The next day: "Here's a picture of a UFO I saw last night"

u/ForsakenApartment104 4h ago

Came to say this

u/FlatSix993 3h ago

Mind blown! ☮️

u/PopOutG 55m ago

Literally happened last week in nyc. Bunch of parachuters with sparklers were gliding over Manhattan(ish) area and everyone said aliens lmao

u/likeheyscoob 6h ago

I'll take a Fuck That for 500, Alex

u/ignatious__reilly 5h ago edited 5h ago

Yeah, some people really get off on that kind of rush. They chase it. Wingsuit jumping is already insanely dangerous, but doing it at night, in snowy conditions, and what looked like damn near proximity flying is just fucking crazy lol.

I always check out this website every few months. You can really deep dive into every crash and the lives taken. It’s absolutely haunting.

It seems like the leading cause of death among individuals on this list is "Earth impact". If someone could just solve for that, we could save so many lives.

u/PerennialPhilosopher 4h ago

Douglas Adams already solved that one: aim for the ground and miss.

u/Surreptitious_Spy 1h ago

He also demolished planet Earth so the risk of collision is much lower now.

u/HalfSoul30 2h ago

Archemedes solved it even earlier "give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it and i shall move the world"

u/Infinite_Ad7107 5h ago

Damn I just read the list and realized most of these poor buggers are my age and have not the dust... literally... makes me rethink my life choices.

u/hellsongs 2h ago

Did you read the tandem accident in Moab? Brutal and sad.

u/awp_india 1h ago

I see there's "Earth" and "Span", what's Span?

u/Antique_Cut1354 3h ago

some people just want to meet their creator sooner

u/elfescosteven 5h ago

I’ll take highest chances of death for 2000 Alex.

u/co-wurker 3h ago

Wing suit alone is in solid "fuck that" territory.

Having fire next to the wingsuit makes it more like the daily double of "fuck that."

u/MediocreAndLukewarm 6h ago

Seems really reckless and I have hundreds of jumps.

u/OKStamped 6h ago

Yeah I’m sure that’s not bad luck at all to pair a flying video with a Lynyrd Skynyrd song.

u/spittlbm 4h ago

Lightning never strikes twice or some bullshit like that.

u/Kooky_Attention_98 6h ago

I was expecting, at any moment, for him to hit something and just get splattered

u/MeesterMeeseeks 5h ago

Thought the sparks were gunna burn his suit and he was gunna disappear

u/Scewt 6h ago

interestingasfuck
looks inside
human turns to red mist

u/Kooky_Attention_98 6h ago

Meat chunks in the snow

Sounds like a horror novel

u/Forklift_Donuts 5h ago

Sounds mor like cocaine bears lunch

u/taz3781 6h ago

I thought he'd catch on fire.

u/dragn99 5h ago

You just have to Thread The Needle , nothing to it.

u/pseudoportmanteau 6h ago edited 5h ago

Base jumping has something like a 99% chance of death with every 1000 hours spent doing it. Statistically speaking. So you're not too far off in your expectations.

Edit: corrected skydiving to base jumping. That was what i meant.

u/starmartyr 5h ago

Skydiving has a very low fatality rate with proper safety checks and good conditions. This isn't skydiving. It's basejumping which is extremely dangerous under the best conditions.

u/Kooky_Attention_98 5h ago

It is 100% at nighttime with very minimum light and presumably an indefinite landing area? (Assuming the landing area isn't getting misted by a tree or cliffside)

u/pseudoportmanteau 5h ago

Yeah, he was probably more likely to die than not lol so in that sense, it's a cool video.

u/copperwatt 5h ago

That isn't even close to correct...

Its 0.46 deaths per 100,000 jumps

https://www.uspa.org/discover/faqs/safety

u/Dorkicus 5h ago

Two things I don't want near sparks and flame:

1) My wingsuit

2) My parachute

u/0080Kampfer 6h ago

Nope.

u/Rao_616 6h ago

u/AdvocatusAvem 6h ago

Daylight isn’t for 3 hours I ain’t got time for all that.

u/Slight_Lobster_3538 6h ago

Btw, you don't HAVE to do this.

u/StarlightLifter 6h ago

I was thinking like surely he will snap on a helmet with NVGs

u/mysteryfist 6h ago

Damn that'd be sick. Some dualies would do well for this

u/FranzFerdinand51 2h ago

Did anyone actually think they HAVE TO base jump or are you just talking shite?

Obviously its a choice adults are free to make, nothing else.

u/PeridotChampion 6h ago

That is incredibly dangerous

u/jugdeesh 5h ago

Nuh uh!

u/wehdut 6h ago

Uh... praise the cameraman? Didn't seem like a drone.

u/vartheo 5h ago

Lol this will end up in the ufo/aliens sub by some campers below

u/Shunya_Shunya 6h ago

u/WhenD4594 6h ago

Does anyone else remember that screensaver from back in the windows 3.1 days?

u/KennyWeeWoo 5h ago

I member the tubes and the bouncing arrow. The shear joy when it perfectly hit the corner

u/WhenD4594 5h ago

This one! The nostalgia. It’s too much.

https://youtu.be/tCpnDTzRAjE?is=DCd3t8XXZS0JQZ8S

u/Butterflyhornet 31m ago

Yes. We also had a Screensaver program called After Dark.

u/nope_a_dope237 6h ago

you don't retire from this lifestyle

u/Far-Introduction-106 6h ago

I found that really awesome

u/fishflower 6h ago

Some people want to die early.

