I hate games that come with DLCs that make the game super-easy to new players and ruin the intended experience from the start.

I recently started re-playing Dead Space 2 and when i hit the very first shop in the game, place where you get your health items and guns and upgrades, i saw multiple armors on screen that you can buy. Barely 1 hour into the game.

All these armors are free and offer many advantages, extended inventory, reduce damage and other perks. Shop also has free weapons. An example a pulse rifle. You arent supposed to get pulse rifle that early into the game. yet one is free on the store.

If i was a new player and saw this i would have just gotten the best armor and breezed through the game, completely ruining the pace and tension.

Monster Hunter World does something similar too. It gives you special DLC armors and weapons that allow you to just rush to the DLC content without properly engaging with the base game. I didnt play the game but some new players state that difficulty sky-rockets in the DLC/Late game since they are so used to their DLC equipment carrying them so much.

MGR:R's pc version has Gray Fox blade that cuts through enemies like butter. No need to combo them or learn moves. Just equip this blade and you can one shot even the mini-bosses. When i first played it on PC while young i ruined the combat for myself and ate shit in the Jet Stream Sam DLC

Now you might be saying ''Oh but you can simply not use these, that decision is your's.'' im talking about how these DLCs effect the exprience of a average new gamer who doesnt know about the DLCs affect on their experience.

Alot of ppl who play these games dont know that they are playing the game wrong. And it seriously ruins their experience. Imagine you teached a kid to swim and forced him to wear a oxygen tube through the whole training. Sure he knows how to swim now but he doesnt know how to control his breath or manage his stamina.

Man I hate that in resident evil games. You're supposed to not have much resources and equipment, but the DLC gives you extra weapons and treasure maps. I can't throw them away so I have to leave it in a box and pretend it doesn't exist the whole time.

They should defo be turned off in the first run

Cosmetics can stay, they dont effect the gameplay.

I remember this one time i let my friend play RE2 on my PS4 and he just used the infinite MP5 and rocket launcher. He never played a survival horror game in his life so he asked me ''You are scared of this?'' lol

Skyrim Anniversary Edition is genuinely a worse product than Skyrim Special Edition because of this

Also because quests are so lazily done, "it's all in this note", my ass.

>Read note

>Get quest marker

>Go to marker

>Get item

>Quest complete

Comprehension skill issue on the players part, if you dont wanna use the OP items dont use the OP items, it doesn't matter if you know they came from a DLC or not you can use your brain and context clues to sus out that hey, this might be to OP for my enjoyment lets try something else

Sad thing about Monster Hunter World is they're attempting to bandage a problem, the slow pace of the base game. However, it really doesn't help much; the base game is slow because of all the missions with arbitrary waits in them and the slog of cutscenes and running around they force you to endure.

I absolutely love MHWorld and Wilds but it's amazing how much it feels like every design decision is engineered specifically to be annoying and inconvenient to the player

Dead Space 3 as well. that gun was OP as hell.

I've always thought these kind of dlc items were very obviously dlc and ignored them personally. I do really hate the ones that force the upgrades upon you like DMC blue orbs

Morrowind has a dlc that spawns dark brotherhood assassins when you sleep, and if you kill one they have armour you can sell for like 200 gold, as well as it being much better than any armour you can get early game

I played MH Rise first, and I had absolutely no idea what Defender gear was. Of course I missed the one and only pop up vaguely explaining it during the information overload that is Monster Hunter. Spent the entire first half of the game thinking "why on earth is there a whole weapon and armor crafting system when this one piece of gear is better than anything else" and then I almost quit when I saw it could be upgraded... that's when I finally looked it up

So you clearly saw that there was one demonstrably best in slot set that was free to upgrade and didn't think "oh this is the easy mode, if I want more challenge I shouldn't use it" and instead thought "wow the devs must suck at balancing wonder why they put all that effort into the other 98% of the items"

yes. I thought exactly that. I was more focused on figuring out how to play the game than figuring out why one set of armor was better than the others. especially considering it's literally the first armor set in the list, and everything after the first few columns is obscured until you progress further. I assumed it was some kind of tutorial gear while you build up materials for your actual set. and besides, it's not like I played the whole game like this lol, I figured out something was off eventually.
