We’ve had our hamster for 6 weeks (it feels like so much longer!) We have recently updated her enclosure to a much better one (Bucatstate 3.0) and since we have we never see her!

She doesn’t wake up before 10pm and is back asleep before 7am - I’ve stayed up later to see if she’ll come out but it’s like she knows and waits until we go to bed.

I thought she was just taking some time to settle into her new space, building new burrows and what not, but it’s been over two weeks now. Is she just too comfy in her new house??

Is there any way of getting her to wake up earlier? Before the new house she was awake around 8-8:30pm, 9pm at the latest. We’ve always fed her at the same time (between 7:30pm-8pm) and our routine has stayed the same, noise and lights going on etc.

I was really starting to bond with her and now I miss her!

Somebody please give me some advice!! There’s some smart people on Reddit i know that! I just bought a pet hamster and it escaped in my car and went up at the pedals and i haven’t been able to find him since. (see photo) It’s been 1,5 hour now. First i heard him, now i don’t hear anything anymore. I left my car shut off but i need to drive home soon… My friend who owns a garage came over and took apart all kinds of spaces in my car with no luck. What the fuck do i do?!

Edit: Still no sight of him. I left food and shelter overnight and my roof open. I just got in my car and nothing changed, he’s not here. I have to drive to work now..😓 I guess this is the end .. poor soul

update: I still didn’t find him, i have a little sister with a condition who was crying really hard because she picked the hamster out herself on facetime. I went and bought a new one. (maybe he’ll come out still but i don’t really have much faith in it. Also some people are really not very smart on reddit i was sadly mistaken❤️, thanks for the advice people.
I FOUND HIM!!!!!! IM NOT KIDDING I FUCKING FOUND HIM!! I went to my friends house and like 2 hours later i get into my car and i hear some sounds behind me and i got scared someone was in my car so i drew my flashlight and there he was walking on my backseat 🥺🥺🥺 I am so happy!!!! Now i have 2 hamsters tho… He’s very weak probably because of the lack of food and water but he’s in good care now. WE FK GOT HIM

Not only is the information just shitass from a butt but for all the hamsters that aren’t syrian hamsters it is listed that they do BEST when in pairs. Horrible. There is some research showing that dwarf hams might do ok together but it shouldent even be told too someone as it will give the impression that housing multiple is ok. What age do we consider a dwarf hamster senior, and what steps do you take once they’ve reached that age to make things more comfortable

Two days ago I bought my first hamster, I have always wanted to buy one since I was a kid and now that I have the chance I did it.

I have read loads of texts about the animal itself and how yo take care of him so when I touhgt I was ready I buy Godofredo, hamster Roborovski.

I buy a huge turtle cage lots of hiden spots put 10 cm ground a whell and that things.

However he isnt happy and its trying to escape all the time. So how do I gain his confidence? I think that would help every time I open the gate he hides. What am I supose to do?

I got my first dwarf hamster a month ago (first time hamster owner)

I’ve done a lot of research and have the correct cage, bedding and set up for her and she seems happy.

I left her alone for a few weeks and eventually started giving her bits of food through my fingers and she didn’t ever bite. Now I have been putting a bit of food in my hand with a flat palm in her enclosure and she has been taking the food and walking onto my hand.

When on my hand I don’t attempt to move her out yet and just wait until she decides to walk off. She nibbles (genuinely doesn’t hurt and she 100% isn’t sinking her teeth in) and she also licks my hand a lot!! She appears to lick pretty much everything including the cage.

Is it normal for them to lick everything?

Just wanted to check it isn’t stress and I’m not stressing her out by putting my hand in!

Just updated our recommended hamster food mixes. It is just for commercial mixes in Uk and US. It also includes dwarf specific mixes in both the Uk and Us :-)

The only place I am able to put the dwarf hamster enclosure is on a unit which is 90cm wide 52cm deep (the IKEA Smastad bench to be precise)

I need to get the 100cm enclosure as not enough depth for the 120cm one, but could someone please let me know the measurement between the ‘feet’ of the 100cm enclosure? Is there enough space so that the feet can sit over the edge of the Ikea bench? Or are they chunky/sturdy enough that 5cm of each could rest half off the bench?

If not…does anyone have any recommendations for 90cm enclosures? The 2.0 at 80cm just feels too small compared to the 100cm. I know not ideal but going to do the best I can!
