1st playthrough with 93 humanity? hmmmmmm

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

Hey I watched a video on YouTube and got curious lol, seasoned dark souls 3 and Eldin ring player though 😆

u/Callsign_Buck Apr 20 '26

thats fair I was just making a funny jab

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

🤟🤟🤟

u/randy__randerson Apr 20 '26

This child wasn't born recently either

u/Malachi217 Apr 20 '26

Ah, yes. The Dark Souls player who's also an expert on newborn age estimations, based solely on a picture of 1/5 of their head. Plenty of babies are born with a full head of hair.

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

lol like why would I lie about this?

u/Malachi217 Apr 20 '26

Exactly. I bought my Switch the week before my daughter was born for this exact reason.

u/Falcon_Kratos_786 Apr 21 '26

This is DarkSouls sub, not population resurgence sub, keep your "my daughter", "my son" phrases to yourself.

We are not interested in knowing about your family.

u/StaticOwl9825 Apr 21 '26

holy chud ✌️

u/Falcon_Kratos_786 Apr 21 '26

r/Natalism is your place, leave this sub asap.

u/StaticOwl9825 Apr 21 '26

ts is not tough bruh, hes just saying about his kid. holy edgelord

u/Falcon_Kratos_786 Apr 21 '26

Yeah, then glaze about your son, daughter, mom, bf, gf, dad, grandma, grandpa, uncle, step sister, step mom, step dad, older sister, younger sister, older bro, younger bro, aunt, step aunt, favorite aunt, step uncle best friends, friends with benefits, somewhere else....

This is DarkSouls sub, can't you read the sub title and description

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Thank you so much!!!

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Hey I watched a video on YouTube and got curious lol, season dark souls 3 and Eldin ring player though 😆

u/depressedJavaDev Apr 20 '26

you commented the same exact thing somewhere else and got 62 upvotes, but 23 downvotes here? lol

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

I dunno 🤷‍♂️ 😆

u/ImVibinFr Apr 20 '26

when i get downvoted i always remember what the average redditors life is like and what they probably look like and act like then i remember why i shouldn’t care about it i almost take it as a complement that losers don’t agree with me

u/tylerlees777 Apr 20 '26

I watched the same video for sure lol. The best start possible video or something

u/Commercial-Ad-8409 Apr 20 '26

Damn, the Reddit hivemind did not like this one

u/Artificial-Human Apr 19 '26

Name the child Gwyn, Lord of Cinder.

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Haha just need to convince the wife!

u/brian_gruen5 Apr 19 '26

I was thinking Chosen Undead II

u/Arihel Apr 19 '26

Nah. The only right option would be Solaire of Astora.

u/brian_gruen5 Apr 19 '26

“If only I could be so grossly incandescent”

u/VP_of_Lasers Apr 19 '26

Dude enjoy the early time with as many naps as possible. You’ll need them later.

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Thank you! We are exhausted but enjoying the downtime when we can!

u/MidRanchWest Apr 19 '26

Awesome man and congrats. I'm playing on the Switch2 as well. I'm probably 60 65% done

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Thank you so much! I’m hoping to grab one maybe next year if it ever goes on sale!

u/MidRanchWest Apr 20 '26

I was able to get mine off ebay with the pro controller for $480ish I believe.

u/YouCallWeShouldWhat Apr 19 '26

maybe you should use that money to buy toys for the kid. you already have one mobile game machine.

u/Gwynthehunter Apr 19 '26

The Switch 2 could also become a toy for the childthing, with time

u/YouCallWeShouldWhat Apr 19 '26

i mean, dad was playing dark souls to distract himself from having to care for it. i'm thinking dad will have "his games" that the kid is not allowed to touch, i had more than one friend growing up whose fathers were extremely distant and would lose their minds if you touched their ps2/xbox game collection.

u/digitahlemotion Apr 19 '26

I mean, if you want to take an image of a dude with a sleeping baby on his chest playing a video game and stretch that into "dad ignoring new born bad"... I guess that's one way to go.

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Yeah what the fuck is that ass hat on about? He needs to go touch grass

u/coolguyRae Apr 20 '26

Yeah, he really fits into "tell me you're not a dad without telling you're not a dad." Like the dude clearly doesn't understand what taking care of a newborn is like...

u/beauner69420 Apr 19 '26

Tell me you don't have any kids without telling me you don't have any kids 😂

Dude is taking his kid for a nap, which is what responsible parents do with their newborns. What's he meant to do, sit there and stare at the ceiling for 3 hours while he can't move with a baby on him?

