Is this a good noise or bad noise

New cat owner, she makes this noise quite a lot and I’m wondering if it’s just personality or if she’s in discomfort/distress? She hides sometimes and I’ll get her out of specific spots (like behind the oven lol) and she’ll hiss when she hears me coming, but never when I’m in her vision. Then she’ll make this noise the whole time. Also makes it while she’s rolling around and being lovey dovey so I figured it’s normal? Just wanted to make sure

I believe it is normal and is showing like signs of affection my cat does this while rubbing against my leg. Hope this helps.

She’s just talking to you! My boy does the exact same thing, be prepared to be woken up at 5am for food 😭

That's a good noise! Vocalizing like that is how cats talk to and greet one another. You are friend.

That’s how kitties communicate with each other. They’ve only adapted to meow to communicate with humans. Those little ppprrrhhrrs are normal ❤️

Very good noise. I hear purring and she likes you. Give her a spot to hide you never get her out and ignore her, so she have a definite place to hide when she wants to be alone

Because it’s not a prolonged sound (which is a bad noise. You’ll absolutely know it when you hear it), it’s just a trill and is a good sound. Some cats just sound a little scarier than other cats because of the pitch of their voice.

“I want to, but I can’t (yet).” she wants to approach you, is still a bit nervous and insecure. but can go very quickly in this stage and suddenly you are occupied

she's 100% fine. my 6 mo girl purrs a lot like this when she's in super goony mode. she makes that little squeak with her purr and sometimes makes little yapping sounds too, which are pretty funny. the hissing will resolve as she acclimates to her new home. for the first few weeks after I adopted her, the same kitten I mentioned would hiss anytime I entered the room until she saw it was me, then her tail would come up and she'd trot up to me. your kitty is making happy sounds, so all is well.

To my understanding "kurr?" is a friendly cat question. I think the kitty's saying "Where were you? What's going on? Do you want to pet me? Where are my pets? Where did you go? No pets anymore, huh?"

I call this the cat activation sound. I think mine does this to say hi when she hasn't seen me in a few hours.

She's just talkin' to you while y'all interact. Sounds like she's still adjusting to a new environment. The hissing until she sees you is her being nervous and telling the unknown entity to not get close. She looks like she might want to play. Stick a string or feather through that gap when y'all hang out there

That's called trilling, I think. My cats do it when they see squirrels from the window. If she's not fixed, an increase of this vocalization with other behavior could mean she's in heat. If she's raising her back end while making this noise, she's trying to mate and she needs to be neutered.

Like others have said, despite it sounding almost like a growl, it’s more of like, half purr half meow, it’s definitely a happy sound.

my cat likes taking naps in dark spots and will make this noise to let me know where she is, very helpful when I'm moving equipment around so I know not to box in the closet demon. I think it's a way of preventing friendly cats from getting spooked as they approach

That sound is reserved for a bowl of raw chicken being lowered to the floor at my house. Super happy kitty.

She has kind of a low voice so it almost sounds growly but it's definitely happy trilling. Purring and rolling around is a dead giveaway!
