An unleashed front yard dog ran into the street and bit my husband as he was biking by. The owner looked dumbfounded—guess it was the first time. Seriously, fuck yo’ dog, unless it’s restrained in some fashion nobody can account for a break in character.
My golden retriever did this to a neighbor when I was a kid. He got out the front door though. Was a complete accident and totally unexpected. We brought him in to get him cleaned up and it was a clean puncture. Dogs can be unpredictable especially when they feel they are protecting their space
It seriously sucks when the dog escapes, and I consider that completely different intent than having a dog chilling in the front yard prior to an incident.
Unrelated but I wanna rant: escaped animals are hell. Had a cat get past me and bolt. Stayed up to 3 am to here yelling her name. Gave up.. and 15 minutes later she scratching my door.
I would not wish escaped animals on anyone. And they are quick when that door opens. Cats and dogs turn into Olympic hurdles runners at the sound.
My Boston Terrier was never aggressive before, but we always keep her in her fence or on a leash. One day, the perfect storm happened, and my kid was petting another dog, and my dog somehow saw it, ran past me out the door, and tried to jump on the other animal. It was absolutely insane. Thankfully nothing happened but I am just saying, that was so stressful I legit had to go upstairs and deep breathe for about twenty minutes. I can’t imagine freaking tempting fate and just not having my dog in the house, behind the fence, or on a leash. Even now, two years later, I feel anxious just thinking about it.
