Question Alright guys, getting close to 1-4!

First time going through Demon’s Souls. Great game and now getting near to the end. I might do a New Game+ once I’m done here but will see. Kind of thinking of moving on to the rest of the games and playing almost every single one. This series is really hard but so far this is the build I went with. I’ll bee grinding a little more before getting to 1-4 just to get more strength in my build, but so far this is what I have. Also for the Moonlight, what would be considered a good build? Could I use my same stats with maybe adding more into a certain stats and maybe doing a build around what I already have?

The moonlight sword only scales with faith, at your current Sl to make it effective would take awhile as you want at least 30+ at 50 faith it does 316 and at 99 355.

A blessed knights sword +5 with your stats does 295 and regens HP.

Ultimately the moonlight sword is only for fashion or PvP since it can't be blocked but it gets outperformed by every other greatsword type in the game as far as dps unless you stat dump faith but even then a blessed claymore +5 with 99 faith is 470

Oh nice! I guess I’ll go this route. I was looking into upgrading my Knight Sword but also wanted to do something with the Claymore. Not too sure if I want to use the Claymore this game as I want to use it one Dark Souls 1, but thinking of using a Blesses Knight Sword. Wish I knew this earlier to get this regen mixed up with the shield and the ring.

The regular knight sword is really good

I’ll be using that one on NG+

Didn’t even know this was a souls game. I saw Moonlight and smiled. Only then I saw you said it was demon souls. 😂

It’s a really great game. Bought it in 2020, played for a bit and then never touched it again. But now that I started playing again, I can say that it is an amazing game.

I have yet to play the 4 souls (you know what I mean). I’ve beat Elden Ring and Bloodborne, plat both too. Next I want to play Sekiro or DS2. Trying to decide.

These games are amazing. I played Bloodborne for a bit but never beat it. I’m trying to leave Elden Ring for last but Sekiro would be my last game to play since it looks like it’s the hardest.

I recommend ds2.

Also playing it for the first time rn. I fucking hate the soul form mechanic. Basically you only have one ring slot and 25% less of your health all the time. But what bothers me most is the visuals of the soul form. As a fashion souls enthusiast it really sucks I can't see my character properly. Otherwise I'm loving it.

I did play DS3 for a bit a while back but stopped and I thought I was going to play Demons Souls when I bought it in 2020 but never played it. I just started playing it this year and so far it’s an amazing game. I really liked the graphics and everything but just like you said with the souls form mechanic is something I didn’t like as much. I like seeing my full health and like to be able to see my character. There’s only 2 slots for the rings so having to almost always use the one to get more health in soul form was a little annoying because I could have used it for something else. World Tendency looks hard too, but I try to keep everything on white.

This build is absolutely useless with the Moonsword. It’s a sword that scales with faith and even if you dump points into faith it sucks in PvE.
Keep in mind that my second character is a mage SL150 with MAG 50 and FAI 50 and the crescent falchion still overpowers it. It’s a fun sword, but not worth the build.
I wouldn’t have dumped 40 points in Endurance, rather left it at 30 and invested the other 10 in STR. but no respec in DeS unfortunately.
And do yourself a favor: if you wanna grind, go to 4-4 with the ring that gets more souls per kill. Those mantas are easy to kill and give a shitload amount of souls.

Thank you for the info. I was thinking into dumping more into STR but I’ll farm before going to 1-4

You’re welcome!

Off topic but how can I make a post asking for tendency help, it says only do it in pinned posts but the last pin post was a year ago

u/TRIKSTER_Betin 1d ago

I don’t really like to mess with the World Tendency but it really easy and simple to do. I would just probably ask or make a post and ask for help there since that one is really old.

I don't know if you did this on purpose or not, but with 18 Intelligence and 16 Faith you've got the perfect stats to use the Talisman of Beasts with the Cursed Weapon spell. And since that spell just increases your weapon's physical damage by a flat 50%, it is OP as hell with the Dragon Bone Smasher.

There is an exploit/oversight with the Talisman of Beasts where, if you don't meet the required 18/18 in Magic/Faith, it causes Cursed Weapon to drain only 1HP per second instead of the intended 1% (which would actually be about 10 HP per second with the Cling Ring at 50 Vitality).

I think you should save any other Colorless Souls you find to try to max the Dragon Bone Smasher out to +5, I wouldn't use them on the Moonlight sword. Moonlight is cool, but your build is already perfect for the Smasher and you already have it at +2, so you might as well just commit to that.

16 Faith is also good because it gives you the two slots to equip the Second Chance miracle.

Oh thank you for helping me out! As far as the Talisman of Beasts, where would I get that one?

Black Phantom Scirvir drops it. He shows up in world 2-2 with Pure Black world tendency, half way down the big mine shaft shortcut that you need to drop down after you follow the right-hand path from the archstone. He's a tough fight so brace yourself lol.

Thank you! I’ll have to die 7 times in order to get there.

I really loved this game if it wasn’t for the world tendency BS. I think I got platinum in a little over 100 hours

I’m a weird one who really likes world tendency. It was amazing with OG when servers were active. Holidays changed tendency: Halloween was PBWT and Christmas was PWWT so it made it easy to knock out events. All other times were an average WT of all active players.

u/Dizzydabz710 2d ago

Probably would have been a lot better if the servers would have been up for sure. And I never knew that about the holidays. That’s pretty cool. The game was absolutely amazing though. Working on ds2 last of the souls besides Sekiro I have started but that will be some time 🤣🤣🤣. Ds1 I just finished and ds3 I did a while ago

u/Boo_Who_ 2d ago

2 is different but absolutely worth it. Great DLCs. If you haven’t already, look up ADP.

I haven’t made it far made it a point I get my adp to at least 25. I just killed the last giant. So I’m still pretty early. But yeah that stat is whack 🤣🤣

u/KingOfFools1984 2d ago

Yup. 107 hours for me.
