Missing Peace He insisted on paying for dinner, then accused me of using him when I couldn’t see him the next day
Title pretty much speaks for itself. Am I missing something??

“It was a night like any other night when Cady, just getting home from what she thought was a lovely date… a date with a gentleman… until of course wasn’t…and make no mistake. This man Cady would soon find wasn’t a gentleman at all… in a case that would rock a town/city/neighborhood/community to its very foundation and where $38 would be the last of anyone’s worries…..”

100%! Guys like that always expect women to at least kiss them goodnight on the first date, but usually expect sex too. He likely got neither and is now pissed he didn't get another "chance" at sex with her the very next day.
It may not be all men, but it's almost always a man...

I experienced that recently. A guy who approached me in a street, he seemed normal, pretty good looking, good conversation. We went on a coffee date right away, it went alright, then he invited to take me to a restaurant later that day, which I unfortunately accepted.
While at the restaurant, I told him kindly like 3 times that he wouldn’t be invited to go to my apartment after dinner, he basically ignored my attempts and kept on telling me what we were going to do tonight 🥴 I ended up having to raise my voice and say “I am going to go home alone tonight, and that’s something you’re gonna have to accept”, and only then he finally got it, and he looked visibly ANGRY. I then had to insist yet again so he doesn’t walk me home. I absolutely didn’t want him to know where I live and had no faith in him not forcing his way in.

this happened to me before i even met the guy. it literally says on my profile that im not lookong for a hookup.
the first mention of anything sexual in the conversation and i explicitly made it know that we would not be doing anything of the sort on the first meet up nor anytime soon after that.
he acted like he understoond. claimed that he respected my boundary.
yet he kept bringing it up. at first i thought he was just making jokes, because thats how he was delivering it. but them i realized it was a "im joking but not really".
so after a few more of those i was like hey ik youre kinda just joking but i wanna make sure its understood that i still have zero plans on doing anything sexual with you when we meet up. and theres no way that is going to change
he was like yea okay sure but ya know anything can happen..
i was like i understand anything can happen bit im telling you rn that it isnt. it wont.
he got SOOOOO MAD. immediately aggressive. hostile. started insulting me. sent me a crybaby emoji and told me to go back to my ex since i miss him so much.
i was like wtf?? i made it very clear i dod not like my ex. i was only upset with how things ended.
i just blocked him. he then proceeded to go back to the dating app and belittle and harrass me NON-STOP for literally 17 hrs straight
AND then he had the nerve to VONE BACK WEEKS LATER and act like nothing a happened. no actual apology. just blame it on how he has no social life because hes given up his youth to care for his dying grandpa. he said it as though it meant he was obligated to sex
→ More replies (3)•
u/Citaszion 11h ago
Claimed that he respected your boundary then insulted and harassed you for having the said boundary… these guys are so fucking stupid :’)
My weirdo then tried to flip the situation and save face right before we parted ways, by thanking me for not being the kind of woman who sleeps on the first date LOL I called him out on it, reminding him how much he insisted for us to go to my place and have sex and he said “there’s no harm in asking”. He absolutely didn’t ask, straight up just assumed and took it for granted then acted like a child when I told him no.

Just a thought too - guys like this seem to be surprisingly common. I think they presume their outrageously courteous act of paying the $38 makes them quite the gentleman, and that you'll be jumping in bed with them immediately.
We can put it down to naivety, and hope they can grow from these experiences.
•
u/ian9921 12h ago
It represents a total misunderstanding of how these social rituals are supposed to work. You are not buying anything and are owed nothing when you pay for a date or a drink or whatever, it's supposed to just be a gesture of kindness.
I don't know what fucked these other guys up so badly that they don't understand how kindness works.
→ More replies (1)•
•
u/SheServedToo 11h ago
The thing is he was pretending to be what his idea of a “gentleman” is. “Isn’t that what you put in your profile?” Like the math isn’t mathing!
Gentleman = $38 dinner
$38 dinner = unlimited access on demand
Unlimited access = second date next day
Second date = sexy timeSo often men are pretending to be what we are looking for. If they know in advance what we require from a relationship, they will act the part. Then when their true colors are revealed, we wonder how we keep picking the wrong men.
Don’t put any specifics of what you are looking for in a partner on a profile and don’t tell a man what you want. Being vague will frustrate the ones with an agenda and more likely to reveal what they are really like since they aren’t molding into your description.
→ More replies (1)•
u/TurnipWorldly9437 12h ago

