I have the weirdest love-hate relationship with this dude. Anyone who acted like Donald Trump was at any point in time a better solution for this country than literally anything else (such as a potato) is an absolute moron. And he did exactly that. But now he’s taking the exact opposite road, which means that he has some inkling of understanding, and he’s acting like all of this is new to him.
•
u/ShaneFalcoisElite 2d ago
Very underrated comment. I struggle with this daily. We need people to change but supporting Trump (or any right leaning politics) at any point is a non sequitur for your opinion mattering at all going forward.
•
u/Lena-Luthor 2d ago
honestly I think it would be extremely beneficial if people realized their opinion just like, doesn't matter by and large. social media has completely warped everyone's perception of the importance of their stupid uninformed opinions. obviously them not supporting trump anymore is a net good here but yeah it definitely doesn't mean their thoughts are worth anything inherently
•
u/TummyPuppy 2d ago
Truly. I remember 9/11 causing me to realize the US had been doing underhanded shit. It was my turning point. I knew we wouldn’t find weapons of mass destruction because I read 2 books and watched the news. It’s not THAT hard to read between the lines of fascist propaganda. These people truly are this dumb. Look at Marjorie Taylor Green. She’s a fine example of it. Genuinely dumb people get into high levels of power. They parrot bullshit talking points like good little children. Then, WHOOPS! HoW KoULD i HAv knOWn!?!
•
u/ParisShades Sworn to the Collapse 2d ago
I can give the benefit of the doubt to someone who supported him during his first term, but came to their senses afterwards, but if you voted for him in 2020 and 2024, I'm going to find it much harder to accept your awakening, because a part of me feels like you're only turning because you're no longer benefit from him.
•
u/DocTaotsu 2d ago
I mean I think the real question is if you repudiate his policies and the politicians who enable him. Trump isn't on the ballot but a lot of people who support him are. And in my corner of the world the Trump flags came down but the MAGA candidate signs are going up. He could die tomorrow and a lot of these people will still support the machine he's built.
•
•
u/Mediterraneanseeker 2d ago
To be sure, better late than never - but I tend to agree with you here.
•
u/moobycow 2d ago
Here's the way I look at it. I am glad that people have changed their minds, but when they continue to put their opinions out there like they are worth listening to... No. You lost the right to have people take you seriously when you were on the wrong side of the most obvious question ever.
Unless you explain how your method for thinking through problems was obviously flawed and you rebuilt your decision making process, we can just assume any correct opinion you have now is due to random chance. Shut up, you have nothing of worth to add.
•
u/mmmfritz 2d ago
Dillon supporting trump or saying it doesn’t matter there’s no alternative?
Very different things.
•
•
u/Deep_Explanation7182 2d ago
He’s just a rat who jumped ship from MAGA before the cult crashed...
•
u/TummyPuppy 2d ago
I really don’t believe that. I think he’s just such a mid-level, walking-the-line, too afraid to pick a side asshole that he needs to sit down and shut the fuck up. I think he’s capable of intelligent decision-making but he babysat what amounts to fascism too long for me to care about his opinion now. He’s just for fun now.

Boo hoo to him. He voted for this, he doesn't get to say he doesn't like the results.
He's got a spot in the detention centers with all the other traitors when this is over.

Has Tim apologized for his past support of a child rapist?
Has he done anything to atone for that?
No? Well fuck him.

These are the type of people that pushed us into Iraq in 2003 then completely denied any responsibility years later
•
u/Proper_Geologist9026 2d ago
I listened to his pod around 2020 ish and it was hilarious. He's like if Alex Jones was still tethered to reality.
Over time though he lost me because he's always played off both sides but that gets harder to tolerate as one side drift further into insanity.
•
u/Express-3446 2d ago
Like many comedians (some of my faves are Shane Gillis, Jordan Jensen) - I love his comedy and hate all this takes.
at least we have Stavvy out there.

Not a moron, moreso ignorant. As someone who was never a fan of that man, I understand why people voted for him
Trump is a good businessman to people who don't know a single thing about business. But you must understand, Americans aren't educated to he businessmen and women, they are educated to be cogs in the machine.
Most of his voter base were just thinking about their children and their future. Maga offered "solutions" to all of that. If you aren't raised to know how to think bigger picture, you don't have the discernment to seperate bullshit from reality. Trump is very successful on paper, and his "vote for the business that's what America really needs" was an effective marketing strategy. America is a corporation essentially, after all
But that is not the same as actual stupidity in my opinion. And we must stop throwing hate at each other. You are literally adding nothing of value or getting us anywhere closer to a resolution by doing so, you are only reinforcing tribal mentality.
Regardless, we are fucked if something doesn't change but hate and vitriol is only pushing us further down the path that led us to the point we are at now
•
u/BlackMassSmoker 2d ago edited 2d ago
It's funny how most of those in the 'Rogansphere' are now suddenly dealing with the fact that the second Trump term has been an unmitigated disaster. How quickly the rubbing shoulders with the white house loses its lustre when the man you backed is leading the US from one disaster to another. Like no way, the narcissistic serial liar lied to us and is driven by total self interest - no way, I thought he'd make things better!
And look, I listen to Tim from time to time. I do find him funny sometimes. As a friend pointed out he's like a radio host in a GTA game. And he is obviously collapse aware in some form. In previous rants he mentioned it's blatantly obvious the billionaires are installing mass surveillance so they can monitor and try and control the coming chaos - a topic spoken of on here recently.

