked to be represented by public defenders.
Considering that public defenders exist for the purpose of ensuring someone can have legal counsel even if they can't afford it, which he can, I hope he's told to go fuck himself and to either pay for a lawyer or represent himself if he doesn't want to spend the money.

There used to be standards in journalism about having clear headlines, presenting the most important information first and in order and without ambiguity. Now information is portrayed ambiguously possibly even on purpose for engagement bait.

I mean a murdering paedophile seems like the kinda of person that the death penalty should kill if we must have one.

Reading his wiki profile and on the section about the case:
Prosecutors said that they found a "significant amount of child pornography" on Burke's iCloud storage account.[81][82] Burke allegedly has eight terabytes of data on an iCloud storage account; at the time of the hearing, prosecutors had downloaded one terabyte.
That's one byte too many of that kind of filth. What the fuck.
And in the Early Life section:
He is a Christian, stating in an interview with Astrophe Magazine, "I get my personal power from God for sure. Heavy believer in the Christian faith."
Ain't practicing what you preach, bruh.

Fuck her family.
Where were they when she was banging this dude as a 13 year old? How did noone strp in and set boundaries or report this? Why did he even have access to her for her to wind up dead? The family needs to be held accountable, as well.
I have a 14 year old and there is absolutely no way that any of this shit would ever slide around here.

The family is half the problem here. Who lets their 14 year old go on tour with this guy?

There is no death penalty in California. Best they can get is life in prison.

I'm generally opposed to the death penalty, but agree with the family here. This is the case for it.

They can seek the death penalty but he won't be executed currently.
In the state of California, all executions have ceased, which will lead to 1 of 2 outcomes. 1 being the most likely is that he will remain inside of prison until he eventually dies or 2, which is unlikely, would be that the next governor reopens and resumes the death penalty executions.
