Disputed charge found in favor of merchant, what to do?

Upvotes

I booked a flight on Frontier Airlines. They cancelled my flight (no crew). When I checked in the next day for the rescheduled flight, I was charged a second time for the bags I had already paid for when I booked the flight.

Frontier is claiming I was charged for overweight bags, but they were not overweight. They were not overweight when I checked in the night before before the flight was cancelled, and they were not overweight when I checked in the next day. They have refused to refund me anything for these bags, either from the initial cancelled flights or from the erroneous overweight charge the next day.

I filed a dispute with Citi, but they ruled in the merchant's favor without taking any information from me. Is there any more appeal process with Citi or should I move on to cancel their credit card, file in small claims court against Frontier, and get a new credit card with someone else?

Employee/Employment NYC: “Business Review” + photo submitted — how long until offer?

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m hoping some recent Citi hires/recruiters can give me some perspective on my current hiring timeline.

I’m an external candidate who interviewed for a front office trader role in NYC last month.

Last week, the recruiter told me “currently awaiting the final decision from the business team.” At the same time, I was assigned one Workday task which was to upload a professional photo. The portal specifically said that “since you have been selected as the final candidate,” I needed to provide a photo before I could receive an offer. I completed the photo/task immediately. My candidate portal currently shows “Business Review.”

For people who have recently gone through Citi’s hiring process:

1. Does this sound like a normal late-stage/offer-approval stage?

  1. How long did you wait after the photo + Workday tasks + Business Review stage before receiving a verbal or written offer?

  2. Does “selected as the final candidate” usually mean the business has effectively chosen you and is just completing approvals, or can Citi still be deciding between multiple candidates at that point?

  3. Is it normal for the business decision to take 1–3+ weeks after the final interview?

  4. If you received an offer, how much time passed between the photo request and the verbal/written offer?

I realize nobody here can know my specific outcome, but I’m mainly trying to understand whether I’m in a normal waiting period or whether the lack of an update at this point is unusual.

Technical Issues Beyond Miffed

Upvotes

Heya. I'm trying to see if anyone else has had this issue because it is legitimately frying my f***ing brain.

My husband and I have a Costco membership. I applied for the Citi Costco Visa. Was approved. Received the card about a week later.

Added my husband as an authorized user. Card never arrived. Checked with Citi. Told us the USPS sent it back, but we never heard anything about it. Requested another. Never showed. That was almost 3 months ago.

Fast forward to today. We have made 5 F***ING ATTEMPTS at getting this card for my husband. We love at the same address. We use the same PO box. It will not deliver. I've tried the chat system. The chat system is all AI; I'm convinced a real person never is on the end of it because there's no way the level of miscommunication that occurs in it is human.

I've called. I've been told every f***ing time that a new card is on the way, be patient, it will get delivered. Never shows up. I ask if it can be sent via UPS or FedEx so we get some actual tracking information. I'm told yes. THEN IT GETS SENT VIA THE USPS.

At this point, I have no f***ing clue what to do. How many times do I have to call? How many requests do we have to make? How many times of it going undelivered FOR NO REASON do we put up with before they just send it the way we're asking? I've done every f***ing verification I've been asked to do to ensure its being sent to the right person at the right address; the SAME ADDRESS my card was delivered to. WHAT ELSE DO I DO??

Anyone tried downgrading the citi strata premier to a custom cash? Do they even let you do this stil

Upvotes

.. let you do this still or not?

Heard rumors some months ago the citi custom cash was going the way of the dodo bird

And it seems to be gone from the citi credit card page

But... will the citi custom cash be around as a card downgrade option?

If not then is my best downgrade option the citi double cash 2% card? Might be better than my current amex business 2% card since it would be a mastercard/more flexible? Any better downgrade option?

Was looking into citi's aadvantage mileage no annual fee card but it doesn't seem to have any checked bag benefit or anything so seems worse than the 2% card as a downgrade option

Credit Cards Balance transfer

Upvotes

Through Credit Karma, I did a balance transfer and was approved with Citi double cash. It had me put in the account # for the high interest cc, etc. After everything was submitted, it had me download the app, make a login and such. I imagine I need to wait a couple days/weeks for everything to go through?

The citi app still says I still have the full amount I was approved for & nothing in progress for a balance transfer even tho I did know originally

Hybrid tracking - details

Upvotes

So while hybrid says 3 days in / 2 out a week, just wondering the logistics on two areas:

1) I believe the manager handbook when this was rolled out said if you take off one day in the week or it’s a holiday, you don’t need to make up the in office day so only need to go in 1 day to be compliant - is that still the case?

2) I believe the intial roll out also mentioned the report that monitors this flags individuals who have not been in the office for 3 days within the week (not counting holidays) for at least the last 2 of the last 4 weeks. Technically, that really means I would not be flagged by the report if I went in 0 days for 2 weeks, and then went in at least 3 days a week for the 2 weeks following - right?