“Stay positive” says the maga pandering crusader against “woke culture.” Fuck him and everyone like him.

To be frank, i don't want to know.

Wasn't this dude a Trump nut rider?
•
u/anothernic 2d ago
Yeah, he had JD Vance on his podcast a week before the 2024 election.
He agreed to go to the Riyad Comedy Festival because they were "paying enough to look the other way," and was subsequently fired before attending for making a joke on a podcast about Saudi use of forced labor.
Classic conservative hack.
•
u/RoboProletariat 2d ago
Yeah, he helped by interviewing JD Vance and supporting the campaign.
-people can change
-we don't have to forgive them•

Dudes got good takes but flies with the wind.
He absolutely rode Trump/JDs coattails and saw the way things were going and how even the most ardent Trump supporters will be treating him how Bush was treated after the fact. "We didnt vote for him and the war was fugazi".
Dillon has a legitimately good take on the world and our future but you have to discern it between all the nonsense and grifting hes done. He even admits hes a sellout in multiple pods, not quite like that but money talks.
He knows better, like many do yet saw his subscribers through multiple media's and patreon explode during the Rogan-CNN era and went all in on the cash cow until he saw it drying up, he jumped ship and finally went all in on critical analysis of the administration he was on board for.
Dude knew Trump was the worse of two bad options but got paid more heavily vying for it, now we see the consequences that are too obvious to turn a blind eye too. He isn't responsible for Trumps win but he certainly wasnt neutral for a period there.
Long time listener whos slightly disappointed but saw it coming much like I did Rogan.
Really Robert Evans is the best Podcaster of all time and we all know it.

One other thing you should ask yourself. If Trump and his admin did everything the exact same the past two years, but he still had public opinion on his side, do you really think Tim Dillon would have turned on him?
•
u/cursedfan 2d ago
Russian shill

Couldn't make it past him vocalizing how Epstein victims should behave.
People like that are going to do anything but blame themselves for their mistakes. Or crimes for that matter.
•
u/NyriasNeo 2d ago
"I don't know what to do anymore, but I'll tell you this, you just got to stay positive."
why? We can always accept and make peace, and live as if the world is not going to end, until it does. No "stay positive" is needed.
•
u/dogpaddle 2d ago
I think this gets at the center of hopium. It's still a refusal of reality that's midway through the stages of grief. You haven't truly accepted that it's hopeless. Which is depressing, but going through that depression eventually you'll reach the final stage of acceptance.
That's not even getting into the concept of toxic positivity.

That's a subject for a thread of its own.
•
u/LetMeMerge 2d ago
I think It’s important that the podcasters/“comedians” who laundered trump’s reputation before the 2024 election not be allowed to squirm out of their culpability now that he’s having extremely predictably deleterious effects on America and the rest of the world
•
u/wee_man 2d ago
I dunno. I’d rather have them come back to reality and bring some fans/followers with them, than continue riding this delusional wave to the end.
•
u/LetMeMerge 2d ago
Valid but I don’t think they’re “coming back to reality” they’re just blowing with the wind. They’re going to hop on the Tucker Carlson train in six months or less

I don’t feel sorry for him or any MAGA. They reveled in their ignorance and hate while making decisions that will probably rapidly damn all of us to annihilation very soon. At the time when we needed to be our best, they chose to be their worst. The ecology is rapidly imploding not to mention the likelihood of a total economic collapse under the insane leadership of a dementia addled moron.
No…..they betrayed us and sold everyone out for some petty grievances, ignorant racist hate and token unrealized benefits. They are traitors and cowards. They are damned for all eternity and not even their corpse god they invented to forgive themselves for their own sins can save them from the damnation they’ve wrought. May they never know peace under any sky and all the stars in the heavens sit in judgement upon their failures for all time.

They are going to be judged for what they are doing to our planet when the time comes.

Trump is just a meat shield to these people. He was always expendable - his job was to eventually be cast out and take the blame for all the pain he's caused the lower classes, and his disposal was always part of the narrative: "oh no Trump went bad, who could've known, but never mind, he's gone, here's the next conservative savior", which appears to be JD Vance (although he's a tough sell).
All these right wing, sorry, "centrist" pundits are in the transitional phase of switching to the next grift: "I never really liked him in the first place"

The following submission statement was provided by /u/OGSyedIsEverywhere:
Submission statement: YouTube comedians and podcasters are either entirely aware of collapse or entirely hopium-pilled maniacs bickering about passing trends, with apparently one exception. I'm a regular listener to the Tim Dillon show on my commute whenever a new episode is available and he has slowly come down a rabbithole of more and more collapse awareness over the last year or so. Today, I think he's independently arrived at what the people here already know.
Collapse awareness without acceptance and understanding is just hell and it looks like this guy has just now managed the shift to acceptance and understanding. The segments of this episode of the show devoted to different parts of societal collapse are funny and devoid of the kind of bitterness that so many have, with a great conclusion.

Tim Dillon will always be right-wing grifter.
It's not a surprise that my family in Serbia, call the second Donald Trump presidential administration, an administration of maniacs and psychopaths. Not that the previous American presidential administration were much better than this one. Exceptions are there, of course.

"taking out debt to learn about American imperialism and then having to pay it back by going on and imperial conquest" is pretty funny though.

This guy acts half as intelligently as other content creators from marginalized groups and ends up with double the fame and regard because he acts and looks like a typical cishet white guy. That’s all it is.
Edit to add: Gay men who perform these roles are many— they know better.

Yes collapse but the system is a rancid one and collapse is an opportunity for real change
