CITY's Logo Font

I've never seen any information about this online, so I don't know if this is already known, but much like nichijou before it, the CITY logo seems to also use a pre-existing font.

It's technically not a PERFECT match since as seen in the comparison it is a tad off, like with the T and the Y, but it is VERY close and would be relatively easy to modify to be perfect.

What are the chances that the Izumi's in City are related to Sukarai's family from Nichijou?

This may be a silly question, but... how come this sub was created in 2009 if the manga began in 2016?

Upvotes

Did the sub r/city already exist since 2009 (which would make sense) but was used for another purpose until Keiichi Arawi's CITY manga came out? Is there a funny story or history to that?

I am just curious, and apologies if it breaks the sub's rules for being meta and not directly related to the actual manga.

Thanks for reading!

Hello, dear my friends

I just finished this show and it has been a mind-altering experience. I usually can't get through TV shows quickly or easily because I have near life-ruining ADHD. So my backlog of anime rn is like 150 unwatched shows. However, City doesn't cost me anything to watch. It just flows. Like all the noise on the inside is being cancelled by the noise on the outside. I have been watching it at 1.5x and I'm locked-tf-in. Something that previously only listening to chaotic metal music can do for me. I'm feeling loose, nimble, and limitless. Nichijou next, I guesssss baybeee. I also enjoyed Apocalypse Hotel at 1.3x. Don't hate me.

Just finished the last episode. What a show!

Upvotes

Might be a long post but I just wanted to share some of my opinions about the series.

I had heard of CITY a few times but only in the context of it being a spiritual successor or even a sequel to Nichijou, but after watching them both for the first time back to back, I think that gives a bad impression of the show.

While CITY still has a very strong comedy and is still really exaggerated, it's definitely a more "relaxed" experience and even then its still very chaotic in places (episode 5 and 9 come to mind), however that definitely made me enjoy the show less since I was expecting more of Nichijou's fast paced and over the top comedy.

Episode 5 was the one that truly made me appreciate what the show was and made me go rewatch episodes 1 - 4 and made me enjoy them way more now that I wasn't comparing them, this also further reinforced one of my favorite aspects of the show which is just how interconnected the whole city feels and how this happens at just the right pace to avoid it feeling overwhelming.

The characters themselves were also really strong, there wasn't really a moment in the show that I felt bored while watching them, even the weakest one (shogi) was still entertaining. The "main trio" of Nagumo, Niikura and Wako all really grew on me even if they didn't make that strong of a first impression, my only real "problem" is that I wish Wako would've gotten more screentime

However Matsuri and Ecchan were the true stars of the show and had some of the most memorable moments, their first segment was the thing I liked the most during the first episode and every subsequent one was even better. The two frogs in a well and 500k yen scenes have been on repeat on my mind for days now which made their farewell in the finale hit that much harder.

I watched the whole show in short of 2 weeks, waching one episode a day and I feel like that made me appreciate the characters that much more, I doubt the finale would've felt as emotional if I had just binged it, however even in that small amount of time, I feel confident in saying that this has become one of my favorite shows OAT for a variety of reasons and I'm sure it will enter my rotation of stuff I rewatch every year.

There's way more things I really liked about the show (the musical ending, music, more stuff about the secondary characters, artstyle) but if I went in detail about everything then the post would be way longer, but I'd like to add that I'm really excited to start buying and reading the manga volumes after knowing they add way more to the story and characters.

Mitsuami Piledriver Soroban -Fan Manga/Anime I haven't read the City manga yet, but was it that intense? Is there another moment in *Nichijou* that rivals this one in terms of pro-wrestling parodies?

Is the manga really that different from the anime?

Upvotes

I'm watching the anime for the first time but something I've heard for a while is that it cuts out too much from the manga.

Is it worth it to buy the manga to get a more "complete" experience?

Edit: Seems like the manga has way more stuff, definitely gonna try to buy the volumes after finishing the anime.

I'm gonna try to not procrastinate and make more art of this, it's really fun to think about, I don't know how I could draw Wako and Niikura though 💔💔💔

I dreamed that youtube recommended me this video and when I clicked on it it was an AMV of a screamo song with pictures of Niikura from the manga even though this picture is from the anime
