Does reaching out to HR on LinkedIn actually work?
I keep seeing advice on social media about how you should always contact HR or other people at the company you’re applying for. Has anyone actually been successful with that?
What did you say?
I‘m entry-level, so looking for a job now after graduation. I switched careers, so I think my CV is confusing to most people, as my path is not linear (started as a sound technician, then studied Humanities, then Master in IT with some internships in consulting).

I hate to give you the consultant answer, but really it depends. Don’t target random HR people, but if you’re able to identify the person would be your department head, it doesn’t hurt to connect with them and make an introduction after you’ve already applied. 99% of the time they’ll ignore you or won’t be helpful, but you only need to get lucky once. And by staying connected you can keep an eye on future opportunities

Nope. Most major companies won't provide HR contact information. I have an active application that is still in the "being reviewed" stage with Amazon for almost 2 months now. Can't reach out to anyone.
