Its kind of the standard everywhere else except america. soon, obviously different curr3ncy for me in Nz, but $30+ is pretty average for a burger, chips, and drink. Just got a larger zinger box from KFC for 29$ :/ and thats the low end, probably only beat by mcdonalds with an App code.

Is that that weird? Carl's Jr. commercials in the late 90s/early 00s showed condiments squirting out of the burger when biting and those were considered some of the most effective of their time

I only get the ultimate cheeseburger on reward points or in a munchies box. Its a really good burger, I enjoy it a lot! Just not worth $10, thats a joke.

Jack in the Box doesn’t cost anywhere near this, I’m assuming this person spent hours searching locations to find this price. I live in expensive ass Southern California and ultimate cheeseburgers are around $6.50 and the combos are about a quarter more than this person is claiming just the burger cost.

Or airport/ rest stop pricing. When I worked at a rest stop Starbucks in NJ in 2023 a venti normal coffee was almost $8, a tall was $5, if you went to the burger king across from us a whopper with fries and a soda was $17. I'm sure the base whoppers had to be pretty close to $9 or $10

Well that’s not a jack thing, everything up there’s gotta cost an arm and a leg. The area I live in isn’t cheap and this burger’s $6.70. They’re not even close to $10 in expensive areas of LA and San Diego.
Wherever this person is where it’s over $10, everything else is going to be similarly priced

I remember when you could get the big cheeseburger for only $1.29. It was basically half of an ultimate cheeseburger and it was so cheap. I ate them all the time back in the day. Jack in the Box tasted way better back then too.

I’m calling horseshit, I was bored so I looked up the five most expensive cities in California. Then looked up Jack in the Box in all five and the most expensive I saw was $8.25. The other four were $7.50 or less. I just can’t see anywhere being more expensive than Newport Beach or La Jolla, and definitely not by two damn dollars.

If your location has the munch better meal deal, you can get the jr jumbo jack w cheese, small fry and small drink for between 4.50 and 5 bucks. Add on a couple tacos for 1-2 bucks and you got a solid filling meal for 5.50 to 7 bucks.

My go to burger is the double shack burger from shake shack. It costs 10.50 so it’s basically the same price as this. Fast food burgers are basically the same price as fast casual places. If I’m having a burger, im skipping the fast food chains.

We never had (and still don't) have JIB--I'm in South Dakota. But one time I was in Reno, NV and ordered an Ultimate Cheeseburger. It was reminiscent of the first time I had a Whopper. I great up in a relatively poor family - very loving, but we had to work hard to put food on the table. We never had fast food; everything we either raised or grew. Cattle, chickens, hogs, and a garden that produced everything our climate could (including a variety of fruit-bearing trees, rhubarb, etc.). The first time I had Doritos was babysitting our neighbor kids.
Fast forward 25 years--I had an Ultimate Cheeseburger in Tempe, AZ recently and it was awful!! BK had improved the Whopper, but still nothing close to what I remember.
So the real question...are we just becoming desensitized to how food tastes or is the quality going down? I go to good restaurants where I think the food is amazing, yet when it comes to fast food, it just seems to be underwhelming.

Hate to be carrying water for JITB, but calling that “a double cheeseburger” is disingenuous. It’s like a double quarter pounder. It’s also $8.39 at the JITB close to me (and it’s in CA, so their workers are paid a higher wage than in other states).
Their double cheeseburger (regular patties) is $5.99.
None of this is cheap, of course, but what are the odds OP’s price quote is from Uber Eats or another delivery portal? They mark up the food beyond menu price, AND charge you a delivery fee, AND take a cut of the sale from the food prep site.

I fondly remember having JITB as a kid in the 70s when they still had locations on the east coast. I moved to Fresno in 2006, excited that I could have it again and it was so greasy and heavy, I think I went there twice in the two years I lived there and it was like that both times. Absolute belly bomber in the worst way.

JitB used to be my favorite, always the more expensive option for burgers even way before the vid and the big inflation spike, but the ultimate bacon meal, curly fries, Dr Pepper and Jalapeño poppers slapped! I moved where there are no JitB anywhere.
Just got back from a vacation where I picked up that meal and, wtf happened. It’s not good like at all. I even had a good buzz going for the drinking munchies. Never again - sad times.

Definitely terrible... There seems to be some changes ingredients that the patty itself tastes rubbish... Yet it's the cheaper route I guess?
Though their smash burger seems to be better...
I usually get their breakfast jacks and tacos.
Their fries aren't great either.

I got a $30 gift card for a birthday back in like 2003ish and I felt like a king. I was in middle school and that gift card lasted most of the summer.
