My border collie was the smartest little idiot you ever met. You knew she knew every command you could give her but she’d just play dumb whenever she didn’t wanna do something, giving me that cock-eyed head tilt with her little broken ear up like I would ever believed she didn’t understand me.
Then she’d just randomly forget how big she was and smack her head on a door frame turning around. She was the best ❤️
My cane corso ran too fast after a toy and did a somersault into the wall yesterday trying to stop. He’s 120lbs so he scared himself at the loud boom, thinking it was fireworks and hid under my desk.
A working breed that ends up with too many families that cannot provide the healthy environment needed for such a high energy animal. Have not met many well adjusted border collies unforunately, and I absolutely love dogs.
I have a 1/4 Australian shepherd 3/4 border collie and she’s the reason I might never have another dog again. She’s perfect. Dumb as a box of rocks sometimes, but the most loving and obedient pup I’ve ever known.
If you do have the understanding, time, land, and follow through, etc. border collies are the best. My (parents) dog is basically a furry hyper athletic 6 year old that likes to lick you. She gets walked a lot and they live in a place where she can roam around and explore super easily
Years ago I had a neighbor who had three border collies. If he went out on the field and picked up a ball or a frisbee, they would each take their positions: infield, midfield, outfield. On a long throw they would relay the ball back to him, each running one third of the distance. I guess maybe any set of dogs might figure that out, but these critters seemed especially strategic.
