Sorry Ivy can you repeat that? I was distracted

u/ArgentumVortex Aug 29 '25

I play Fire Emblem for the plot

The plot:

u/Lukthar123 Aug 29 '25

Great plot tbh

u/Aanm000 Aug 29 '25

Huge plot

u/Remarkable_Town6413 Aug 29 '25 edited Aug 29 '25

Just one plot? They're two plots.

u/Ryachaz Aug 29 '25

Build some houses and plant some crops on those plots.

u/KManoc Aug 29 '25

My favorite Engage character.

u/GlassSpork Aug 29 '25

Wow… princess ivy sure has some great… personality! Yea!

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

Ik what the joke is referring to but she does she’s such a girl failure I love her so much 😭

u/GlassSpork Aug 29 '25

Despite the obvious joke, it’s surprising how many characters with big personalities actually have a fairly good personality, since the whole joke is meant to be “oh boobs, only boobs, that is all… sometimes ass” and usually the character is nothing more than that. But yea Ivy does have a cute personality, which is contradictory to her regal demeanor because she’s, as you said, a girlfail

u/DarthLeon2 Aug 29 '25

The only time I've really seen the "big boobs = no personality" idea be true is in games where none of the characters really have personality. I certainly haven't seen it in Fire Emblem that I can remember.

u/Odovakar Aug 29 '25 edited Aug 29 '25

I think it has to do with a lot of poorly written fictional works often using sex appeal less as a crutch and more like a substitute for good storytelling. I can understand the kneejerk reaction.

Of course it is possible to do both. Nikke is a gacha gooner game and has events that feature some of the best video game writing I've ever seen. This somehow includes one of the very best Christmas stories ever too. That was a shock and a half.

u/GlassSpork Aug 29 '25

Sonia maybe? All her personality stems from just being evil because she’s a creation from nergal

u/zbeezle Aug 29 '25

Even she has a personality. She's an uptight bitch who thinks she's the best thing since sliced bread. It's not a pleasant personality, but it is a personality. Funny enough, the character in that game with the least personality is probably Limstella, who's also extremely androgynous. I guess Denning and the final chapter boss morphs have less personality than Limstella, but I don't think any of them really count as characters.

u/tuna_noodles Aug 29 '25

Yeah they dont have personalities for a reason, also Sonia has more personality than a lot of characters in the blazing blade, she controls the entire black fangs by seducing the boss, abuses Nino, and manipulates the rest, only heroes squashes her personality and stretches the booba

u/TehAccelerator Aug 29 '25

She doesn't have a good personality but still a personality, considering how much of a b*tch she is and her hater energy towards Nino.

u/magmafanatic Aug 30 '25

Maybe some of the Heroes OCs

u/orig4mi-713 Aug 29 '25 edited Aug 29 '25

which is contradictory to her regal demeanor because she’s, as you said, a girlfail

This is exactly what I love about her. But I've also seen people who are like "Why isn't Ivy a serious character? Why is she so silly in supports?" because they expected a million trauma dumps like in other RPGs and that's pretty sad tbh. Not every game needs this stuff. Her character has a healthy mix of levity and depth to her.

u/GlassSpork Aug 29 '25

Also if they want fire emblem trauma dumping, the other fe games have it, three houses being the most prevalent

u/orig4mi-713 Aug 29 '25

Fire Emblem fans tend to equate "character with sad backstory who talks about nothing else" with depth which is pretty frustrating.

u/GlassSpork Aug 29 '25

Depth is like Raphael who lost both his parents in an accident, and instead of acting sad about an unfortunate event, he used it as drive to reach garreg mach, become a knight, and protect his sister. He didn’t let it tear him and the only time his sad backstory is really mentioned in supports is with ignatz, where Raphael told him “enough, it’s in the past” instead of showing hate towards ignatz because it was his parents fault. But this is a three houses example heh… prob the best one though

u/orig4mi-713 Aug 29 '25

Three Houses HAS good characters. The characters, I'd argue, is the primary reason its so beloved.

But its also really tiring that all the C-Supports are critiques of the system and their awful lives. Engage rides that line much better, with characters that pour their heart out in appropriate moments or with supports that provide levity and humor. Céline/Alfred is a great example of a support that gets very emotional despite being somewhat silly at first. Three Houses has a couple of those (Hilda Seteth is my fav) but its few and far inbetween. Many of them blend together with the same "Crests good/bad/my family sucks" everywhere and while it does make every character complete it doesn't make them memorable or stand out.

u/robotortoise Aug 29 '25

God, she's pretty, and god I'm so fucking gay. I don't have any constructive commentary beyond that, sorry.

u/euridyce Aug 29 '25

Right there with you ✂️😔✊

u/RyukoT72 Aug 29 '25

Beautiful

u/DarkGengar94 Aug 29 '25

I'm sorry what was the context here? My mind was else where...

And eyes...

u/Railroader17 Aug 29 '25

IIRC this is at the end of the fight against Brodia at their castle, though in the manga Ivy allows herself to be captured to allow her retainers and the other soldiers to escape.

u/Impossible-Sweet2151 Aug 29 '25

I assume looking good is part of said duties.

