Announcement The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - An Oral History from the Game Developers
Hello everyone,
As you might be aware, I've spent time over the last few months tracking down as many of the game developers of Morrowind that I can find, and doing interviews with them to talk about their experiences working on the game - discuss certain elements of their contributions, share some anecdotes and reflect on the game nearly 25 years after its release.
I'm really proud of this, and have tried to make this as authentic and all encompassing as I can - but there's still so much more out there. Sadly I was unable to find contact details for some people. Others either didn't reply to me, or turned me down. Hopefully one day we as a community can hear their stories but for now this is the best I can do.
This is 8 hours of interviews with the game devs. My idea for uploading one long video clip is that people can cherry pick bits they want to watch - but also to encourage people to watch interviews they might have otherwise overlooked/missed had they been posted separately.
Its difficult to put down in writing the impact this game has had on my life, as I'm sure it has for many others. I'll never forget my first experience playing the game on an Xbox around a friend's house and just instantly being drawn pulled into that world. Since then I've spent countless hours exploring Vvardenfell and beyond, and the game has been a constant source of joy and comfort for me. It's a game I will continue to love and play for the rest of my life, no doubt.
I hope you all enjoy this. A big thanks to everyone who took the time to do video calls with me. It has truly been a pleasure working on this.

Showcase I made myself a physical Morrowind Atlas…
Recently I have gotten into making atlases for my favourite games. For me, no other game than Morrowind comes close to creating such a rich, alien, atmospheric world. It is very nostalgic for me.
So, as a little hobby project, I made myself this Morrowind Atlas as a companion to my play. This is my second Atlas that I have made recently. I got it wire-bound so the pages sit flat on the table and I can flip through, planning my travel routes or seeking out points-of-interest. I even printed extra copies to "mark off" the areas I have visited, like a workbook. Even after all these years, stuff like this brings me new ways to play this gem of a game.
I won't post a link to it here because of the subreddit rules, but I did make it available if people want a copy. But mostly, I just want to share my love for this game that has brought me so much joy. I miss the days when games would come with physical guides, booklets, maps and such. What do you think?

Artwork Trueflame being forged
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Here's my progress so far on Trueflame. It's based on the ESO Trueflame. The blade is resin printed and I designed it on Blender. The Arduino board is a Nano R4. I'm hoping to have it finished within the month for my Nerevar cosplay. I was hoping to have it finished for Dragon Con 2026, but alas sadly it wasn't meant to be. I apologize if my speech in the video bothers you. I'm not used to making videos and I'm a bit camera shy so I tend to trip over my words.

Discussion You think this guy (Divayth Fyr) has an Ancestral Tomb? If so, where do you think it might be?
I know that, if he does have one, then its moreso a tomb of his immediate family as opposed to an "ancestral tomb", but i am curious if he has one.
Im assuming obe has not appeared in Online or Tamriel Rebuilt. And if it did appear in Tamriel rebuilt, I know its not canon.

Discussion Praise for Shadows Under Aimrah and Poison Song
Strolling around down on the mainland and ended up in this foggy town. I'm not sure if it is a new quest or not, but the "main" questline in the town of Aimrah is phenomenal. I'm trying to do as many of the non-Indoril quests as I can first (though I had to join mostly cause of the services being so restrictive lol). So, go to Aimrah on the north shore of Lake Andaram if you want a couple hours of top-tier questing.
Also, the Indoril lands are incredible. So unique, you can really feel the character of Indoril in a new way. It gives me a bit of a Shogun-y vibe, like this sort of traditionalist, backwards land of theocratic feudal-ish lords and commoners. And also the pink flora lol. Thank you to everyone for working on this and sharing it with us.
I realize I'm preaching to the choir here too, but if you haven't spun up a Poison Song run, what are you waiting for??

Screenshot I blindly stumbled on the dragon bone cuirass
I'm only level 11, and I was looking for some Dwemer ruins not tied to any quest so I wouldn't spoil myself. I needed to complete the Dwemer armor set, so I found one close to the town I was already in, which was Ebonheart. I went into the place completely blind, and it was only after I killed everything in all the rooms except for the final room that I decided to read the rest of the ruin's wiki page and discovered that the cuirass was in here. I had no idea this god-tier item was even here XD. I managed to beat the Steam Guardian, which has double the health of a normal one, by using my boots of blinding speed in conjunction with a healing spell and my steel battleaxe. I was able to beat him and get the key to the closet that had the cuirass in it.

Question What's the strongest crew in MW (+TR)?
Could Telvanni solo the Empire?
Could Tribunal beat Telvanni?
Could Empire push harder?

Screenshot The most ridiculous weapon I've ever enchanted (try not go to blind)
I'm running an old build of TR which includes an item called Wabbajack. It holds a monstrous 900 enchant capacity. I wanted to do something different with it, and always had the desire to figure out how I can create an enchant that simulates the Diablo 2 Nova.
Normally you can't enchant an "on self" effect with range, but after tinkering with the menu I figured out a workaround. If you enchant all your desired effects at the desired radius, then you can toggle on "constant effect" and then toggle back to "on use." This, for whatever reason, sets everything to "on self" without removing the radius. This is probably a known workaround/exploit, but I get a little excited when i discover this stuff myself.
Now this weapon is completely busted and unusable in a lot of ways. For isntance you need to have 100% in all 3 elemental resistances in addition to 100% magicka resistance or else you quickly kill yourself. It's also BRIGHT. like blindingly bright.
Why do this?? Simply put, I'm at the end of my playthrough and really wanted to make some broken shit. That's about all there is to it. Obviously this isn't a weapon intended for a general playthrough. This is just my cherry on top.
Disclaimer: I don't use Patch for Purists or the code patch. I'm not sure if you can fit all those in with the patch, since I think it alters how enchanting works slightly.
This also opens up the possibility for utilizing this idea to make more ethical, single-elemental nova Ebony Staffs. I'll make a couple and attach some links so you can see. I'll also link to a short video showing me enchanting the item and a quick showcase (me blowing everything up).

