seriously doorbell camera shopping is a mess. my old ones laggy and misses packages, no local storage

I'm not trying to cheap out but i'm also not paying extra just for a logo. Need something that'll last few years minimum, local storage and no monthly fee. Skip the sponsored top 10 lists, what pick has actually changed ur life? package theft been happening so need good detection and night vision.

I currently have an Arlo Essential Indoor Pan/Tilt camera. My spouse isn't a fan of how loud the motor is in the recordings while the camera moves around because it drowns out the voices. Anyone have recommendations for an indoor camera with a quiet motor? Thanks!

Our circa 2002 safe has quit working. The keypad works but the bolts on the door don't open. (Yes, the door is currently open so I can get the stuff inside.)

Any recommendations on a good safe to buy? I'm looking at around 2 cubic feet of interior space. I can google this - but I'm not super trusting of the results.

I’ve got a 2GIG Edge system and want to add an Alarm.com doorbell plus 2 outdoor cameras. PoE cameras are fine — I’ll run a PoE power injector like Vivint uses on their installs.

A few things I care about:

**•** 24/7 recording without paying for an SVR  
**•** Ability to view cameras on my TV  
**•** Trying to decide between staying with Alarm.com and getting cameras, going Reolink, or just switching to Vivint entirely

Anyone dealt with this tradeoff? Curious what’s actually worked well for people, especially on the 24/7 recording without SVR part.

Want to put cctv at my front lounge/entry gate, one cctv enough to cover whole area ( rectangular area) .

Which type of cctv should I get, and what will it cost, we usually don't live there much, visit 1-2 times a month.

Got one quotation of 6k but with sim card camera bullet camera and 7 days backup. I think it's too much for only one camera.

Please suggest me if anyone knows about this.

Hi, im currently looking at getting 2 cameras for my home. plan is to put 1 on the top right of the garage (overlooking the front yard), and one on the back shed (overlooking backyard + side access). The 2 choices ive found are the KeldCo (Australian company) solar cam pro 3.0 for $329 aud, and the Eufy S3 pro ($1098 for a 2 pack + Homebase 3). The benefit (imo) of the S3 pro is the HomeKit secure video capabilities, the 4k recording (ik HSV is currently limited to 1080p), the built in solar panel, and more established brand name. However, the KeldCo is cheaper (minus a home base ofc), and offers an auto pan feature that pans the camera up to 355 degrees upon detecting someone. The S3 pro has a FOV of 135 degrees, which I imagine is enough? any help would be much appreciated! FyI, deep down id like the S3 Pro hahaha

Is it illegal for someone that lives in south Georgia or anywhere in the United States to have a tag reader set up through their cameras on their private home can someone please help me answer it cuz I can't find a legit answer anywhere on the internet thank you

Our house entrance from the street has a big wooden gate that is left unlocked and leads to an alleyway where the front door and back yard is accessed. We want to keep the gate unlocked because otherwise our packages will all be delivered onto the street.

The front door is half way down the alley. And the back yard is at the very back. The house is very open. Several large windows are along the side alley and the back of the house is floor to ceiling glass door which opens up into the back yard.

We love the back yard and the back of the house. But we hate that literally anybody can just walk through the wooden gate, down the alley, into the backyard and look right into our living room and kitchen. We also don’t want to close off the back of the house with curtains because it’s such a great space of the house. So we are thinking of building a metal gate around where I put the red line in the image.

there is a utility easement at the back of our yard. so we need a way to either let people in remotely, or pass a code to neighbours when we are not home.

Can anybody recommend a gate / gate lock that can be operated remotely? Or alternatively one which can store several codes so if someone needs to use it we can replace that code later? Open to other suggestions of how we can manage this issue?

I have a small cabin in the forest (not super deep in the forest, I’m still close to a major highway) and I am wanting to install a singular camera for the front. It is a guest house with a main house behind it so I don’t need full surveillance around the whole property only my front yard area.

I was looking at the G5 Turret Ultra. Is that a good option? I’m not looking at spending a ton of money, however I want the sense of security for night time.

I was also looking at a Reolink doorbell but heard the night vision isn’t good.

Got a 1 3/8" door. I try to use the kwikset paper to determine where to drill. The problem is the side got a bit off. Now the deadbolt can't fit right. Is there an installation kit?

I'm based in Calgary, I've been with Thinkprotection for about 9 years now, switched from ADT as I got rid of my landline. It seems they are no longer reliable, used to call me to verify if everything is ok once the alarm goes off. Now my alarm has been sounding for almost 3 minutes and no call from dispatch to verify. I called the hotline and no one picked up and already 3 minutes into the call while my alarm siren is still going on.

Can anyone suggest another security company?

hi all, i am in the market for some security cameras due to some unfavourable neighbourhood activity. i am looking for some advice on what security cameras would suit my needs best.

i am looking for:
- 24/7 recording: i’d like to be able to look back at footage from the entire day and night whether there be motion detected or not.

- doesn’t need to be plugged in: there won’t be access to electricity, camera needs to be either rechargeable or solar; something reliable that won’t run out of battery constantly.

- no subscriptions: the cameras i’ve looked at need subscriptions to record 24/7 which can often cost more annually than the camera itself.

- budget friendly: would prefer to only spend maximum of $150 per camera.

- decent motion detection: reliably picks up motion and records for an adequate amount of time (although if it records 24/7 this shouldn’t be as issue lol)

i understand this may be a big ask? i am having trouble finding any that meet the criteria.

Ring camera caught this woman parking on the street walking up, walking away and driving off. Didn’t ring the doorbell or knock. First time I’ve seen this. Is there something she’s trying to exploit?

I’m willing to spend more upfront for a really good system, but I do NOT want anything that requires a monthly subscription just to access the features or footage. If I buy the equipment, I want to own it and be able to use it without continuously paying a monthly fee.

Our new home is almost 7,000 sq ft (including basement with egress windows). We have 4 exterior doors and 23 windows on the main level. My husband is very against ring and wants to have a system put in through ADT but I’ve heard horrible things about ADT. Any suggestions on a quality system with reasonable monthly fees?

My IQ Remote, paired with my IQ Panel 5 has a black screen and a red LED on the bottom. It still makes sound, and responds to touch. Just doesn’t display. The IQ panel shows a ? next to the remote panels name.

Power cycling the unit made it come back to life with a green LED. It went black again a week later. We replaced with a new IQ Remote. Same issue another week later. Power cycling makes it come back on. Why is this happening? Is it a power issue??? WiFi?? Not sure where to start because I don’t have any errors on Alarm.com, other than that it stops communicating when the screen goes black, but somehow it still plays the exit sound beeps when armed and you can hear that it responds to touch?
