I've only had this problem when I was briefly in a tier 25 (I don't remember the exact tier but it was high af) in Guizhou. It was every morning exactly at 5, like you say. I have no idea what could possibly compel them to do this. Like are they staying up all night and then doing it, or is it some kind of strange morning routine? Either way it's bizarre

Stopped hearing those even during New Year’s. Not sure if I had stockholm syndrome but I kinda miss it. Now it’s just straight up depression.

I haven't heard this in years. They banned fireworks where I live, and unlike some places they seem to have taken that seriously here. Used to get woken up at 5am all the time back in the day.

They banned them in my city too, and it mostly held until the next minor festival, then all bets were off and it went right back to normal permanent daily nuisance.
They aren't even cool visual fireworks, there's no visual aspect at all. They're just designed to make the loudest, most sustained noise possible. Basically bombs, minus the physical damage.

That is correct, there is no visual. It is just noise and pollution. I expect this kind of shit from Vietnam because noise and pollution is central to their culture, but I expect better from China. China does not do better, but I still expect better as a sneering imperialist.

My mate lives one city over from me in Hangzhou, and he has constant issues with it. For some reason Ningbo banned them, and it just stuck. You still get them out in the countryside, but in the city proper nowt. I genuinely miss them at spring festival, but the rest of the year I'm fairly happy with my lot

They’re banned in Hangzhou too but the last couple of CNYs there have been lots set off. Not quite the world war 3 effect you used to get, but considerably more the past few years.

My first apartment in China was directly beside a fireworks factory where they would test fireworks all day long in the alley between the buildings. I didn't stay there long.

It is part of the culture in the north, further north than Beijing. If you start arresting nongs for 0500 fireworks, then you lose the labour force.

I know this is a real thing but not for me. Where I live we thankfully don’t have this problem.
You guys in the north and in tier 3 or worse are better men than I could ever be.

I prefer the cold, although climate change making summers 30° at the low end in the north makes that desire meaningless until winter, I suppose.

When you lose one hour of sleep per day because of nongs exploding something outside, you lose an entire day of sleep per week, or almost two months of sleep per year. I am seeking to move again because of this exact problems. I can chabuduo all of the interior problems, but nongs with ordnance and no respect for the other thousands of people in the community cannot be fixed, only moved away from. 5000 years of being bad neighbours, do you know it?
Also sadly, no risk of nongs blowing themselves up. They just use the safe cannon to auto-fire today, no risk, just annoyance very efficiency with Chinese characteristics.