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

Where to read, can I get a link please

u/arkee__ Aug 29 '25

How did Ivy not blow up to Camila levels?

u/DarthLeon2 Aug 29 '25

Camilla was pushed way more in the advertising for the game, and you meet her right away during gameplay as well.

Plus Camilla has her infamous cutscenes.

u/SerMercer777 Aug 29 '25

infamous cutscenes.

*FAMOUS cutscenes.

Fixed that for ya champ

u/DarthLeon2 Aug 29 '25

Oh it's definitely both lmao

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

Because they have very different personalities. Camilla is the older sister that wants to dote on you and is a bit dom. While Ivy is a scaredy cat girl failure that doesn’t fit the same personality niche as Camilla.

Personally though, I prefer Ivy. She feels like the more rounded out character of the two as well.

u/CielMorgana0807 Aug 29 '25

I like both equally.

u/Railroader17 Aug 29 '25

She's stuck behind Engage's horrible early game as she enters the story right at the start of the midgame / very end of the early game. So most are probably put off by Lythos / Firene's cast.

Also doesn't help that Camilla already exists to fill the "big boobied older sister type character" niche, and Engage just didn't catch on with the community.

u/Koreaia Aug 30 '25

Other than what people have already said- gameplay wise, Camilla is a meta defining unit. She's probably the most influential, non-jagen pre-promote in the series. And that's in a game that has Ryoma. While Ivy, much like most of the other Royals, is incredibly mid.

u/Borful Aug 29 '25

It may hurt to say but the clear answer (I'm not saying it's the only reason for this, mind you) is that the game sucked to the point people either didn't even reach that part and only knew characters like Yunaka on a surface level (HAHA HIYA PAPAYA AMIRITEGUYS?!) or they simply didn't like it that much as a whole and thus don't even speak that much about it to begin with.

u/AJXV97 Aug 29 '25

Woof

u/The_Mighty_Matador Aug 29 '25

They definitely don't hold back with the character designs, they said, after finishing the game, it was great experiencing this version of the story so far.

u/Alex_Dayz Aug 29 '25

She sure does have a big set of eyes

u/DoubleFlores24 Aug 29 '25

Damn those titties are nice… what are we talking about again?

u/TehProfessor96 Aug 29 '25

Is this manga any good? I’m curious what an author could bring to Engage.

u/DarthLeon2 Aug 29 '25

I’m curious what an author could bring to Engage.

Volume, apparently.

u/TehProfessor96 Aug 29 '25

Nah Ivy was always built like that /s 😁

u/ozzyman31495 Aug 29 '25

It's pretty good. It's kind of like Engage's version of 3 Hopes. It changes the story from the game A LOT, but in a good way because it allows them to flesh out the characters a lot more.

u/WeeklyIntroduction42 Aug 29 '25

Lots of down bad ppl here

u/Drakemander Aug 29 '25

Diamant, you lucky bastard.

u/dathar Aug 29 '25

I only feel half envious of him

I took Ivy on my playthru. Sorry...

u/Cardiacunit93 Aug 29 '25

I agree. 💯

u/AssCrackBanditHunter Aug 29 '25

You know I think it is going to.be hard for the next fire emblem game to.be bigger and better. Not sure it can get bigger than this

u/DarthLeon2 Aug 29 '25

I've seen enough on deviantart to know that you can always get bigger.

u/deafinitelyadouche Aug 29 '25

Wait, why is this tagged NSFW? Is it just because of the slight cleavage?

u/Cardiacunit93 Aug 29 '25

I posted a similar manga panel about his drawing of Chloe a month ago and the mods deleted that post without any explanation. Trying to be safe than sorry this time and not have it taken down.

u/deafinitelyadouche Aug 29 '25

A'ight, fair enough.

u/Panory Aug 29 '25

NSFW isn't just straight porn. You really want to try and explain this if your boss walks behind you?

u/AssCrackBanditHunter Aug 29 '25

As if we have jobs

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

Sure though being on the phone while at work would probably be the bigger issue.

u/Crafty_Island_9182 Aug 29 '25

The cleavage, the posture that is blatantly there to make Ivy look both sexy and vulnerable... It doesn't have to be straight up porn to be NSFW.

u/SamyNs Aug 29 '25

So they've gone full gooner there too huh?

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

Do boobs upset you?

u/SamyNs Sep 01 '25

Here, yes they do

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '25

u/SamyNs Sep 01 '25

Keep gooning

u/EstablishmentOne3884 Aug 29 '25

Man Ivy's boobs tho 👀.

u/Chanzy7 Aug 29 '25

Man... I regret turning her into a lancer. That outfit sucked compared to this.

u/BebeFanMasterJ Aug 29 '25

She's got nothing on Chloè and Goldmary.

u/Crafty_Island_9182 Aug 29 '25

And here come all the TOTALLY ORIGINAL NEVER SEEN BEFORE jokes...

Age

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

[deleted]

u/orig4mi-713 Aug 29 '25

I agree with you, the datamined ages are nonsense (Saphir is NOT 35, gtfo with that lol)

but it should be noted that Hortensia, Anna and Madeline confirm not to be of age in supports. Whether that means 17 or 10 or whatever is irrelevant, they are children even in the ingame text.
