More and more I begin to understand the Bolsheviks' attitudes towards "monarchy." They scurry away with their billions in stolen blood money, and as if that's not enough they have to crow for the mass annihilation and suffering of the working classes left in the country they exploited to hell and back. Guess the Pahlavi's gulags for socialists weren't enough blood for them, they always need more.

I am Chinese. I am old enough to remember a time when older people would speak of how much they hated the landlord class. It is only with the passage of time these things are forgotten (largely because older people who experienced it first hand have died). China has rebuilt itself, so today, there aren't strong feelings about landlords, or members of Chiang Kai-Shek regime. But recall that both China and Vietnam had revolutions. In the age of Reddit, people form China/Vietnam start to read what the diaspora are saying. Occasionally, we are treated to gems like how one Chinese woman said she hated the CPC because her family once owned an "egg monopoly" in "all of China" (note: this is almost certainly an exaggeration), and then "when the Communists came, they took everything." (little does she realise she makes the Communists look awesome.) People from Vietnam, Cuba, even Poland occasionally read these comments, and if they ever lose their revolutionary spirit, the diaspora makes it clear why their class was so hated by the masses in their home countries.
The real-world consequence is that these diaspora go to the West and continue taking the fight to the old homeland, even long after people back home have rebuilt and stopped thinking about them. The bad diaspora give their new host countries distorted (and frankly, evil) views of their home countries. This is the case with Iranian monarchists, former members and families of the Batista regime in Cuba, and occasionally former members and families of the ROC and South Vietnam regimes.

And the reason why Japan eventually plateued is because of tha Plaza accord that the US forced them to sign
And youre spot on. East asian countries heavily relied on centralized economic planning. Pahlavists and reformists think their is a magical development button by dentralizing and privatizing everything and selling it off to foreign entities