He might even be using the game as a way to stay awake. For safety reasons, you absolutely cannot fall asleep while you have a baby on you. Sometimes you need something to keep yourself awake and your mind occupied.

u/illusorywall Apr 20 '26

i had more than one friend growing up whose fathers were extremely distant and would lose their minds if you touched their ps2/xbox game collection.

Oh, there it is. You are weirdly hurt by the actions of others that don't inherently relate to someone else and can't separate the two.

It's like, actually your philosophy that a parent should never own anything that a kid can't play with? Or you'd assume that a parent simply owning some video games means they're going to be distant and bad parents? That is... wild. Go talk to a therapist.

u/YouCallWeShouldWhat Apr 20 '26

ah! found one lol. hit a little close to home huh? go check your games, your kid might've touched them! oh no! lmfao

u/Emotional-Lie595 Apr 19 '26

Calm down bro.

u/YouCallWeShouldWhat Apr 19 '26

you should thank god your every moment wasn't shared on reddit growing up lmfao "fucking became a DAD BRO check it out i got 93 humanity" to literal strangers.

u/digitahlemotion Apr 19 '26

You good man? Kinda seems like you have something you really need to address.

u/HirsuteHacker Apr 20 '26

See a therapist

u/illusorywall Apr 20 '26

You are legitimately stupid. Like, an actual idiot.

How can you tell from this one picture that the dad is only buying things for himself and not the kid? How does this chain of thought go from brain to keyboard without realizing "wait, this is a total non sequitur that literally doesn't make any sense at all and is a very weird assumption to make, actually."

u/branlix__2000 Apr 19 '26

Congrats, this will now forever be your « early paternity era » game ! Enjoy.

Also, don’t forget to enjoy those moments, they’re limited, video games are forever.

u/moviebuffnerd Apr 19 '26

Mine was Death Stranding. Nothing like wandering across the empty wilderness at 2am.

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Nothing wrong with delivering packages!!

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Thank you totally agree!! She was sleeping so the timing was just right lol

u/Vultronfarts Apr 19 '26

So gonna want them to learn how to walk and talk, numbers are also important. Oh and black knight great sword as early as possible.

u/brian_gruen5 Apr 19 '26

Let’s also not forget the dying art of phonics!

Oh yes, and getting parrying timing down to a science 😂

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Exactly this, you get it!

u/YesThatTeach Apr 19 '26

Parenthood. And you thought Fromsoft games were tough.

YOU DAD

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Lmao love this

u/Cellwinn Apr 20 '26

Why are you not wearing the Mask of the Father? I demand you correct this ASAP!

u/Raduziel Apr 20 '26

Please go for a GiantDad build for meme's sake.

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

This is awesome I definitely will check this out!

u/IbzWOLF77 Apr 20 '26

I beat the final boss with my 2nd child in this position

Congratulations new dad

u/Yab0iFiddlesticks Apr 20 '26

Decent baby. Has a rough early game but scales well later.

u/adoransnoctis Apr 19 '26

Congrats!

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Thank you!!!

u/Caffinatorpotato Apr 19 '26

Congratulations! I miss that feeling, was more Vita with Sant&Sanctuary, but those were sweet times.

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Thank you!!

u/ShiftySauce Apr 19 '26

I played Dark Souls 2 for the first time with my fist newborn sleeping on a boppy pillow on my lap. Kid turns 12 this coming Saturday.

It keeps getting better and better.

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26 edited Apr 20 '26

Heck yeah I haven’t gotten ds2 yet but I’m going to soon, maybe when it goes on sale or something! Boppy’s are great we have 2

u/AramaticFire Apr 20 '26

Became a dad recently too and Switch is the only way I can play games right now with the kid. The joycons are literally perfect for holding a baby and playing while he sleeps lol

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

It’s been this and balatro it’s been amazing! And congrats to you!!

u/yian_kut_ku Apr 20 '26

Congrats!

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

Thank you so much we are so excited she’s here!!

u/themonitors Apr 20 '26

Also how I beat DS1 for the first time. Boss fights were double jeopardy.

u/MilkAndWookies Apr 20 '26

Congrats !!! Don’t you dare go hollow.

