I have visited Istanbul 2x in the last 7 months and I’m already counting down the days until I can return. I know visiting vs living are two very different things but there is just something about this city that makes me feel more alive and at home than I have felt anywhere else in an extremely long time 🤍

Hello! I’m a 25-year-old Pakistani student starting my Master’s at Işık University (Maslak Campus), and I’m currently exploring options for suitable and budget-friendly shared accommodation in Istanbul.
I don’t mind which neighbourhood I stay in, as long as it’s reasonably accessible to my campus. I’m a very organised and tidy person, and I love cooking. I’m also a hardcore animal and kids lover, so I’d genuinely love to live somewhere with pets or around a family with kids.
My visa is still in process, so I’m not exactly sure when I’ll be flying out, but I thought I’d start looking and connecting with people in advance.
If anyone has a room available, is looking for a roommate, or has any recommendations for affordable and convenient areas/accommodation, I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks!!

Merhaba!

I’ll be visiting Turkey for the first time, and I want to buy an item from Trendyol.
I understand how regular deliveries work, and I've heard that the delivery driver usually calls when they arrive with the package. However, I don't speak Turkish, and I also can't guarantee that I'll be at my accommodation when the package arrives, since I'll be out enjoying my time in Turkey.
I've read that the delivery driver may be able to leave the package at the nearest post office, which would be amazing, but I'm not sure how this works. Would I need to instruct the driver to do that? And how would I know which post office the package would be delivered to? I'm not even sure whether this option actually exists.
Another option I've read about, which would also be ideal, is having the package delivered to a locker. Again, I'm not sure what type of lockers are available, where they are located, or how I can choose one as the delivery address when placing my order.
Sorry for making this unnecessarily long, I just wanted to explain my situation clearly.
Any information or advice about what I can do would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone!
I am so excited to come back to your country after 15 years ! I will focus on visiting Istanbul, it might have changed since I came !
So since will be soon in Istanbul, I am looking to buy a brown fringed suede jacket with a belt, exactly like the one in the picture (it's the Cassidy jacket from Nour Hammour)
Can any locals or expats help me find a reliable, high-end leather workshop or boutique that can duplicate this design with great attention to detail (clean fringe cuts, quality suede, good hardware)?
I don't mind the location I just want a premium result. Any specific shop names, estimated prices, or tips on how long it usually takes would be highly appreciated!
Thank you so much!

Watch my video about film photography in Istanbul, I used my Leica M3 with a trio of lenses that I think are the best travel lenses for the M system. I also developed my film in the hotel and I made Caffenol when I was out of developer.

I’ve started looking closely at Google Maps reviews for dental clinics in Istanbul, and I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing.
Take Vitrin Clinic, for example: thousands of Google reviews and a rating around 4.9/5.
But when I looked at the profiles behind some of the 5-star reviews, I found something interesting: several reviewers have only 1–3 reviews in total, and some give 5 stars to almost every business they review.
Then I noticed another potential pattern: apparently unrelated reviewers sometimes seem to have reviewed the same other businesses, with the same ratings.
That got me curious.
So I’m now comparing Vitrin with several other Istanbul dental clinics to see whether this is:
A) completely normal behaviour on Google Maps,
B) something common among Turkish dental clinics, or
C) a pattern that is unusually concentrated around particular clinics.
I’m not claiming these reviews are fake. I’m trying to test the hypothesis rather than assume the conclusion.
One thing I’m particularly interested in is the timing: Vitrin appears to have a very large concentration of 5-star reviews with written comments in the last few months, while older negative reviews are distributed much further back.
Has anyone actually looked at this systematically?
If you have, or if you’ve had an experience with a dental clinic in Istanbul where the Google reviews didn’t match reality, I’d really like to hear about it.
And if you think I’m seeing patterns where there aren’t any, tell me that too. That’s exactly what I’m trying to find out.
