Asking Question (Rule 4) Cofounder Design Dispute

My cofounder and I are working on the branding for our new app called Rejoin. It is a social app for aviation professionals.

We are trying to settle a design debate and need some honesty. I’ve attached a mockup showing both concepts and how they would look as app icons.

Option A: Uppercase R, with overlapping flight paths to represent intersection.

Option B: A lowercase r and a paper airplane combined.

Which logo/icon looks better?

Does Option A look too much like an Rx symbol?

Does option B look aviation related?

How do you think each logo could improve?
Thank you for your criticism.

Neither

Guys, this is bad design. Need to go back to the drawing board I’m afraid. Don’t keep anything, discard and restart. Sometimes it takes a few bad ones before you get a good one.

Are you designers though? Because this doesn’t look like the output of a designer. These would have been discarded after a couple of tries by any professional.

Borh are bad.

A looks terribly cheap.
B looks horribly bad.

Horribly bad is brilliant feedback

Respectfully, hire a brand designer. Keep the scope small at the start if you have a low budget but it will help your brand’s perception. You can always rebrand/refresh later down the line

The first one looks like Rx and fish hooks. The second looks vaguely like a K. The paper plane direction I think works better but drop the R. You can have an icon and a wordmark separately.

Hire a graphic designer. Neither of you has good taste

Thinks anyone can design logos.

Before reading your caption: A because it’s CLEARLY about pharmacy stuff and prescriptions. Wtf even IS that B design??

After reading your caption: umm neither, also I have whiplash now

Both are bad, but B is worse. It'll illegible and doesn't look like it's related to aviation at all.

I wouldn't try making these better, i'd just start over tbh. Don't lock yourself in in bad ideas

Option a. IS an RX symbol
I have no idea what option b is supposed to be

I don’t know much about aviation but should flight paths intersect?

These look like the scribblings of someone who belongs in an asylum. You and your co-founder are arguing over which pile of doodoo is better...

Start. Again.

i prefer B a lot more as it is bolder and easier to digest but it doesn’t look aviation related at a glance. neither does A. unless it’s something only an aviation expert would see.

Before all, let me ask if anyone among you and your co-worker a designer?

The SpaceX ripoff is better than the illegible one that looks like someone scratched a sticker off with the rest of the logo.

B look like you forget to close the last 2 ankers.

Definitely NOT A. B needs work. There are many better ways to depict an R/r with an integrated dynamic mark.

One possible option: make a solid upper-case R with no ‘hole’ in the top section. Create that hole using an arrow / mark of some sort, perhaps coming through the edge of the R silhouette.

This would be a better start than what you have, but there's a reason people hire a designer to do their branding. You get what you pay for and I've never seen good designs from founders