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

Thank you don’t worry I have a little one to look after now I won’t dare go hollow!

u/SirBromeo Apr 20 '26

Holding a baby and playing in Blighttown is a massive testament to your patience and reflects positively on your future as a father. Congrats!

u/donachurros Apr 19 '26

Congrats!! I remember playing WoW with my son on my lap when he was first born, now he’s a year and a half. Enjoy it, goes fast

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Haha that’s so cute, gotta teach them young!

u/TheManOfOurTimes Apr 19 '26

Hey. Same. I thought I'd beat it before my son was born. I beat ornstein and smogh with him napping on my chest. Had to keep quiet when I did.

u/Sw4gl0rdM4st3rm1nd Apr 19 '26

Thats the spirit

u/Few_Replacement_5864 Apr 19 '26

Congrats on the newborn! I'll never forget having my newborn son sleep on me while I did some handheld gaming. Playing handheld is amazing with a newborn.

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Thank you!! Cherishing every second with her! She just helped me beat Quelaag!

u/whatyouwere Apr 19 '26

Enjoy it, dad! I have very fond memories of staying up late so both of my kids could sleep on my chest. I crushed many TV series and documentaries that way. It goes by sooooooo fast though.

u/pooticus Apr 19 '26

Haha sounds amazing thank you so much!

This and balatro it’s so perfect.

u/Flyng_Penguin Apr 20 '26

You should think of a NG+ some of us go hollow when we’re alone. Also, it’s always funnier in co op

u/constar90 Apr 20 '26

Similar experiences tbh

u/HexedMonarchTTV Apr 20 '26

This is how to truly be good at souls games. If you can remain calm enough to play while putting a baby to sleep you can beat any boss no problem. Congrats brother enjoy these little moments they go fast but they last a lifetime. My son still loves watching me play Elden Ring he knows when all the colored lights come on at my desk and I give him his controller (disconnected for now) it's souls time.

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

Thank you!! That’s so true lol. Yeah we are already a little sad she may just grow up so fast! That’s awesome though you have that memory with your son now!

u/Beneficial_Tie3776 Apr 20 '26

Everyone uses the black knight greatsword. I’ve tried multiple playthroyghs but the min I get it I just swap to it. It’s just too good.

u/slenderchamp Apr 20 '26

not sure why people care if you cheat humanity in, I do it sometimes, it's not a big deal. Congrats on becoming a dad!

u/Kisame-hoshigakii Apr 20 '26

Congratulations, I'm 5 month in to my first child, it started off quite easy, they eat then sleep for ages. Then out of no where, they'll eat more then they sleep. But then it comes back round again and they stop sleeping as much through the day and sleep more at night.

Good luck with it all, it's been an amazing experience so far and I wish you and your family great health

u/Ishiyuki2 Apr 20 '26

It is a great game, and congratulations on becoming a dad - enjoy!

u/RuthlessDrengr Apr 20 '26

One of the best reasons to have a handheld system. When the kiddos start to rest and you can't move you can still keep yourself entertained

u/TypicalJoke Apr 20 '26

Congratulations! I have a question, is multiplayer on switch alive? Im just curious. I have the trilogy for PS and have to finish byt being able to do it mobile looks awesome 😭

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

I had to give up my online subscription for Nintendo a few months ago so I’m not too sure! Maybe someone more qualified can answer!

u/ProfessorSkaegg Apr 20 '26

This is so magical. I remember when my first was born and I took all the nights so the mother could sleep and recharge. I was playing Jurassic park evolution and built my little park dinosaurs, it was peaceful, it was magical, it was life. This is 6 years ago. I know boys like dinosaurs but he’s obsessed with them and I love it.

u/ProfessorSkaegg Apr 20 '26

With that said, your kid will fix any impossible task coming to them.

u/nartaeh Apr 20 '26

Is it good on the Switch?

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

No complaints here!

u/Liminal_serpents Apr 21 '26

A hell yeah moment if I’ve even seen one, and the one Estus flask in blighttown, I feel that.

u/__Fatebringer__ Apr 21 '26

Congratulations on becoming a father, now you have one more tradition to pass down. Video Games... She's gonna love them...

u/Long_Day8888 Apr 22 '26

Hell yeah! Give yourself and the baby a beer

u/Arrow_of_Time2 Apr 22 '26

This brings back memories for me doing the same with my first child sleeping on my chest whilst grinding through DS1 on PS3.

Good times! Enjoy them

u/redditsuckspokey1 Apr 19 '26

I thought that was your p p slipping through the shirt.

