how can you record vocals properly or make it sound good. I've been struggling alot with how to record i only have a wired earphones w mic and a mobile phone, i use fl studio and i cant figure out what to do to make my vocals sound like its into the song ifykwim

For now, record your vocals on GarageBand on your phone if you have iPhone. Super user friendly and their vocal presets are solid enough. If you’re serious about this, try to save up some cash for a mic and audio interface. Shure SM57 is a cheap mic option that is used in every major studio around the country.

Just wanna add on to this to say zzounds has a decent enough intro package (mic, interface,headphones,cables) from Presonus on sale for like 130 right now, with option to pay like 20 bucks a month Presonus package

Things that have helped me: 1. A decent mic (doesn't have to be hundreds of dollars, but I have yet to have any success with dollar store mics, etc) 2. Either an open space, large room, or a room with something to absorb the sounds on the wall 3. Compresser and maybe a touch of reverb

Yes, different mics and spaces have different tonal qualities. And the best way to get good vocals (or any other instrument) is to start with a good recording.

But you can also do the best with what you have, learning a lot along the way. And sometimes the unique qualities of shitty equipment add character to the song, once you figure out how to get the mix to work.

Get a decent-quality microphone (not a USB mic) along with a beginner-friendly audio interface.
For example: a Shure SM58 paired with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo will cost you less than $200—and even less if you buy them used.
Treat your room, and even with this setup, you’ll get enough quality raw material to work with—provided you set the input level on your audio interface correctly.
You’ll take care of the rest in the mix.

Microphone > Pop Filter attached | then Performance + recording | then hire a good engineer to mix your music and another one as a mastering engineer. Gross part of quality comes from engineering, but before quality should have an enough amount of cohesive.

Add effects on your vocals mix it with the track and it definitely doesn’t hurt to get a better mic🙏🏾🙏🏾

effects are key but also check your recording space, even with a phone mic a closet full of clothes can kill the weird echo you might be getting

try recording a little further from your mouth too so it doesn't clip, then compress the hell out of it in fl

i mean thats what i only have for a moment I've been working on a part time job and its hard to pay for food bills and stuff and i cant save up properly but thanks for the advice bro