u/PositiveLoud8713 6h ago

Some people are alive yet dead.

u/achinfosomebacon 5h ago

Honestly this is so cool. Must feel amazing, incredibly stupid and dangerous, but amazingly fun. Death wouldn’t even be the worst of it though, having to live with whatever debilitating injury you got from it if something goes wrong would.

u/Total_Way_6134 5h ago

The good news is, if anything goes wrong you die so… no life long debilitating injuries or recovery required

u/achinfosomebacon 5h ago

Oh then that’s a relief

u/Competitive-Bit-7575 2h ago

All fun and games until you get intercepted by anti aircraft

u/dwarfinthefla5k 6h ago

Now that is bad ass. Great song choice for it too.

u/PeridotChampion 6h ago

I already knew it was Free Bird before I unmuted it so it's just really a typical song choice at this point

u/pnwal-junction 5h ago

Good thing it wasn't Sail.

u/DevBro22 6h ago

He's a shooting star

u/TmanGvl 6h ago

When in the ever living hell does one say “this is worth dying for”? I’m guessing this dude can do bat wings in his sleep.

u/Chappietime 5h ago

This feels like grease spot speed running.

u/MrWaffleMonster 5h ago

A completely optional activity

u/Immediate_Ad5922 5h ago

Somewhere someone is posting about seeing a ufo and its this dude free birding it down a mountain

u/Whole_Kale_4349 5h ago

Is this just an alternative version of suicide?

u/ElectronicMatch363 5h ago

It’s wild that someone is actually doing this, while many of us just chill in the couch. That always fascinates me

u/DigitalThrift 5h ago

Exactly why women live longer than men.

u/gottapeenow2 5h ago

Absolutely outstanding way to die.

u/Unusual-Wing-1627 5h ago

That's just suicide with extra steps.

u/hangmansboots 2h ago

Flame on!

u/Barry41561 6h ago

To infinity, and BEYOND!

u/Mindless-Platypus-75 6h ago

No goggles just seeing glasses

u/Eskimodo_Dragon 6h ago

What was with that part near the end where he appeared to spin around and almost "stand up?" -that was wild. Maybe when I'm 80 I'll try.

u/Conscious_Avocado225 6h ago

Could be the intro to the next James Bond film.

u/Euphoric-Worker9130 5h ago

Completely optional btw

u/retrotooner 5h ago

Living is pretty overrated.

u/Deposto 5h ago

Cool, dangerous and extremely dumb at the same time.

u/seansy5000 5h ago

Fucking insanity

u/TheCarrot_v2 5h ago

Just imagine being in that situation and the flare accidentally catches the wingsuit on fire. You watch in horror as the suit gets smaller with each passing second.

u/AK_grown_XX 5h ago

Just when I thought BASE jumping couldn't get any riskier, they go and pull a stunt like this 🤯

u/FriendRaven1 5h ago

This song is used everywhere. It's Freebird by MOONLGHT

u/thisFishSmellsAboutD 5h ago

No helmet? Tss tss.

u/Luftburen 5h ago

Man that is fucking awesome

u/justaperson424 5h ago

Is he still alive?

u/mackaroni9400 5h ago

To Infinity & BEYOND!

u/hammertime2009 5h ago

So base jumping wing suiting is already dangerous as shit in regular conditions so let’s light ourselves on fire and do it at night and during a snowstorm. I mean WTF? Who’s gonna be the first person to fly a wing suit into a tornado?

u/Aggressive-Compote64 3h ago

Reed Timmer, I’m sure of it

u/SeaworthinessOwn7765 3h ago

Wait for it. Or at least a hurricane

u/xMunificentx 5h ago

I just saw Haley’s comet ☄️ 💫!

u/LegitimateOrdinary51 3h ago

I'm too high for this...

u/Internal_Influence26 3h ago

Humans are capable of some really amazing things. Doesn't mean we should do the insane ones though.

u/Dull_Abroad_1355 3h ago

wtf, no lights just a flare?

u/Delicious_Tomato_957 2h ago

im so happy im alive to see this.

u/POLACKdyn 2h ago

Flame on, you magnificent bastard!

u/SimilarTop352 2h ago

I'll stick with my non-flammable bicycle, kthx

u/Fun_Main_2588 2h ago

If he had long hair he could pass for Jesus

u/StillDRB 2h ago

That's definitely a different way to die.

u/Affectionate_Smile 2h ago

Iron man 2 opening scene vibes

u/FiftyShadesOfTheGrey 2h ago

This is the coolest sport in the world if you ignore the extreme lethality

u/StaticSeal 2h ago

u/exored1880 2h ago

u/awp_india 1h ago

That's gotta be quite the experience

u/Poneke365 1h ago

u/Impossible-Bat-6713 6h ago

Yes but if they get hooked on to the adrenaline rush it ends badly like always- Keep testing limits eventually until something breaks.

u/nikulmmadhu 5h ago

yes but they are alive and present. you cant spend your whole life worrying about what might go wrong

u/waitinglikeastone 6h ago

That was amazing. Seriously. Probably the best thing I've seen this past quarter.

https://giphy.com/gifs/rVVFWyTINqG7C

u/14X8000m 5h ago

That's fucking rad, dude's living his best life. I don't personally prescribe to the tip toe safely to death strategy.

u/Away_Sun_3040 6h ago

The adrenaline rush must be awesome!

u/DarkDevil_XOS 5h ago

Womala!!

u/FishTshirt 5h ago

These people push boundaries. We should celebrate them more.