Sorry if being too nsfw with the kid being around.

u/DamnCarlSucks Apr 20 '26

Get the kid out of the way, I'm trying to beat a boss! Nah congrats my G.

u/Murky-Tomorrow4013 Apr 20 '26

Congrats! I beat Elden Ring for the first time last year with my newborn sleeping on me just like this haha

u/throwaway_eng_acct Apr 20 '26

Hell yeah, I played DS1 and DS3 when my daughter was born. Not much else to do when she’s sleeping on my chest.

u/bongdropper Apr 20 '26

Haha, I played through a good portion of DS3 with my infant son sleeping on me. Congrats dad!

u/Itswithazee Apr 20 '26

Playing life on hard mode having a kid in this economy. Let me know when the economy exploit walk-throughs are dropped

u/lvl99Mace Apr 20 '26

Grats dude

u/Critical-Outside3272 Apr 20 '26

Just make sure you're throwing the Switch and not the baby if you ever start raging.

u/LPlusRaitio Apr 20 '26

I hope you show your child what really good games are.

u/Openbar01 Apr 20 '26

the best lullaby for a baby🥹

u/Edmundyoulittle Apr 20 '26

When I had mine I was playing BG3 on remote play.

Congrats, and good luck!

u/FaresCroteau Apr 20 '26

Praise the son!!!

u/plegba Apr 20 '26

Be careful, you might get hooked on all the other souls if you havent played them . 😉 I still think highly back to my 4am sessions with my new born.

u/drose349 Apr 21 '26

Congratulations on becoming a father! I played a fair amount of video games while I had my son sleeping on me, brought me so much peace in those moments.

u/runaumok Apr 21 '26

Did you humanity dupe or farm rats for 4 hours?

u/henny05100 May 11 '26

Gonna be difficult in game and IRL

u/thewinkleboss Apr 20 '26

Imagine holding your week old son in your arms and thinking, “this isn’t doing it for me. Better break out the switch.” Good luck to that kid.

u/Moon_Devonshire Apr 20 '26

the baby seems asleep and the guy is just sitting there with the kid. No harm in playing a damn game on his switch lol

u/Falcon_Kratos_786 Apr 21 '26

So what? Are you here glazing about your family life to us.

We don't care about it, not even 2 cents.

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '26

[deleted]

u/pooticus Apr 20 '26

Nope, we are an amazing team.

u/Illustrious_Wind6455 Apr 21 '26

May I ask why you assume that the mom has to do everything?

u/yoursweetheart- Apr 21 '26

bc it’s usually like that.

u/Illustrious_Wind6455 Apr 21 '26

You mean that in most relationships for parents (that you are personally aware of), the mother tends to do a majority of the work in raising the children?

u/yoursweetheart- Apr 21 '26

yes. men tend to take the easy jobs of parenthood where as the mothers have to do so much more and mainly raise the kids alone.

u/Illustrious_Wind6455 Apr 21 '26

Well I am sorry that these are the relationships you have witnessed. While I have seen relationships like that, I've also seen the opposite, with the fathers taking the primary role. Most relationships I've seen function as a fairly equal partnership. It is unfair of you to assume that OP's relationship is one of the negative relationships like those you have witnessed.

u/yoursweetheart- Apr 21 '26

what’s unfair is that men be doing this to women on the daily. it’s not about what i’ve witnessed, it’s about what women all over the world witness every!! that’s the only thing unfair about it.

u/Illustrious_Wind6455 Apr 21 '26

What specifically about OP's post tells you that he personally is an unengaged father?

u/yoursweetheart- Apr 21 '26

he is playing his video game while mom probably has to clean or cook for the family and doesn’t get enough time for herself

u/Illustrious_Wind6455 Apr 21 '26

You are making so many assumptions. Are you saying that if someone has a child then they can no longer play videogames?

→ More replies (0)

u/pooticus Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

lol I’m a professional chef, and I cook, clean, do the dishes, change diapers, laundry, all mom has to do right now is rest and feed the baby, and that’s more than enough, I’m handling everything else, not that it’s any of your business in the first place.

u/anyokes Apr 21 '26

Or possibly.. mother is gone to bed early getting some much needed sleep while dad looks after baby, baby falls asleep after a bottle and burp in daddy's arms, daddy doesn't want to move and possibly wake the soundly sleeping baby, or risk waking the soundly sleeping mother, and instead decides to stay put and play some DS on the couch while baby snores on his chest.

But you can't even conceive that being the case because you're too hung up on your own bullshit and projections. Go get therapy or something, you're damaged.

u/anyokes Apr 21 '26

Sounds like those women have poor taste in men and should be more cautious about who they have children with.
