OFFICIAL DUNCAN TRUSSELL HAS CHANGED MEGATHREAD - MODS PLEASE STICKY

Upvotes

Edit: Duncan’s back on the rise! I CLAIM HIM REDEEMED.

Edit 2: Nah seriously think what you’d do. Especially at a time when financial insecurity is probably at an all time high. Not saying he’s doing anything. If anything the video content is a nice change, although I mostly annoyed when he started moving to YouTube. Also think… did he change, or did you? Or did we both? Is there a you? Who is I? Who is we? No one. We are ever changing processes with a sense of consciousness, call it soul or whatever else, that you can tap into whenever and wherever. Thinking and reading won’t get you there from here, though. 04/29/25

Edit 3: 😒🫩it’s not getting better. 06/23/25

~~Back in early November I complained about the quality of Duncan’s podcast. I honestly thought it would be ignored, but it launched a whole lot of replies and new posts to this sub. Some people complaining about quality of episodes/guests, others noticing the political shift that appears more like a political grift. New fans or people who just haven’t really followed Duncan Trussell’s content in the past few years conveniently chalk it up to being people mad about political disagreement.

Anyway, that’s the super briefly reductionist summarized reason of why there are so many “what happened to Duncan” threads.

I’ve seen some complaining now that the quality of the sub is becoming worse. Should we just megathread and have a discussion here?

It’s better this way. Continuity and all. There’re a whole lot of details that get lost inbetween each new post about Duncan.

Or maybe not. Maybe we should keep flooding with threads like this. But really I think that’d achieve a goal us vets don’t want. Engagement via entropy.~~

I’ve been bought 😎

I rarely listen to DTFH ever since solo episodes became a thing.

Upvotes

I don't know if anyone else is going to agree with this, but I really feel like the solo episodes should be their own spinoff podcast or maybe just stay on YouTube. I get there are some hardcore Duncan fans out here who love every second of content they can get, but I've listened to Duncan for at least five years now and miss the old format. Having frequent guests made this podcast worth listening to, and if you wanted more content you could check out The Leather Rose or Duncan on someone else's podcast.

There are so many good podcasts out there that can genuinely teach you something or offer some fresh perspectives. I like Duncan's humor, but not so much that it's the only thing I want to listen to every few days.

It doesn't really feel like a change for quality control, but rather a change made so Duncan can earn more money. That's all fine and dandy, but it feels like it's coming at the expense of DTFH.

Maybe some of you can relate, maybe not. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

Question for anti-AI people

Upvotes

Would you refuse medical treatment that AI assisted the development of? Like if you had cancer or some terrible illness, and they used AI to help find a cure, would you reject it because AI was involved? Kinda like Christian Science religion?

Every book mentioned on DTFH in August (8 of them)

Upvotes

Four episodes, eight books, and the mix is exactly what you would guess: one Taoist classic, two Crowley titles Duncan has not read, and a death-anxiety recommendation.

I run Podshelf, a free site that tracks book mentions across hundreds of podcasts by reading the episode transcripts. This is the DTFH slice for August.

The one said with real feeling was The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker, off the back of life insurance ads. "I would roll my eyes. Who cares? I'd think. I'm not going to do that. Denial of death. Read the book."

Also a straight recommendation for The Answer to the Riddle Is Me by David MacLean, who Duncan went to college with. "Great book." It took a minute to get the title right on air.

The Crowley bit is funnier in context. Asked whether he had read The Book of Lies or Diary of a Drug Fiend: "No I have not. I'm a dilettante when it comes to Crowley, I'll admit it, but I do like talking about him."

Rest of the month: the Tao Te Ching, in a bit about wanting something solid to hang from when gravity goes away. The Lesser Key of Solomon, invoked because the drug name Mirtazapine sounds like something you would not want to summon. The 48 Laws of Power. And Lord of the Rings, in service of a claim about dwarven technology being far beyond what you have read about.

Anyone have experience with David Nichtern meditation courses?

Upvotes

I am wanting to get back into meditation, something I have done years ago. I really like David Nichtern a approach and am looking into his courses. I am not looking to do his teaching course per say, just want to have some guidance and support, possible within a online community (I love in ver remote part of world with only desert and ocean, and a few hundred people within 200km radius; hence looking for sence of community).

Can anyone speak to his influence on your meditation, or offer any suggestions.

Much appreciated and shine on you amazing people.

U know, I like conspiracies as much as the next guy...

Upvotes

but the last minutes of that Fauci episode was just straight up stupid. I love love love when he talks about UFOs and Bigfoot and whatever, but this one was just sad tbh. It was like listening to my 75yo dad slowly losing his grip on reallity.
Pleading the fifth is never a good look, I get that and also F this dude if he made money out of that! But extrapolating some big covid cover up conspiracy or whatever from that is just dumb.
Duncan if you read this: ask at least have someone like that shithead Destiny or his worst enemy Professor Dave (better Destiny!) or whoever explain the whole thing to you! If you can't, I bet you can easily find someone better, but this shit was like listening to JRE in 2020. SHort before I stoped listening...
I am dumb as rocks and I was also waiting a loooooong time to finally get my fist shot, but even I can interpret the numbers enought to understand that by any metric possible the disease killed faaaaaar more people than the treatment! ...and yes, I also thought that I might came from that lab in wuhan, but even that turned out to be complete bs if you look deeper into it!
I just don't want this to go down in history the way you interpreted like in that epsode. We can't lose that connection to reality too! This is my tribe! I love you and these people!

I didn't felt too bad about loosing JRE back then, but DTFH would definitly rip a deeeeep a hole into my heart tbh. Loveya! Hare krishna!

...still, why're you reading this tho, I have no way to ever prove to you that I'm not a bot from the deep state soo ... Idk

DT has stated he is afraid to bring things up to Rogan in private

Upvotes

yesterday someone here made a big post claiming a few things. Firstly, Duncan still privately holds the view that nefarious actors are trying to take over the podcast space to spread their messaging to the world. secondly, that he doesn’t need to bring it up publicly anymore because he did many times years ago and still privately talks to Rogan about it.

It’s obvious that Rogan cancels people who he doesn’t agree with anymore. Rhonda Patrick, Bill Burr both gone for making him look bad during Covid.

Here is Duncan in his own words:

https://youtu.be/sXYvQkB9MZo?si=lQtrlivZNJ1L6TEk

Go there:

At the 21m30s mark Duncan claims it would be ridiculous for wealthy fascists to want to take over a podcast. Something he specifically warned Rogan about a dozen times.

At 24m15s he specifically says he believes if he tried to run something by Joe in private, Joe would stop talking to him for a month….

Seems like everyone knows if you bother Joe you get cancelled from the togansphere

Do you think Duncan still holds the views he did in this clip, now that it seems to have come to fruition? I would love to hear Duncan’s current take on this clip of him on JRE

I love you so much Duncan. I would really appreciate to hear you speak on what your current views are in this vein. Does Duncan feel like these dark forces have legitimately reached Rogan and used his platform to spread hateful/hurtful messages that are increasing suffering in the world? Or would Duncan just say he was being overly paranoid in this clip?

It would be refreshing to hear Duncan’s true take on this whole current situation, because it seems like he very much avoids delving directly into these topics anymore. I believe Duncan presents it frequently as that he has sort of “grown out” of this stage of getting involved with politics, but unfortunately this is when we need his voice more than ever. I really do wonder what Duncan’s honest thoughts are nowadays, because it always feels like he is holding back now. What do you guys think?