Obviously managers monitor this and the team/colleagues do as well, I know Citi is more flexible than most and even the August extra remote time was great…but just asking so I understand how to ensure I’m compliant with what is getting reported and how it’s measured. I definitely understand following the spirit of the rule and don’t want to push that, but am really curious if others have more insight here. I know and am greatful Citi is still hybrid. Thanks!!

Am I blacklisted from Citibank?

Upvotes

I had a bank account with Citibank a regular DEBIT CARD account just a checking and savings. I was facing at the time financial ruins to the point that I maxed out my checking and saving account but here is the thing they told me I owe 15.15 or they will close my account I couldn't go to the bank because at the time where I lived there was a blizzard the snow was thick that I could swallow you. So when I went there the next day they told me this I can't pay it because the system won't allow them and that it was written off too small to go to collections and I have to wait 6 months to apply for Citibank. I researched about the Chexsystem but they won't let me create an account. So what I am saying is if I pay it off will | be able to bank with them again or pay the debt and bite my losses

Citi Diamond Preferred 0% Balance Transfer - Can I use it to pay IRS?

Upvotes

I need to pay about $16,500 to the IRS and I’m considering the Citi Diamond Preferred offer with 0% balance transfer APR for 21 months.

Two questions:

After approval, can I pay the IRS directly with the Citi card and have that qualify for the 0% offer?
After getting approved, does Citi Diamond Preferred allow a balance transfer directly to my checking account? Has anyone done this recently?

Has anyone done either of these recently?

Citi bank holidays

Hello - I just signed a financial planning analyst position with Citi bank. I’m going to be transitioning from a firm that gave us a week long summer break and winter break. I was curious what Citibank’s holiday calendar is like for someone in a corporate role like this one?

Technical Issues It's time to leave Citibank

Upvotes

I recently changed my email address but Citibank only allowed changing it online for my credit cards.

I had to spend three hours in the branch so they could change it on my Citi brokerage, checking, savings, and CD for me.

Weeks later it was changed back to my old email address that will soon be obsolete.

This is a sign of total incompetence!

Held payments

Upvotes

I have a Citi AAdvantage executive card. I’ve had it for many years, and have always made many small payments every few days. It’s just how I manage money. It was going great until yesterday. I made two payments over the last two days. It updated my available credit as normal yesterday. Then today that was all gone, with nothing noted. I called them this morning and the rep told me they tightened their security recently, and she’s been getting a lot of calls lately, and it happened to her personally.

Apparently me making frequent payments triggered something, so now there is a ten day hold on all of my payments. She said the only way to get around it is to CALL in and do it via debit card, as this doesn’t get a hold placed, but you also can’t do it via the app. I haven’t called to make a payment in years, but did today and it took about 7 min to get through their menus.

None of my accounts have changed, including the checking account I’m making payments from. They just suddenly decided every payment made via the app gets a ten day hold.

What in the actual fuck?

