I really don’t care for seedless table grapes. Pretty lame in flavor. Only grapes I buy are Concord grapes which happen to be in season right now. And those little champagne grapes when I see them.

For $2.99, I would take a chance on a purchase and not try one of the samples that have been touched by tons of people after putting their grubby hands on the cart handles that have e.coli on them.

I get very particular when im buying "eating fruit" and probably wouldn't eat one. not because i worried about communicable illness or other peoples germs or anything like that, but because they are all the beat up ones that fell off while restocking.
Does that count?

100% those grapes have traces of random piss on them. i'd just buy a bunch and take my chances without sampling the random customer pee grapes.

I work for a grocery store, and it's disgusting how many ppl think it's okay to sample them right out of the bag. Cherries are worse because dipshits spit the pit on the ground.

It is ok. I've worked in retail/produce for years. I know not every store, or department is like this, but we encourage samples. We have a little banana stand for kids with free bananas.
If something is easy to sample, then have a sample.
When we get new varieties of fruit, were encouraged to try it ourselves and if someone is curious we'll usually offer a taste.
When black diamond watermelons came in, we'd regularly cut one up if someone wanted to try.
It's good business and it's makes people happy.
Yes some people suck and it's annoying finding cherry pits and cutie peels around but it will encourage people to buy and enjoy things they might otherwise skip and it gives me the opportunity to connect with my customers and make someone's day a little better. That's a W

I'd sample one cherry out of a bag (from the top) to see if they're good. If it is, I'll buy that bag; if it's sour or flavorless, I won't. In any case, I'll take the pit and the stem to where I can throw it away.
Usually I only do this around the beginning of the cherry season, to make sure they're not trotting out holdovers from the previous season. I've encountered that before. I thought there was no possible way for cherries to have absolutely no flavor. Sadly, I was wrong.
