migrating to Linux I Love Linux

I swapped from Windows about 6 months ago. I never really did any research and decided to use mint as my main distro. I chose this because back in 2016 I installed mint on an old mac laptop and had fun playing games on it. So far my experience has been wonderful. The boot times are way faster than on windows, games seem to run better, and its just so unintrusive not asking me to update this or would you like to default this or changing settings after a forced update or just being slow sometime just cause. My questions to yall is there a video editor like clip champ ( i know i can use the web version but i dont like it) and for my logitech keyboard, is there an app like G Hub so i can change the color of the board?

We all do! Welcome to the club. I currently am running T2 Linux on My Macbook Air with a 1.1 Ghz Intel i3 CPU. It's like a whole new machine, fell in love with it.

How is it to use? There's a few weird-architecture systems I've been considering trying it on.

Not having a touch bar and not having a dedicated GPU has made everything so much easier. So I only gave the common known issues like coming back from a long suspend period is not possible and rarely and ocassionally the bluetooth-wifo chipset makes Bluetooth not available to use, but I have a script that resets the chipset and drivers and everything is back up in 10 seconds.

Everything else works great and without issues. It's beautiful to have Linux on Apple hardware.

Next thing I want to do is get the 16" Intel i9 with 32GB RAM and without dedicated GPU , those have depreciated due to the M chip release from Apple.

You can try something like Kdenlive, but it's definitely a bit more advanced compared to Clipchamp.

If you just want to change the lighting, OpenRGB might work.

I've been doing it for about 13 months, and it's like aged wine, never gets old. Apps are great built by engineers that like quality.

Besides Kdenlive there's also OpenShot, which is more akin to what was Windows Movie Maker back in the day. (More simplified than the former.)

Seconding kdenlive

If you want something simpler lots of average laptops can easily handle we apps like YouTube studio now, etc

kdenlive should be very familiar to anyone who has edited in NLEs like Final Cut/Premier/DaVinci Resolve/etc. it's not hard to learn at all, and the skills transfer!

P.S. If you want to further edit your videos, let's say to very specific different formats, get handbrake. mediainfo is a must too, I know you'll get most of the info in properties or your editor/player, but if you use the terminal being able to simple type 'mediainfo ~/Videos/to_hot_internet_gf.mp4' is so fast and useful.

P.P.S. The hot internet gf is a dude who will extort money by threatening to send your self-made pr0n to your friends.

Solutions:

  1. Don't accept friend requests from people you don't know, that way they can't get the list of people who are your friends. And check your privacy settings, only friends should see anything beyond your name.
  2. Pre-empt the situation by sending the video within a few days of sending this message. Nothing says "I don't care" like a screenshot of a message that says "to prevent scammers from threatening me, this is a video of me masturbating. Please don't click unless you want to see that." to your grandma.

Did you just go on a random rant posting this? What does this part of your post have to do with anything the OP posted?

I am so confused...

Microslop glazer

Did you have to download 6 drivers and 8 dependencies before you respond ?

u/According_Mind7030 17d ago

No actually, i didn't have to install anything, because the drivers and dependcies are already baked into the Linux kernel 😂. Microwads don't know about that

I've seen a few of these posts by now.

Is this the Linux experience? You look at a wallpaper? All these posts are the same.

How did you get your taskbar to look like that? I also just started using Linux Mint recently and am still trying to customize the system.

My father is dating a woman who is relatively smart and really just seems addicted to learning new things. I mentioned linux and she's interested. So eager to show her mint.

What's your next distro you would like to try?

I'm gonna swap from linux mint to Debian using KDE plasma and try to customize my desktop further. Honestly trying out everything Linux has to offer is pretty addicting.
