I've learned the trick where you make 3 piles of cards from a deck of 27 cards 3 times and in the end the chard will always end up where you want it from a chosen number between 1-27. the cards are supposed to be delt face up but I wanted to do it face down while showing the participant the piles so they will identify which one the chosen card is in but I don't see the cards face up. When I've run this wile the cards are face down the card never ends up in the right location.

You are supposed to take the chosen cards pile and place it in the stack of 3 piles in a certain order based on the chosen number so for example if the chosen number is 9 you go top, top, bottom. if the number is double digits you add them together and use that to get the first 2 deck movements the stack 1-9 bottom, 10-18 middle, 19-27. I don't know what's going wrong but the math is the same why isn't it working with the cards being dealt facedown?

About 7 years ago, I bought myself a Bicycle Standard deck. For 6 of those years, I haven't even touched it. What deck could I buy that offers both great handling and beautiful aesthetics?

I've considered displaying decks of cards, but I only use standard red and blue bicycle cards so it might be a bit bland.

Im looking for a very specific card trick tutorial. I saw it years ago on youtube (mismag822). Its a trick where by you pre order the cards and then the trick ends with you revealing a certain date. So you could set the trick up for the current date and the reveal would be a 5, 9, 2, 0, 2, 6.

does anyone recognise this trick and if so know where i cant find a tutorial for it. Thank you in advance

I can do the cull but I feel like it looks a little fishy... I would like for anyone to critique my technique, and also provide a few ideas on what to say. I would not like to say, "so we have a shuffled deck of cards" as that seems a little suspicious as a spectator haha. Thank you!

I'm transitioning to using video instead of a mirror to monitor my practicing. (With a mirror, I can't stop myself from squinting during the sneaky bits, which tells me nothing.)

Maybe a dumb question, but I'm curious how people handle the logistics of setting up the camera and reviewing the video.

It seems like a hassle: you position your phone/camera just right (maybe on a tripod), hit record, move to your spot, do the trick, hit stop, pick up the camera to watch the video, put it back in position, etc.

Is there a better way? I'm imagining something where you could connect the camera/phone to a laptop, and maybe there's some software out there so you could just hit a key or two on the laptop to start/stop recording and play the just-recorded video on the laptop screen.

Does such a thing already exist? The simpler and cheaper the better. Thanks.

I decided to pick up stack work again after two years or so of letting it calcify in my brain, and I thought I'd put my otherwise worthless computer science degree to good use and make a web app to help with training. It uses the approach I found the most effective when I learned mnemonica for the very first time, which was spamming Quizlet notecards. Other than that, it's got a couple of very useful functions that I think make the app a genuinely useful resource. Because it's a web app, it can be used on any device that can access the web, and I made sure it was dimensionally responsive, so it'll look just as beautiful on a small mobile device as it will on a computer screen. Oh, and it's free, and will always be free.

So I've had alot of fun doing the DNB 2.0 spread control by Franco Pascali, and i know subway. But im unsure of other effects you can do once you have their card to the bottom, or just in a cull. I just usually show that their card is on bottom which isn't too powerful i feel.

I've been doing this card magic for about 6 months.

I want to watch more magic with the intention of both enjoying it as I still do despite often knowing roughly how things are done, and to improve my repertoire and performance style.

At the moment I watch a lot of:

- David Blaine

- Ben Earl (I subscribe to the family)

- Asi Wind

- Harrison Kramer

What are some other magicians I should be watching? I much prefer magic with as little gimmick as possible and that is catered for more of a street magic environment, although I am getting into more table based stuff recently!
