I’m a 24-year-old student. On weekends, what are the best spots in Darmstadt to socialize and meet new people? I’m trying to find a new friend group.

Hey guys, im an exchange student from outside of europe about to study in this winter semester at TU Darmstadt. Ive been looking for a place to stay, either a 1 room flat or a shared apartments, but in wg-gesucht, it seems like most of the ads have a requirement that i can speak german (i only have an A2 german certificate), or needed SCHUFA or itsmydata to apply in which i cant have. In my worst case scenario i probably have to rent an airbnb for some time and find an accommodation in person, would that help?

Muss das einfach mal loswerden, aber das ist wirklich die schlechteste Zeitung die ich kenne.
Nicht nur das gefühlt alle Artikel hinter einer Bezahlschranke sind, sogar welche die aus anderen Zeitungen/ Newsseiten kopiert wurden, ansonsten könnte man das ja noch wenigstens etwas nachvollziehen.
Nein, auch wenn in Darmstadt was los ist, ist zB der Bergsträßer Aneziger wesentlich besser und schneller informiert.
Die Zeitung wird einer Stadt wie Darmstadt absolut nicht gerecht, was wirklich alles getippt hat war ein KI-generiertes Foto vom Heinerfest, ich mein come on. Ihr nennt euch Zeitung und schafft es nicht mal ein echtes Foto von da aufzunehmen?

Bald im Oktober fängt mein Studiun an de h_da in Darmstadt an und ich hatte bis jetzt leider völlig pech bei der Wohnungsuche. Deshalb will ich es jetzt auch hier auf reddit versuchen!

Falls es ein paar Tipps oder Orte gibt, die ihr mir empfehlen könnt, würde ich mich sehr freuen!

Ich bin Alin(m20) und beginne bald Sound Music and Production an der Hochschule Darmstadt zu studieren. Deshalb ist eines meiner größten Hobbies das Musikproduzieren! Außerdem gehe ich gerne Schwimmen.

Mich kann man gerne für Brettspiele oder ähnliches haben und würde auch eine Switch und die Siedler von Catan mitbringen ;)

Gibt es für euch Sterotype/Assoziationen, die ihr mit Bewohner*innen bestimmter Viertel verknüpft?

Weiß irgendjemand etwas darüber? Wir kamen eben dort an und alle Türen waren zu und die Polizei lief darin und darum umher.

It's my first week here, looking for anything in a budget

I want to do something completely crazy for my birthday this year.

I’m thinking of taking a trip from Darmstadt to Lake Eibsee from 8th–10th October, and I want to do it with someone I’ve never met before. Gender doesn’t matter I’m looking for a 100% platonic adventure, nothing romantic or sexual.

The idea is pretty simple: leave Darmstadt on the 8th, spend a couple of days around Eibsee/Zugspitze, have some fun, explore, eat good food, and come back on the morning of the 10th.

I’m also totally open to making it a small group of 2–4 complete strangers. Honestly, that might make it even more fun. 😂

I want to plan everything beforehand so the trip is as hassle-free as possible. We can chat beforehand, figure out transport/accommodation/costs, maybe have a group call, and then actually meet for the trip.
The whole point is basically: meet strangers → become temporary travel buddies → make a ridiculous birthday memory.

In der Ludwigpassage steht ja schon seit längerer Zeit das Restaurant „Chicken Kikiriki“ leer (aber dem Auge nach komplett eingerichtet), welches schon seit über einem Jahr auf dessen Social Media Seiten angekündigt wurde.
Weiß jemand ob es irgendwann nochmal zu einer Eröffnung kommen wird?

Wie findet ihr den neuen Radweg in der Bismarckstraße? Hab das Gefühl, hier wurde versucht Gutes zu tun, und dabei aber alles schlimmer gemacht. Der Radweg liegt jetzt ca 30cm weiter in der Straßenmitte, wodurch Autos nur noch ultra knapp neben ein Fahrrad passen. Eigentlich gar kein Thema, denn hier herrscht ja jetzt Überholverbot für Autos von Fahrrädern. Nur hält sich da leider kaum jemand dran und überholt zur Not auch mit paar cm Abstand...

Hab das ganze schon bei der https://www.meldeplattform-radverkehr.de/ gemeldet und die wollen irgendwann mal kontrollieren, aber nichts mehr am Radweg ändern.

Recently i've noticed an uptick of weird old men appearances around the main station.

Last Sunday there was a (pretty well dressed) proselytizing near the main entrance. He approached people, but became weirdly angry when i turned down his poster. I didnt catch what he said, but the German guy next to me is also seems puzzled by his aggressive behavior.

Today morning, there is yet another weird old man who totally unprompted decided to call me a Chinese (which im not), and made funny noises (all while moving away from me). He then proceeded to shout something to a pair of mother-daughter, who is also waiting for the train. I attempted to block his path when he was trying to board, but the old ass avoided me. Slimy.

Anyways sorry for the weird post, but i just want to dump it out here. Maybe I should learn a few swear words to throw out when necessary.

wollte hier mal bisschen Promo machen fürs Sound am See Festival am Samstag. Das ist ein kostenloses Festival am Brentanosee in Kranichstein, unabhängig und von jungen Menschen organisiert und es wird ein Fest.

Das musikalische Spektrum geht über Vocal Art zu Pop über Rock bis hin zu Techno. Junge, größtenteils Darmstädter und regionale Newcomer. Es lohnt sich früh zu kommen und lange zu bleiben, denn es wird explosiv, von Anfang bis Ende.

Kontrollzentrum in Darmstadt

Acht Jahre war die Sonde BepiColombo zum Merkur unterwegs, jetzt hat der finale Abschnitt der Reise begonnen. Ein Transportmodul mit Forschungssonden an Bord wurde erfolgreich abgetrennt.

Um 14:19 Uhr bricht im Mission-Control-Center der ESA in Darmstadt Jubel aus, Fäuste werden gen Himmel gereckt, Hände klatschen sich ab: Das Transportmodul Mercury Transfer Modul (MTM) hat die erfolgreiche Abtrennung von der BepiColombo-Sonde an die Erde gefunkt. Ein Meilenstein für die europäische Merkur-Mission.

Hi weiß jemand wo man Reparierte Geräte prüfen kann damit man sie weiter verkaufen darf. Vieleicht hat ja schon jemand erfahrung.

I’m an incoming international student from India, joining TU Darmstadt for the M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) program in Winter Semester 2026/27. I’ll be arriving in Darmstadt around 1 October 2026 and am currently looking for accommodation.

I’m looking for:

I’m open to long-term accommodation, Zwischenmiete/sublets, temporary rooms, or taking over someone's room if they’re moving out, going on exchange, internship, etc.

I’ve already applied to student residences and have been looking through platforms like WG-Gesucht and various student housing groups, but finding something within my budget has been quite difficult.