Discussion The guild boss's right-hand man asked me to establish a chapter in an unfamiliar city.
I found a boat in Vivec that could take me to Bal Foyen—a place I’d never been to before. I had to track down a fellow sister of the order, all on my own. The city is truly vast and magnificent... All this to say that NO other game can deliver that combined sense of freedom and discovery. Life is good.

Question How would one find a copy of the GOTY edition from back in the day that includes the expanded map in this the year 2026?
So I recall in my childhood finding this magical little game the game of the year edition of morrowind in a discount games bin at EB games, it was a mental game that actually respected the players choice to run off into the dangerous wilds and fend for themselves, it also contained a manual and a pretty map that covered all of the in game areas from morrowind to mournhold...
I am looking to in present times acquire said map once more, a map that hung on my wall for a decade or so, most copies of the game you see sold lack said map or even the manual and the closest map I could find on etsy was ruined by the seller deciding to add concept art to the bottom (which eww, keep that shit in an art book).
Anyone know where one would look for an original GOTY edition map or somewhere that sells replicas of similar size?

Literature Jornal
Wanted to share, figured other morrowind players could appreciate the novelty. Had an idea ro copy down my in-game journal entries into a real journal. Gonna take an entire playthrough and make it into a cute little side project I can thumb through occasionally. Bad boy is going right next to my Prophecies guide🤎

Technical - Mod Modding question re Telvanni magister rank
(Please see TLDR if you want to get to the point of my ramble lol)
It's a fairly long read packed with ideas, but part of this amazing Telvannis redo proposal mentions how weird the magister rank isnin vanilla Morrowind:
https://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/forum/marks-grand-telvannis-redo-proposal
Basically there are no magisters in OG Morrowind, and Aryon tells you that declaring yourself a magister will mean you're declaring your intent to usurp the archmagister. This seems like a stopgap idea for what was presumably planned to be something more coherent?
The proposal suggests a grand vision of having several smaller councils of masters, each with a magister, who then (at least theoretically) do what the Archmagister tells them. While something like that is way beyond my abilities, I wonder what consequences would happen if I were to make a small mod that makes magister an actual rank that a new NPCs actually use?
TLDR would it break anything if I made say Neloth a magister? I could also tweak Ayron's dialogue though it's already barely a formality since you still need to attack Gothren before you can become Archmagister.

New Player - Advice/Help How can I deal with high-level locked chests?
I recently started playing Morrowind. I had some trouble at first with encumbrance and the like, but thanks to your help, I managed to improve my situation significantly. However, I'm now facing a problem indirectly related to those earlier posts. I discovered a pair of heavy boots that boost speed (I even got the ones that blind you and managed to pull off the Resist Magicka trick, but I felt they were too overpowered—plus, they aren't heavy armor). The issue is that they're locked in a chest with a lock level of 75. My build focuses entirely on two-handed weapons and heavy armor; while I can open low-level chests, I stand no chance against one this difficult. I even have an unlocking scroll, but it isn't powerful enough for a chest of this level. Is there an alternative, like a specific spell or something similar? Or do I have to deviate from my build and level up the skill responsible for this?

New Player - Advice/Help The faces and hairstyles of NPCs seem to been randomized and I'm not sure what caused it
My mod list is just TR and it's dependencies, but I just noticed that every NPC aside from a few have different hair styles and faces than what they should have, is this normal, or have I messed up somewhere in the installation? From what I can tell I haven't had any other visual glitches or bugs that are strange for morrowind

OpenMW Found the Wabbajack messing around in TR - Incredibly broken
Noticed it was a clean staff with no enchantments. Figured it's new content, so might be better than Ebony Staff. I didn't expect it to have 10x the enchantment capacity.
Any suggestions on how to enchant this, or should i just go with the trusty elemental weakness/damage nuke
Honestly it's kind of too strong lol. It might sit on the corpse of Ralen Hlaalo along with my Royal Signet ring. Or maybe it's time to use them both and take up my mantle as god-king Nerevar.
I'm definitely going to use Almalexia's or Vivec's soul for this thing.

Discussion What do you think is the most racist part of Morrowind? (Lore)
That is, both in and beyond Vvardenfell. I know their Southeast border with the Black Marsh are where the slave raids happen (under House Dres, right?) but the proud slaving Telvannis are mainly based in the East iirc.
Doesn't have to be against Khajiits or Argonians, could be to any race

Question What other great companion mods would you recommend
So I've installed Julan & Arvesa in my current playthrough and am having a blast but I would like to hear what other companion mods would be recommended for later playthroughs that help enhance the narrative experience of Morrowind, I'm using openmw with the latest Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel mods so any companions that have commentary there would be appreciated.