Banking This bank sucks

Upvotes

🚨 Y’ALL… I NEED SOMEBODY TO EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.
Because how does a bank decide that I can’t access MY OWN MONEY for 30–60 DAYS?!
Let me tell y’all what happened with Citibank.
I recently opened a Citibank account thinking, “Hey, this could be a good account to have.”
Yeah… red flag. 🚩
Almost immediately after opening it, my debit card was locked. I had direct deposit going into the account, so I called.
I’m thinking, “Damn, y’all move FAST. I just opened the account!”
Then it happened again.
And again.
It seemed like every few transactions, my card would get locked.
🚩 Red flag #2.
Eventually, it stopped happening, so I figured maybe they had worked out whatever issue they were having. I kept the account and deposited around $400 because I had a few bills coming out of it.
Then we get to September 2nd.
Now, there’s a whole OTHER story involving me getting scammed out of $2,500 that I’m not even going to get into right now. 😩
But because of that situation, I had money orders that I needed to cash/deposit because I had moving expenses coming up.
I needed money for a U-Haul. Storage. Bills. I also needed to send my sister $200 for letting me stay at her house.
REAL LIFE STUFF.
I tried to cash the money orders at Citibank.
They told me there would be a hold.
Fine.
I went somewhere else, handled what I could, and then deposited the money into my Citibank account because I needed to USE MY MONEY.
I go to use my debit card.
DECLINED.
Try again.
DECLINED.
At this point I’m like, “Oh, here we go again.”
I call Citibank.
They tell me there’s a transaction from August 9th that needs to be verified.
I couldn’t even remember exactly what the transaction was, but I said:
“VERIFY IT. I don’t care. Just give me access to my money.”
They transfer me to another department.
That department tells me:
“You have to go into a branch.”
Okay.
I go into the branch.
The banker calls.
They tell him:
“24 hours.”
Okay… weird, but whatever.
I wait.
I come back 24 HOURS LATER.
And NOW I’m told:
“It’s going to be a 30–60 DAY HOLD.”
EXCUSE ME?! 😳
30 TO 60 DAYS?!
I told the banker, “I NEED MY MONEY. I have NOTHING right now. I need every dollar I have.”
The banker calls again.
They say they’re trying to expedite the process and maybe I’ll hear something tomorrow.
Tomorrow is Friday.
Monday is a holiday.
And I’m sitting here with a quarter tank of gas, nowhere to go, expenses piling up, and MONEY SITTING IN A BANK ACCOUNT THAT I CANNOT ACCESS.
And let’s be very clear:
MY TRANSACTIONS ARE LEGITIMATE.
I work for a hospital.
My income is legitimate.
The money orders were legitimately purchased using my Capital One card — the same account I normally use for my direct deposit.
I’m not asking for somebody else’s money.
I’m not asking for a loan.
I’m not asking for anything extra.
I’M ASKING TO ACCESS MY OWN MONEY.
So now I’m sitting in my car trying to figure out how I’m supposed to pay for a U-Haul, storage, bills, gas, and everything else when my bank has decided my money belongs to them for the next 30–60 DAYS.
And the craziest part?
I opened this account because I thought having another bank account would make my life easier.
😭😭😭
CITIBANK… WHAT ARE WE DOING?!
Because I genuinely need somebody to explain to me how this is okay.
And before anybody says, “You should’ve just used Capital One”…
I KNOW.
That’s literally where my direct deposit normally goes.
I only used Citibank because I needed a convenient account with access to an ATM.
Lesson learned.
🚩 RED FLAG #3: Maybe opening this account was the mistake.
Now I just need my money back.

Checking account randomly going negative??

Upvotes

My account has been fluctuating between a negative and positive balance throughout the day. I’m not sure why this is happening. Initially, I suspected that it was due to an online purchase that was still pending. So, I added enough funds to cover the negative balance, but when I checked again, the money had been refunded, and the balance showed positive. However, a few hours later, the balance went negative again, and then it returned to positive. Is this a system glitch? I’ve read some comments from people who experienced this issue a few months ago, but I’m not sure if others are currently facing the same problem.

Can't Get Ahold Of Customer Service To Remove Fraud Hold

Upvotes

Got a fraud alert on my Citi Strata Premiere card but did not see any fraudulent charges on my chart. My card is blocked now though. I tried calling the number they listed on my account but got stuck on hold for one hour before giving up. I don't see a online chat function on the website to use so I don't know what to do now. I've tried calling 1-800-695-4981, 1-800-950-5114, and 1-800-825-0393.

Credit Cards Notice on my Citi credit card stmt - they are changing the due date

Upvotes

I've had the due date set to the 27th for years. My 9/1 statement has a notice they are moving it (and the Autopay) to the 28th. I did not request this.

I wanted the CLOSING (i.e. Statement) date as close to month-END as possible, and this was the best I could do. The 27th usually gave me a closing date of the 1st, occasionally the 2nd or 3rd. I assume this will move the closing date to the 2nd (/3rd/4th?).

On the web-site "Change Due Date" gives me an error, and under "AutoPay" it says:

Please be advised that your monthly payment due date will change starting with your statement issued in October. We encourage you to review your August and September statement messages for more details regarding this important change.

You have an AutoPay update in progress. It will be effective on your next statement.

so I'm stuck for now. Historically, when you wanted to change due date they would show a generic month with two columns blocked, leaving, for example, the 24th and the 27th as available choices. I'm guessing the available choices have changed, but I can't see them until the forced change cycle completes.

Anyone know what the new choices are? Thanks!

Banking How to Close a Citi Account w/o ATM card (avoid phone loop)

Upvotes

I've been trying to close my Citi bank accounts for the last week without an active ATM card. Here was my process, hope this info saves you time and frustration.

  1. Visit a branch to get account details: Online login and password requires an active ATM card. If you don't have an active ATM card, you must go to a physical branch in person to get information about your account and routing numbers.

  2. Empty account: Use another bank to pull $ from your Citi account using account and routing numbers. (Note your account balance to ensure you don't get hit w/ minimum balance fees.)

  3. Call and use "Transfer Money" shortcut: Call Citi customer service 1-800 number and ask to "Transfer Money" to bypass the auto loop and connect to a live representative. (I mistakenly said "Close Account, and was directed to an automated message directing me to call back during the bank's operating hours... at 9:45am on a Thursday.)

  4. Confirm and cancel: Confirm w/ rep the balance is $0, then request to Cancel Account. They can finalize in less than 5 minutes.