holy cow, i did not expect this to blow up the way it did.
i wanted to answer a few questions and address a few comments that i’m seeing.
i’m 22f and he’s 26m. we met on facebook dating and chatted for about 6 days before setting up a date. it was a bit last minute but i had the night off, so i thought “why not?” and accepted the invite.
for those asking if there was anything off about him while we were chatting/at dinner: no. he was extremely sweet, was kind with the waitress, and genuinely acted gentlemanly. he listened when i spoke, seemed interested in what i had to say, and he made me laugh. i thought it was sweet that he even checked to make sure that i got home. it never once crossed my mind that it could’ve all been a ploy.
as for the comments saying that this isn’t real or saying that this can’t be serious… trust me, that’s exactly how i felt during this entire conversation. i WISH this were fake.
also, to the random guy who said that i probably picked him because “he was tall”, he was 5’9”. i don’t discriminate lol.
i did not send him the $38 and i blocked him.

Actually, to me it reads as a super insecure dude who views her busy schedule and 'unwillingness' to switch everything around on the spot as a personal rejection. I realize that this is a really bold statement just from reading a snippet of conversation but idk, that's how it reads to me.
•
u/Elebrium 11h ago
That is not just insecure but especially controlling and abusive. The moment she did not do what he wanted to started lashing out snd demeaning her, this is a massive red flag.
Also these guys “act” gentleman but are not. Dont say you want that in your profile, let the partner be it naturally. Which usually is just having respect and care.

u/onedwin 12h ago
That line really stood out for me. Bringing up the profile means he’d have been whatever OP’s looking for. Almost feels transactional too. “You asked for gentleman, I gave you gentlemanly behaviour. You owe me.”

At least you found out this way and not when he was trying to force himself on you while saying, “You owe me, I paid for dinner.”
He’s a fucking creep.

Lunatic. Be glad he showed you who he is.
“See me immediately. No I won’t wait. I’m a gentleman. Let me cuss you out real quick. Gimme my money back.”

What a loser. If a woman told me she enjoyed spending time with me and made plans with me on the weekend, I'd say yes? Not fight with her because she has work the next day and not doing what I want.
You do Uber for work, so what? It doesn't mean you have free time to do whatever you want. I used to do it too, and treated it like a job with a schedule. You dodged a bullet OP.

Send him a Venmo request for $38 he’s probably stupid enough to accept it without looking

Ah, you found an incel. This dude has zero self-awareness skills, you did the right thing. He should be going to therapy, not on dates.

He’s a fucking asshole. I’m glad you didn’t send him half the money. Let that prick feel “validated” with his accusations.
He clearly understands the basic behaviors to come off as a “nice guy” but there is no authenticity to it. He’s either extremely immature or he’s a sociopath.
Honestly l lean towards him just being super immature. He was so locked in thinking about what he wanted, to the point that he literally couldn’t recognize you were offering a date later. Then he pouted about how he paid and he should get exactly what he wants, and as soon as you said “no”, he went on the attack to try to hurt your feelings, belittle you.
Definitely do not want to reward people like this. He needs to figure it out.

Come on, he paid for dinner. That means you are now on his schedule!/s
I'd ask if hes willing to venmo you the $300 you'd be missing out on by going out with him again, just to see what he says 🤣🤣

You texted far too many times after he revealed himself. As soon as he said "don't you JUST do Uber Eats."
Belittle other people's labor was red flag number one. However you make ends meet is admirable it isn't hurting anyone.
You gave him a lot more conversation than I would have after that.

Huge red flags all around.
I despise when a man try to be a "gentleman" by paying for the first date and hold it over someone. Like bro, the idea of being a gentleman is NOT to expect anything in return. You just act and behave like that without effort or expectations. Fuck this guy into a deep hole

Bro basically pulled out a sign like Wile. E. Coyote and said "DON'T DATE ME" (Edit: I also love the use of that SpongeBob frame, was the EXACT face I made reading his messages 😭)

He spent 38 bucks on you! How inconsiderate of you to not take a 300 dollar loss just to meet this jackass tomorrow.
